World Health Organization today raised the rating on swine flu from a 4 to a 5, reflecting their belief that a worldwide pandemic is imminent. Also, someone died of the flu in the United States, but it was a Mexican child. Meanwhile, others have taken a more cautious approach to the issue. “Well, in some ways the term ‘swine flu’ is a misnomer,” says Dr. Gregory Gray, who heads the Center for Emerging Infectious Diseases at the University of Iowa. “This particular strain of influenza may have components of swine influenza,” Gray adds, “but it’s acting more like a traditional annual influenza that we see every year.” Here is a summary of the 2007-2008 flu season’s facts and figures. It states in part, “As of June 19, 2008, 83 deaths associated with laboratory-confirmed influenza infections have occurred among children aged < 18 years during the 2007-08 influenza season that were reported to CDC.”

I think she is mythological. I think myths and knowing runs deep, unlike the portrayal of the housewives of orange county.
Doing things for self gratification is good. I went through a phase where my fellow female employees mates would have flowers delivered to the workplace on Valentines Day. I had flowers delivered too, with a lovely card from myself.
Some years down the line, I was frollicking with a romeo. No holds barred on them holiday traditions. One dozen of the finest. The first 13 women to gush, they got a rose.
And a good thing that is victoria. .nurturing self. Felt guilty about that in the beginning, but it does so pay off. Like when I do the dishes late at night before going to bed, I will say, I’m doing this for you be. . . and then when I wake and go into my clean kitchen, well, I just know somebody loves me! ha ha ha
Also liked that observation about Ceres nurturing aspect (re: piggies). Been hearing much about her nasty side lately. Guess we have exhaulted her too much, so to compensate, much is being made of her temper and other nasty behavior. Kinda like when “we” exhaulted Obama, the see-saw just had to balance that with claims of his evilness.
Still, wonder why those Romans offered up the pig to her. I mean, was that her idea or those stupid romans? All hail Ceres. . goddess of grains (especially not funny corn) and protector of piggies and other mistreated creatures.
be, she could be mad cuz the pig is taking the blame. Ceres is about nurturing, like how I was nurtured and how I feel about that. But more to the point, how i nuture myself now.
annat, it is a fine world, isn’t it.
On another note…
Went to hang out with some friends, outside of Olympia, across the street from the goat dairy, with a bountiful garden, scores of hierloom tomato plants in the greenhouse, layer chickens, slaughter chickens, pigs growing for the freezer, voluptuous salad from the garden, no one working a full-time “regular” job, but finding ways to keep the scene happpening – just want to report that there IS a fine world outside of industrial farming/pharmeceutical corporations/media induced fear.

Okay victoria, this makes sense. Knew she wouldn’t be mad for no reason at all. Thanks for your rationale. You’re good at connecting the dots!
I try this on . . .
Pig important to Ceres. Pleases bigger gods. Pig, he eats lots of corn. Corn make him sturdy with lots of meat. Make big gods stomachs round.
Ceres no like using corn to grow drugs. Pollen from funny not so funny corn cross pollinates with corn for consumption. Pollen from funny not so funny corn moves through air. No one but funny not so funny drug company know where corn fields are.
Ceres say watch Prof Plum. He did it with the test tube in the laboratory.
Not!!!
porca pracidanea
No, you gotta be kidding
It’s all Ceres fault. Hmmmm. Lynn Hayes ( http://blog dot beliefnet dot com/astrologicalmusings/ ) quotes Todd Chapman’s “Through the Looking Glass” site. . .”the ancient mid-April festival of Cerealia, held in the honor of the Roman Goddess Ceres. One of the “highlights” of the Cerealia was the porca pracidanea, the ritual sacrifice of a PIG.” The Looking Glass site isn’t astrological, and Lynn (who’s site is astrological) lists recent gruesome tragedies at this time of year: the siege in Waco – 4/19/93; OK City bombings – 4/19/95; Columbine murders – 4/20/99; VA Tech murders – 4/16/07.
Egads. . .Ceres is trine Pluto! She would have been trining the Sun on the 19th when he entered Taurus. She’s been in a T-square with Vesta and Juno for weeks! And I just thought it was a Taurus thing. Lynn thinks it is to get us to “pay attention to our place in the natural world”. So why is she (Ceres) pissed off this time?
A German Magazine (Spiegel = equivalent of Time Magazine) reported today that “patient zero”, i.e. the little boy who was the first to test positive for this *flu*, sleeps with his whole family in one bed. The mother said “we kissed him”, and no one else in the family got sick.
Meanwhile, in the WaPo: The mother of the little boy was informed by the governor “that tests in the United States showed that Г‰dgar had swine flu.”
But: “She said one doctor continues to tell her that Г‰dgar never had swine flu.”
Still: I feel sorry for the people in this area of Mexico who have to live with the pig farms upwind and nearby. I don’t eat pork.
And, a flu is not fun, even if there are no complications.
who said the sky wasn’t falling?
I’ve avoided most of the chatter about the H1N1 topic, mostly because I end up feeling manipulated. One just can’t help but pick up bits and pieces, as it’s everywhere. At least, thought I, Eric will have something satisfying here, homeopathic (if that’s a word) or something aside from the ol’ sky is falling … I have to take a moment to understand that there are people who are sick and they must be bumming, big time. I’ll keep checking my astrology website for something useful and/or unique.

Good! It makes sense.
I like also New Fear, and Old Fear.
well, we know how muslims feel about pigs.
paola, I vote for New Paranoia.
Authorities say that it’s more fair to call it “new influenza” or “mexican influenza”, not to give the idea that eating pig can be dangerous. I find this between comic and… strange. It’s very confusing to call it “new influenza”, because ‘new’ seems ‘positive’ to me… like a sort of ‘new age’… maybe new way to respond to a threat….
What do you think? Is it called like this also in USA?
“It has been decided to immediately start slaughtering all the pigs in Egypt using the full capacity of the country’s slaughterhouses,” Health Minister Hatem el-Gabaly told reporters after a Cabinet meeting with President Hosni Mubarak.”

I’m reminded of a certain time in history when Egypt was similarily inhospitable to “christians” although at the time they were Jewish. (my understanding is that the pig farmer’s in eqypt are largly christian, pig meat being unclean otherwise.)
Ah, what other civil unrest visavis shifts in political clime are in the wind?
