Chile earthquake, Full Moon eve

Chile earthquake astrology.

This morning’s 8.8 magnitude earthquake in Chile occurred on the eve of the Full Moon. Many earthquakes happen with in a day or so of the New Moon or the Full Moon, including some of the most famous in history — such as the Banda Aceh / Asian tsunami event in late 2004.

Notice how the Moon in Leo is opposing a grouping of planets in Aquarius and Pisces. That’s a lot of weight thrown to one end of the solar system — and the Sun is aligning with Jupiter (which is about 1,200 times the size of Earth and 317 times heavier).

Just to give you an idea of how Sun-Jupiter alignments work, Jupiter in its orbit of the Sun makes the whole Sun wobble. Our Sun basically shakes as Jupiter orbits (which is how our scientists spot other stars with large planets — they look for the wobble). So if Jupiter is big enough to wobble the Sun, the gravity of Sun-Jupiter is enough to have some effects on Earth, and when you add the Moon (and regrograde Mars) pulling in the opposite direction, that is stress; and it’s stress that people are feeling as well because the whole concept of astrology holds that these events have biopsychic effects as well as physical effects.

There is also a triple conjunction of Mercury, Chiron and Neptune; that’s a lot of concentrated gravity because Neptune is enormous and Mercury is right close by. (Chiron at about 160km in theory does not have a lot of gravity, but I don’t discount the effect of anything.) So altogether, that is a lot of stress on our planet. Chile is way to the south of South America, and one of my concerns is that the melting of the ice cap is taking pressure off the tectonic plates and allowing them to slide around a bit more than usual.

I guess you could call this a typical earthquake chart, though at an unusual time in planetary history.

To a point. After all most people in these quakes are killed by buildings rather than the actual quake itself as such. Or by roads and bridges collapsing. Unfortunately a lot of the countries affected by quakes like Haiti and Chile are too poor to build homes etc
that can withstand much of the shocks produced by the quake.

Japan also had a quake last week but their buildings are more resilient so no MSM reports of loss of life or aid needed.

  2. The strongest earthquake ever recorded was in Chile, I believe in1960, and was a 9.5. I also am an earthquake baby having lived in L.A. and S.F. and went through the Northridge earthquate on Jan. 17, 1994 (5:16am). I read a woman who was in Chile describe is as she thought a train was going through. My Northridge experience was exactly the same, except the train came through my bedroom. I physically could NOT get out of the bed, as the entire structure just shoot so violently.

In a way these events are natural genocide. Although I know from an ecological pov, we are not helping things.

Earthquakes change people. To feel the earth either roll, rumble, rattle or hit you like a runaway train leaves a fear of great insecurity. I think the same could be said for any massive natural disaster. I sleep in my bed and wonder about the people in Haiti (didn’t like the crack about mud/straw huts) and Chile and elsewhere in dire straits. In truth, events like this can happen to us all.

This is fascinating. . . thank you for sharing. I will be checking it out the next time the world is focused on a particular spot in the world. Another tool in the toolbelt!

  4. A UK Astrologer called Kathryn Cassidy has come up with an interesting take on the correlation between the Earth’s meridian lines and the signs of the Zodiac and their relationship with events like the Haiti quake and the floods in Madeira.

There has also been reports today of a quake in Argentina and if you look at the map on Kathryn’s blog South America falls between the meridians associated with the quadrant of the Zodiac between Capricorn, Aquarius and Pisces and guess where most of the planets are? Right in the middle.

There is also a known “hole” in the Earth’s magnetosphere called the Southern Atlantic Anomaly which occurs around 36 degrees of latitude which goes through Chile and Argentina and may mean that the pull from the Sun, Jupiter et al has a greater affect than normal.

And Wandering Yeti has the co-ordinates of the epicentre as 35.846°S, 72.719°W.

  5. What really bothers me is that there are more on the way. I am deeply worried about the southern part of the San Andreas. The earth out near Palm Springs has a sense of building tension. I would strongly advise that anyone living near this fault have a ten day supply of food and water and other emergency supplies ready, just in case. Sadly, I have no sense of timing for it.

  6. 35.846°S, 72.719°W The coordinates from USGS for the earthquake.

I woke lup at the exact time of the quake, from a PTSD dream, drenched in sweat and feeling very unsafe. Hearing the news of the quake was devastating, and strangely relieved my fear since I knew it was far away. Now, I am just devastated for those going through this horrendous event – with more to come possibly.

  7. OK, I’m pretty impressed and I’m an earthquake-baby … growing up in the SF Bay Area, we had two or three quakes a week. Some were impressive, most were just momentarily exciting. Even the 7-something in Haiti, while a healthy jolt, wouldn’t have done much if the whole country hadn’t been built of straw and mud. But 8.8? Holy Jumpin’ Jesus! People don’t understand how the increments are counted. This is being reported as 1000 times the power of the Haiti quake. Looks like it’s Shake, Rattle and Roll time — inside and out.

  8. I have used Santiago. If someone would be kind enough to research the exact coordinates of the event, using the USGS report for the quake, I will post a new chart in a little while.

    Thank you.
