  1. The planet waves production schedule is on many cycles. That’s the ‘on holiday’ issue; just considering the editorial side, I have to navigate the schedules of many different magazines and newspapers, and now – an iPhone app. So for ex while I was planning to not write any horoscopes next week, the iPhone app (which started this week) needs one. The editors of this blog can do a good job without me, that’s great. There are weeks I have to write monthly horoscopes and weeks when I don’t. So usually the best I can do is a partial slowdown, canceling some projects to create a few days that are more relaxed and give me some space between my thoughts; and relive me of the constant need to both create content and supervise production. Just the two projects subtracted this week did a world of good.

I was still at work just as much but without the constant awareness that something is due in an hour or two or three. Today’s Merc Direct was an afterthought, added to the schedule at about 7:30 am Friday. I just don’t like to leave people hanging, I want to cover the bases, and today’s issue was about 10% the effort of a usual Friday project like I’ve been doing this year — a 4,000 word article almost every week of this year, plus Tuesday editions and much else besides. So, removing just a couple or a few very big projects helps a lot.

  2. oh, and len — “by request” just means anyone, even non-subscribers, can read the issue if they request it.

but i agree — useful and timely, for sure.

(i would type a smiley face for you, but then everyone might guess i’m a little buzzed at the moment….. oops.)

  3. haha michele — “mr. Imonholiday” was not actually on holiday. he just cut out two of his usual weekly projects. he was still working, trust me.
    🙂

  4. Hey, I didn’t have to write a horoscope, but god knows what the iPhone app thinks happened. I better tell Sarah. Plus I got to skip my second podcast in a year!

And next week is monthly horoscopes, which are written.

My night at Omega went fantastic. I will have that on the web as in soon.

    xx

  5. Not sure whose “request” you were responding to, but thank you for this, Eric. Word-for-word it may be one of the most timely and influential things you have ever done. We live in times like that.

  6. Thanks for this, Mr. Imonholiday. It made the murderous PMS, the stupid temps, the ridiculous clean-up jobs, and the everything-else far more pleasant. I verily believe thou hast saved lives. ( I say this in honour of my four-day weekend, which would not exist were it not for the death-obsession of our society.)
