Carry On

By Len Wallick

“I say to you today, my friends, so even though we face the difficulties of today and tomorrow, I still have a dream.” – Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.

Today, we transition out of the storm phase following Mercury’s recent forward station. Jupiter entered Pisces overnight, and the Moon made a conjunction to Jupiter welcoming him home. Venus comes out from behind the Sun to ingress Aquarius. Like the planets, we are now in a different place, a different time. A time to stop and look around. A place to take a conscious breath. Ahhhhh…how long ago 2009 seems to be.

Appropriate to Capricorn, where the Sun remains for a few more days, is topography. Mercury retrograde started pragmatically enough. In his blog on December 15th “Five Minutes of Astrology” Eric launched the echo phase with an emphasis on integrity. On Auld Lang Syne, Mr. Wing-foot, also known as Mercury stationed concurrent with Mars and the opening created by a partial lunar eclipse. A week later in his blog “Weird but not too bad, so far” Eric observed that “..it’s been pretty mellow, at least in public life.” A few days after that…

Your clock can tell you when sunrise is going to occur, but your clock does not cause the Sun to come up. Carl Jung called synchronicity, an alternative to cause and effect, to account for events that occur together in a meaningful manner. In one famous incident, a large knife in a drawer spontaneously shattered into pieces when Jung and Sigmund Freud were having a tense conversation. Jung called this ‘catalytic exteriorization phenomenon’ – a physical release of non-physical tension.

In astrology, squares (planets and/or events 90 degrees apart on the zodiac circle) and oppositions (180 degrees apart) are commonly interpreted as expressions of tension. Lately, we have had a lot of that from the eclipses to the Venus exterior conjunction and the ongoing square between Saturn and Pluto (just to name the big ones). It may well be that the most recent eclipse cycle, closing as it opened with a Mercury station, found its physical release in the suffering inflicted on the people of Haiti.

Now, each in our own way we do what we can to heal the injury to humanity. More importantly in the long run, we must also attend to the after-effects within each one of ourselves. No human is an island. Make no mistake, we are all casualties of this event to some degree. Awareness carries the burden of responsibility precisely because we are one with.

If we can accept that the tension has been released for the moment, we can proceed without the crippling dread that the trials inflicted upon the island of Hispaniola will be the fate of us all. We can un-cringe and do what has to be done. We can take our foot off the clutch and move forward again. We can open our eyes and see clearly. We can overcome fear itself. Yes, we can, and if enough of us do, our combined courage will merge with and even direct the expressions of synchronizations yet to come.

We have things to do. We have places to go and very old promises to keep. So, now as stop to gaze into the dark woods, let’s take a moment to unwind inside and let out some slack. Let’s take a moment to remember our dreams. Let us grant ourselves permission to possess the ground under our feet for long enough to clear our heads.

Just as Mercury is direct again, we can reclaim lost ground. Just as Jupiter and Venus have moved into a new energy of expression, we can rise to the opportunities, leaving behind the stale and forlorn. Just as four intrepid musicians have sung for forty years, we can carry on, confident that love is coming to us all. Confident because we ourselves are bringing that love to be.

  1. Thank you Len – I love the ‘synchronicity’ which expresses the One thought.

Recently my husband read to me & it came to mind when reading your profound words.

The heart is like a chair, it has only room for one & it is our choice whether we let fear or love sit there. The quote continues that there is only One heart that belongs One Divine Family & so when we invite love to ‘sit down’ in our heart it happens to all humanity.

So … I am (that which is) pulling out the chair for love having removed fear from the seat.

Many blessings to you & all the Planet Waves Family

  2. ..Ah!?! Shnapp’s is nasty! At least go for the Goose! Liquid candy without the burn! Intoxicating water! ..just runs down the throat. ..and when the head change comes on, you don’t give a F*** about any of the b.s. that goes down in this reality, “let folks do themselves in, if that’s what they want!” “F*** ’em!”

I had an uncle die drunk on the street last christmas.. Fucker pummeled himself with the bottle, froze to death.

    The tweaker had his time.

Luv, and a third eye keepin’ lookout!

Thank you for your correction. Please forgive my historical innacuracy. You see, i was away picking up a bottle of schnapps at the time and must have mis-understood what really happened. (But seriously folks, thank you).

  4. it wasn’t a shattered knife but a loud noise like a cracking from a wooden bookshelf whose significance Jung found in the timing as it happened just as he made a definite statement of his relative position to Freud. Then another similar noise happened just as Jung predicted it would when Freud disagreed with his interpretation. The shattered knife was an experience from Jung’s childhood when a psychic cousin was visiting.

  5. I am that novice Virgo driver learning how to ease off the clutch without sending the car catapulting forward into another car and I am also a tightly wound spring. What a combination! I’ve been gripping the steering wheel so tightly in 2009 – I’ve forgotten how to dream. And I am afraid that my spring will unwind suddenly, without warning, causing pain to anyone in my path. Thanks, Len, for the timely reminder to relax and love. As a dear friend of mine used to tell me – ‘your word is in God’s ears’.

  6. Yeah, wow Len. I printed out the 2 paragraphs that start with: “If we can accept that the tension has been released for the moment, we can proceed without the crippling dread that the trials inflicted upon the island of Hispaniola will be the fate of us all.” Enlarged, nice font, beautiful red color. I keep reading it and am working to be aware of the brief moments here and there when I am able to FEEL what you are saying. The level of maturity and generosity called for now seems overwhelming and unattainable 98% of the time. Especially today. You are helping me look to the 2%. And that ain’t nothing.

  7. Lovely, as usual, Len — and encouraging. We do have promises to keep … we made them to ourselves. Now we need to grow into them.

    Blessings,
    Jude

  8. I now have four close friends with either their mother or their father very ill, in the hospital. They all went in over this past weekend.

    Earthquakes of the soul.

  9. Very well put my friend, very well indeed. I’m gathering up my courage and uncringing even as I type. Tomorrow I will try to let out some slack . .or maybe even tonight. Hoping the additional Pisces influence is a balm for all the wounded bodies and souls that have just been hanging on and waiting for relief. No more shattered knives please, thank you very much.
