Today is Wednesday, June 8, 2011. The Moon continues its trek across Virgo today, and is picking up speed — the Moon will go nearly 14 degrees in these 24 hours, meaning it’s approaching its closest point to the Sun.
This morning the Moon is square Mercury, which tends to be viewed by astrologers as ‘intuition versus mind’ kind of inner tension, though I would say that your intuition is part of your mind and that mental functions are as intuitive as they are logical. Intuition requires allowing an idea to exist without necessarily having the mathematics written out in the margin. You may know something with no specific reason to. That’s a fair definition of intuition; most people have figured out about 25 times that it’s a good idea to listen to these messages. With the Moon in Virgo and the Sun in Gemini you may hear a lot of other messages as well. Today the Moon arrives at first quarter. That’s tonight at 10:10 pm EDT. It’s an interesting aspect structure: the Moon will be conjunct Juno. That’s another planet often associated with mental obsession, most typically scorekeeping in relationships, jealousy and other thoughts of competition. Easy does it. It may sound corny to say it, but we’re all playing on one team, even the guy tailgating you at 78 mph. This is the first quarter between a solar eclipse and a lunar eclipse.
Venus is on the verge of changing signs, from Taurus to Gemini; that’s overnight Thursday or Thursday morning depending on where you are (10:23 am EDT). This should help open up the sexual conversation potentially sparked off by that quarter Moon conjunct Juno. Gemini has a conversational quality and the planets involved help set the topic. Venus will square Neptune and Chiron, first order of business. That can represent a tendency to dive into emotional situations that feel good; make sure they’re wholesome.
