Hello Indy Rockers,
I am about to expand my podcast to include song breaks, and there’s a great way to do that — independent musicians. This is an open call for musicians to get in touch with me, introduce yourself and and submit your favorite stuff.

I’m looking for a wide diversity of material, from world beat to new wavy, to rock to classical. Electronic and experimental music is absolutely welcome, as are spoken word recordings. I need some intro/outro material for programs, as well as audio beds and other uses. We need good quality but not necessarily studio quality recordings. So if you stay up late making recordings on your Zoom, which sound pretty good but are not perfect, send me a sample.
I will introduce you to my audience and point people to your website or other web location that’s useful to you.
In order to participate, you’ll need to own your recording, and be free authorize its use. You can submit your recordings as CDs or as audio files via YouSendIt or on the web. I won’t be able to use material from every artist, however, there’s a good chance you’ll get on the ‘air’ when the moment is right. Just to give you an idea of my musical tastes, I remain a Deadhead, I love David Byrne in every incarnation (particularly the Catherine Wheel and the “Great Curve” era), and Brian Eno is one of my heroes and role models. My favorite currently-recording act is Radiohead. I am a Kate Bush fan going back decades, same for Laurie Anderson, and lately I’ve been f*cking obsessed with Lost at Last.
If someone out there has a dream of being a music editor, please contact me as well. I have an idea, long in planning, to expand Planet Waves FM to include music programming, and I want to promote independent musicians. It would be fantastic to have someone assist coordinating this, or even to have a voice presence. Please let me know your experience and describe your concept of commitment when you write in. Remember, these things always take more work than you might expect, and Planet Waves is a dependable outlet; we keep our schedules and produce consistent quality work.
Interested people are invited to write to me at my personal email address, dreams@planetwaves.net. Please be clear in your subject header, such as “music submission” or “music inquiry.” If you don’t hear back within one to three days, please write again. Mailing me over the weekend or early in the week is strongly preferable to the Weds. through Friday window, which is a bit busy around these parts.
Thank you!

Hey SiS, I’m delighted you enjoyed the piece. T’was *really* something, huh?!! You must check out his other piece as well “Sleep” — seeing as this is an astrology site after all! The sound *and* the stunning graphics will give you goosebumps on goosebumps.
Thank you also to *Carrie* for connecting me to the work of Erutan – so beautiful. It is refreshing to hear a modern take on celtic sounds and themes. She put me in mind of a group from Ireland that I grew up with – Clannad – and if you want to check out their sound, be sure to include the words “Irish band” as well, or you will be bombarded with links to a host of Manga sites…..! The singer Enya comes from the same family that makes up Clannad btw.
………………….stunned………absolutely….stunned by the beauty of the music you two lovelies posted. She, Carrie. You brought me to tears.
I love this idea, just watched pirate radio… rock and roll saved my life. I love being a part of this wonderful evolving venture…Kazimira
Kate’s website is here (for more info about her): http://www.erutanmusic.com/
One of my favorites is Kate Covington. Here’s her youtube sample video from her first album:

Her stage name, Erutan, is “nature” spelled backwards.
Listen and enjoy!
and the performance.

I love this idea *and* I feel inspired, (not that I’m ready yet to send any contributions just yet) but I’ve been taking the wraps off my deep love of music lately and gaining confidence in my talent and abilities. In fact, I recently sang at a dear friend’s funeral and tomorrow I will be doing one or two songs at that drop in centre I mentioned a few months back. For some reason Irish expats are drawn to this house — musicians, poets, writers, artists — all needing to spread their wings and find their confidence again, just like myself. One of them actually has a band and last week, out of the blue, he asked me to be one of the backup singers! Who knows, we may have something to show for it a few months down the road that might be worthy of posting?!
The timing of introducing this venture is intriguing as well because just yesterday the thought came to me of PW having its own virtual band. That thought was born from an idea planted a few weeks ago when someone sent me an amazing video. I can safely say that if you take the time to listen you *will* be blown away. Actually what I’m going to do is first post the introduction on how the piece was came about and then put the link to the actual performance in the following post. I know posting two video links in one post tends to cause a delay in coming up.

BTW This is a short introduction as the original one seemed a bit too long but, if your interest is piqued, I suggest searching for the *TED talk by Eric Whitacre*.
Indie musicians??? + in the podcasts??this is a Rockin’ Idea! I’m going to tell my sister’s partner about this opportunity! he’s definitely a fine musician-with his own recording studio- if I can just get him to sing that Muse song for me on my birthday (fingers crossed)
I’ve noticed a lot of positive changes on this site recently fr. mission statements to the use of positive affirmations and the setting of excellent intentions.
Wow!
I can’t wait to see how it all gets better & better! I mean, you’re not just raising the bar, you ARE the bar! (meaning of course, there’s no longer any bar, you are Purely Unlimited)
all I can say is that I am so glad to be here to witness all the miracles and excellence and fine things that go on here at PW at this pertinent time in the world.
not to mention all the excellent and fine people who come and share and participate here- and that includes you too silent readers ( I used to be one of you-now I type a few words here & there. )
YOU GO.
MAKE HISTORY.
peace.
Eric,
This is a great idea. Music is one of the best ways for people to share enthusiasm. That’s something that we will need to develop in order to evolve and survive as a species.
yea radiohead!
Thank you Paul. This will be fun. Here is the starting point of the project
