Cosmic Confidential: A Sample from Aries

Today under the Aries Moon, I am writing Aries Confidential. As I’ve been mentioning, I’m taking a new approach to the research and the writing of this year’s annual edition. Instead of being a long, rambling essay, I am going through the houses one at a time, and the result will feel more like a proper astrology reading — for a tiny fraction of the cost. I will post more today about our special offers. Here is a sample from Aries.

Mars retrograde says: 1. Inner quest. 2. References to the past. 3. The exploration of the desires that we normally deny, and have denied in the past. So the emphasis here is less about exploring relationships, sex and art as expression, and entirely about exploring your relationship to yourself, exploring sex as an expression of self-awareness, and using your creative process as an inner journey that changes you and then feeds your expressive fire.

Because we live in a sexually and creatively repressed society, most of the energy and passion inherent in this house is trapped by things like denial, self-repression and maintaining our pride. You can be sure that to the extent that you experience boredom, you have denied your passion — and this transit is here to help you find it again.

Yet this whole process exists within a larger context, and that is the context of the people you know, and the ‘personal society’ that they form. And part of that involves how we have our sexual relationships, in particular, with the presumption of monogamy and then so many issues involving monogamy. Try as we may to relate only to one person, many people experience the presence of others who we want to share with, experience and relate to. But the social rules and norms of our culture barely even allow us to admit this to others. So we have to lock up our desires, generally out of the fear of not being accepted by others; and of being outcast from the groups we live in, particularly our friends. Too often, we try to define ourselves in ways that are acceptable to others — and now you are being challenged to define yourself in a way that is based on self-acceptance alone.

  1. My new tantric partner is an Aries male. In his former life, he had been a Protestant pastor for 27 years. His relationship to sex and self are definitely front and center right now.

    Thank you, Eric.

  2. Natally speaking, it’s MY 9th house. My ascendant is at the end of Scorpio. I have Leo on the cusp of the 9th and Mars is currently there revving up my particular 9th house issues. I’d been looking forward to being able to put those on the back burner in a little bit. But now that I know they will be intense for another four months I will have to take some action to deal with them, because I will not be able to handle limbo for that long. To make it even more cute, it will dip back into the 8th and heat up my moon/uranus conjunction and the t-square between that conjunction and the squares it makes to the mercury/neptune opposition. I just went and checked the date it was last there and it was just before some crucial information was given to me and might help me integrate two seemingly disparate religious philosophies. I will take note of the Solar implications as well because those will be highlighted during the Christmas season, and depending on the action taken might well be life altering. But I can’t leave out the 9th, and I guess the 3rd as well. But the 9th and the issues governing it will be crucial.

    Just my five cents worth.

  3. I may not be an Aries, but this definitely has a grain of truth to what’s going on in my life right now. I’ve read a few of the comments for other signs when you were asking for feedback for specific signs & they all have offered something to ponder about my own life. I love the interesting input from all!

  4. Eriiic (whiny voice), that’s more 9th house stuff! I guess I have some more opportunities to come to grips with my 9th house issues (sigh, with arms crossed and face poked out). I ‘ll use some of this time to try and get some stuff straightened out before hand.

  5. okay…that might throw a wrench in prospective holiday plans, but ti does get right for the birthday (I hope)
