Rolling thunder

I have been on the rag lately bemoaning the plight of the downtrodden such as myself. It’s a rallying cry.

Actually I love this work. It’s quite beyond the imagining of anything I thought of thirty years ago listening to Music for Airports in Medusa, NY, but I dreamed this reality in from a feeling, and I’ve had the feeling a long time. The part I forgot to account for is the resistance; the feeling of resistance. The ridiculous, painful state of society: this sky of plastic. Some, maybe even I, would say that the resistance I feel in the world is an extension of the resistance I feel inside. That all that plastic is in me. If that’s true then why are so many enlightened people I know commenting on the futility of this era in terms of the nearly-missing get real factor; the anarchy of repression. We’re a smug bunch; we are all so pure.

Or is all of that just me? Is it just a story I’m making up?

What about all these wars?

Maybe you get the idea…

  1. Ishmael, you may not be able to raise another’s consciousness; but two things akin are true: you can lower another person’s consciousness by attacking them (only at the expense of your own vibration) and you can set an example or offer an idea to another person, which can indeed raise awareness/consciousness/vibration.

Mostly we get stuck following those who have a low vibration or an agenda unrelated to raising awareness. The big problem here is that most of these agendas were injected into our awareness when we were fetuses and during the first two years of life.

  2. Interesting. Large summer front moved through here last night and it’s still lingering. I love the feeling of release that comes with a thunderstorm. And I like to imagine each boom is the sound of my reservations and doubts, my internal barriers collapsing.

I don’t go in for sunsets.

  3. you cannot raise another’s consciousness is the problem and it’s a big one.
It will hold us back another 1000 years is the estimate.
Most important is to protect the flame of knowledge for it will be needed one day.
Do that and you have done well.

  4. Eric, that’s quite possibly THE best short story I ever read!

It evokes for me the feeling that whether at home cleaning, or at work, or at the bookstore thumbing through a novel, it is ALL just a story.

So, am I consciously writing MY story (shaping it), or is some body/thing else?

  5. I do notice that people, at least a small number, I include myself as one of them, are waking up and Planet Waves is helping us to do so. Helping us to understand better what we are awakening to.

As for all those with their heads in the sand with “the nearly-missing get real factor”, there do seem to be a whole lot of those. In fact, I’m amazed by the number of people I talk to (friends, lovers, strangers) who aren’t very open-minded about this world we live in, aren’t following their heart and passions instead of their head, they do what they “think they should do” or what society tells them to do. But, the interesting thing is when I talk to them they tell me that they feel really out of sorts, tired all the time, in a funk and they don’t know why or how to get out of it or what’s wrong with them. When I try to suggest that maybe life is trying to tell them something, tell them to examine their life and where they are at they dismiss it as just a phase. Funny thing is this phase they are all going through doesn’t seem to be ending. I think the world is trying to wake them up; it’s just people are stubborn, afraid of change, afraid of things that don’t necessarily fit into their limited world view (or the way they’ve always thought). Anyway, that’s what I’ve been seeing in the circles I walk in.

  6. Lead and Follow

Born to lead me past myself
    Eternal youth and promised health
First day of the ancient year
Sound of Bach placed in my ear

Molded so I won’t fit in
Strength of heart where others end
    Master here the vital force
Sent to change the human course

Beyond the place where others feel
I AM the source of all that’s real
    Illusions fade away each day
My movements flow the way I pray

Song is in the gift I bring
Hearts need open to hear me sing
Compassion in the way I lead
My soul belongs to those who need

Difference here is not the same
In my voice there is no shame
I have grown up to begin
The infinite path that lies within

Born to lead and follow suit
The magic call that’s taken root
On this day that I was born
And from the human fabric torn

I AM the spirit that was called
To reach for bliss since I was small
I AM the struggle and the way
    Reminded by my birth today

    ~ Thomas Weatherspoon, March 2009

We give because it’s what we’re here to do – and we are blessed, we people of faith… Keep giving and asking.

  7. If we are in fact living in samsaric reality, then suffering is just part of the process that ultimately leads us toward enlightenment. Without suffering, where would any of us be. Not that I’m advocating that everyone needs to suffer (or am I?), but – all that we’re going through is certainly waking a lot of people out of the stupor they’ve been living in.
