Jupiter and Uranus, square Pluto: 100,000 march in India

Mass demonstrations have come to India as well. This story is a Reuters piece.

NEW DELHI — At least 100,000 trade unionists marched through the Indian capital Wednesday in a protest against high food prices and unemployment, piling pressure on an administration under fire over corruption scandals.

The demonstration was the biggest in New Delhi in years and included members of a trade union linked to the ruling Congress party, reflecting disquiet within the party over food inflation which hit a high of over 18 percent last December.

It was also the latest in a wave of protests that have swept the world, ignited by a worldwide spike in food prices. But unlike the protests that have toppled autocratic leaders, there have been no calls to overthrow India’s democratic government.

“We have come here so that our voices reverberate inside the house (parliament) and they can see what pain the common man is going through,” said Akhil Samantray who had come from the eastern Orissa state to take part in the march.

India, Asia’s third-largest economy and home to more than a billion people, has been grappling with double-digit food inflation for much of last year. The country’s hundreds of millions of poor have been hit the hardest.

The government has looked increasingly helpless as it tries to introduce policies to rein in food prices which have risen mainly on the back of soaring global prices which the government cannot control.

  1. Patty, you bring up an interesting realm for me. When I first went vegan 17 years ago I was adamant about telling everyone I came across how ‘important’ it was for them to pay attention to their diet. Adamant enough to be a jerk. My self-righteous quotient was pretty high (..though it Truly was out of concern for others’ well being.) It took me a good decade to chill out, and learn to keep my mouth partially shut (I’m still not a pro!). I’m very glad you bring up the Awareness of Earth-fucking practices, People NEED to be aware! I still vascillate on the propriety of my commentaries, but I have No fear or regrets!

    ..Please, continue..

  2. ..ahh, food. .. Who doesn’t get hungry? Who doesn’t have an ‘appetite’? Who wouldn’t do just about anything to satiate a physiological craving?

..This, is where Each Individual comes into play. Not all of us are farmers, but we can all find someone who is growing some extra vegetables in their backyard (come-on green thumbs!, don’t have me look silly, Be Here Now.), and INSTEAD of handing our ‘green/money’ resource to the corporate machines (..albeit composed of Human pieces..), we keep that ‘energy’ amongst ourselves. Take it from the banks, trade it with Real Human Beings!? Keep the Circulation within the arteries, veins, and cappilaries of the system, The People. Within this type of system I believe we’ll find a ‘mature self-responsibility that is inclusive of wise open-connectedness.’. ?

(..I am sooo trying to shape me..) (Thanks for the forum.. and the lyrics.)

  3. And now the round-up ready grain is causing spontaneous abortion in beef and hogs and is causing plant disease. http://farmandranchfreedom.org/gmo-miscarriages

Letter to the USDA from COL (Ret.) Don M. Huber
    Emeritus Professor, Purdue University
APS Coordinator, USDA National Plant Disease Recovery System (NPDRS)

    Requesting a multi-agency review.

“One of the nation’s senior scientists alerted the federal government to a newly discovered organism that may have the potential to cause infertility and spontaneous abortion in farm animals, raising significant concerns about human health. Dr. Don Huber, professor emeritus at Purdue University, believes the appearance and prevalence of the unnamed organism may be related to the nation’s over reliance on the weed killer known as Roundup and/or to something about the genetically engineered Roundup-Ready crops. In a letter to Secretary of Agriculture Tom Vilsack, the professor called on the federal government to immediately stop deregulation of roundup ready crops, particularly roundup ready alfalfa.”

  4. Assuming it was a peaceful demonstration with no death, injuries or property damage, it’s actually a very positive thing that such a large number of people can assemble with a common intent. The ability to organize peacefully and act in solidarity is a saving grace. That’s how it came to be protected by the U.S. Constitution and prohibited by despots.

  5. Beth,
Thank you for the excellent reading of the Sibly chart. The proposed meditation may be considered a revolutionary act, you know. Wish i would have had your double major, just now learning those things. Thank you, you are a true master.

  6. Holy fuck! Jupiter and Uranus square Pluto… I remember thinking of the 2011 food crisis relating to all of this a couple of weeks ago, especially looking at the Sibly chart on Planet Waves and seeing/reading/researching about Venus and Jupiter in the 8th house and that Cancer cluster — two words came to the surface. FOOD CRISIS.

At the time, I had just returned from hannafarts super market, where I had to spend my last earnings on food for my cat and myself –thinking “i just spent something like $110.00, on food that will last us about a week” The price of eating good food (thats good for you) is one thing, then we have a whole other issue (which is really all one) of having to worry about any food at all…

I propose the idea of a world wide lactation meditation, perhaps for the next new moon in Cancer or something. Ahh sustainability and perception, I’m glad I double majored in these two in college…
