Your Responses to the New Age Promo

Terrific promo…fun, light-hearted, appealing to people who are savvy, have a sense of humor, are aware enough to not take themselves too seriously. Right on!!

***

I am living in Australia and find your writing fascinating I think its healthy to question all things so I enjoy the challenging theories you throw out there and I have been a more thoughtful and open-minded person since reading Planet Waves. I thank you for the opportunities to read what you write as I haven’t the money to subscribe but what I do read is excellent. Keep it up as the world needs more people like you. I am 53 and last year my 35 year marriage ended and so I am reborn and feel like I’m 1 yrs old just learning as I have lost everything that I believed in over the last 35 years and learning all about the new me and hoping for opportunities to grow and develop in the future. I still believe in Love as the answer to all the ills of the world if only others could love more than just themselves, A community spirit is growing I believe.

Spot on with my personality! And with Planet Waves, in my opinion. You guys rock.

***

I have been reading you for years now and am used to your wicked sense of humour! Planet Waves is the ONLY on-line subscription I pay and the best read for truth and understanding. I’m a Scorpio and sometimes I really do think you GET me! Keep it up…always…and big HURRAY!! To Chelsea B. too, who’s been with you since the beginning.

***

I am not a subscriber. I read the promotion and here are my points summarized:

– too much ‘ego’ involved
– not sufficiently original
– not interesting
– what is it trying to say?? Message not clear

***

It was funny and made the point. You are a gifted writer and although I’d like to support your writing and read your insights, it’s difficult for me to justify paying you much more than I do the NYT. I understand that you are selling a personal service, but it’s still entertainment, like any book, regardless of how well written. Of course, one does not write a book, or even a short story, for one person at a time, but that’s the nature of the astrology beast. Anyway, I hope you don’t take offense because none is intended. You are trying really hard to make a go at what you excel in and I wish you the best of luck.

***

I thoroughly enjoyed it! In fact, it reminded me how much I missed the horoscopes and their down-to-earth insights, and I saved the e-mail with the plan to look over my budget and subscribe again soon.

***

I liked it and I would have paid but I am unemployed and my unemployment ran out and as soon as I have regular income again I will pay you did a really good job with the ad because it well explained your stuff!

***

Loved it. Thought it was a riot.

***

Being Wiccan I wasn’t upset by it, if that’s the concern. It was obviously done in fun – evident from the first sentence on (though I rather wondered at first if it was some fantasy of yours.

That said, I wasn’t particularly sure what to think, either. I’m a critically minded person, work in software, raise kids, live in the suburbs (despite that description I can’t claim to be mainstream but I’m not fringe, either) and absolutely appreciate your writing for its down-to-earth practicality. Your writing seems to have the agenda of asking readers to examine themselves and their lives , which I’m typically very willing to do. But I’m not sure poking fun at the ritually minded New-Agers will increases sales, since we’re part of your target group, I think… but I might be wrong about that.

***

I thought it was great. Nicely done.

***

Well, I’ve been involved with New Age activities for 20 years (they really aren’t so new any more) so I blew off your opinion of them.

***

I hadn’t read it yet…so this email got me on it. While I have always looked forward to both your wit and viewpoints this promo piece seems to reveal one who has not moved into the realization that everything is part of the Whole. Emphasizing what you are not, and even painting it with a coat of judgment, hints that duality and judgment just might be embedded in your astrology and interpretations. Not to mention that some of what you cast a light of rejection upon I do engage at appropriate times leaving aspects of me definitely feeling rejected. Daring young man, I’ve always said that for those of us willing to walk the razors edge there may be times we fall off. It’s all in the adventure. I look forward to your follow up. We are the Dreamer living our own Dream…Dream on.

***

I liked the promo — it caught me off guard and provoked me to renew my membership.

***

I thought it was funny. But I didn’t sign up for a membership. Not sure what you’re asking.

***

I always love your e-mails, but honestly, my first thought was, considering that I recently lost my job…trying to figure out how to fit a subscription into my budget :-)! Keep up the good work!

***

Why not??? It’s always good to test the edges and see where our sensitivities lie.

***

I think your horoscopes are fascinating and it’s clear that you do extensive work on them–and all the articles you write as well….you’re very talented. It all boils down to money for me. I’m on a limited budget with lots of expenses…necessities (and by the skin of my teeth), not luxuries, these days.

***

I got the tongue -in – cheek humor, but wondered if the promo would Fly in Sedona (our own version of Will it Play in Peoria?).

***

Thanks for your wonderful, accurate, and above all, thoughtful site.

***

That was fun, except sandalwood gives me hives. But I’d love to see you with hair flowing etc.!!!!

***

I loved it! Being an alternative medicine provider (and RN) that uses cold low level lasers, flower medicinals, homeopathic acupuncture point patches I often have to assure people that “I won’t bring out the rattles and snakes until the second visit”. I always have to stand tall to both the uninformed stereotyping and the ones who “think they’re so illustrious, they call themselves intense” within the alternative medicine world. We are not from the planet “soft” and I think you did a great job explaining that in your post today!

***

I saw it as you pushing the envelope and taking a chance it will awaken people to pay attention. Personally it made me think about signing up more than before I am with you that Astrology is a practical tool to helping people in many ways. This is the time for practical approaches for all people Professionalize what was psychic woo woo for many too many astrologers still are not grounded in truth and practical approaches.

Hope this helps.

***

Will turn off people too. Best in this and all.

***

Hmmm. I suppose I get a lot of emails, sifting through them is a task. I enjoy reading your horoscopes and other astro-writing, but lately I’ve been so incredibly busy (overworked and underpaid) that when I see a full inbox I’m immediately overwhelmed. I’m also broke, as is most of the country I suppose, and although the subscription is very cheap, it’s another money leakage for me.

It’s not that I can’t use some advice right now either, God knows I certainly could use it. Does that answer anything for you? Sorry to not subscribe. Best luck.

***

I Love it! Thank you Eric, you truly are an amazing astrologer. I have been told by past astrologers that I have a special chart. I would love to have a personal reading from you. How much do you charge for this?

***

Thanks for asking. I wasn’t offended by it, but it seemed tedious and little ‘full of itself’. Hope this was helpful input.

***

Personally I thought the email was very amusing! The visual suggestions got a hearty guffaw out of me and I thoroughly enjoyed the whole thing.(Mind you I AM Australian and we thrive on poking fun at ourselves and each other.) And by the way while I have your ear- your work is outstanding, insightful and I much prefer it to any other site. Recently received the “Gemini” email, and as today is my birthday found it fabulous and VERY helpful. Keep up the great work!

***

LOVED IT!! Made me chuckle as well as appreciate the very grounded approach you take to astrology!! Most definitely attention getting and thought provoking!! Wishing you a spectacular evening!

***

Thought it was very funny! Nothing insulting if that was what you were worried about. I was actually rather taken by it!

***

I loved it! Humor and straightforwardness are the perfect tools in this bizarre new age market of fluff and light-polarization! So, I give you all 20 thumbs up and a big non-new-age hug for all your great work.

Hey, how did you manage with Uranus going over your Chiron & Sun? Just curious because I remember we share many of the same planets (long time ago in Miami Beach). I don’t recall the details, but do you also have Saturn at Zero Aries?

***

I thought it was pretty genius.

***

I know that you are the best Eric but I struggle to understand the technical parts of astrology…please don’t drop me off the big list.

***

I responded by signing up for a 6-month subscription. I love the way you write. I am also an astrologer…tho a baby compared to you. My thing is personal psychology vs. more global take you are so good at. I use your writing to keep up to speed on the larger picture. Thanks for your insightful work.

***

My dear friends and I read you with complete and dedicated seriousness and total delight. We think you are the best view around and always look forward to your thoughts and insights.

That was a pretty funny vision there for a second this morning… hahaha! Thank you for all your frankness, wit and honesty.

***

This is what I had written, after reading the promo,…That was lovely…and light…to read. Really. A breath of fresh air…Warmth to you.

***

I’m already a subscriber already! I’d actually been thinking of writing to you to tell you about something kind of cool: that a few years ago I turned on one of my clients (I’m a Pilates teacher) to PW. She was going through a big change in her life and her horoscope was so right on I’d send it to her every week. She was blown away and she eventually subscribed.

She turned her brother on to PW. He is a physicist who is working on finding solutions for the Gulf oil disaster. Now he tells her he’s using PW as a resource for his work! Pretty cool I think!! So all that said, please know I love PW and check in several times a day to see what’s going on. I listened to the weekly audio for the first time this week and played it twice in a row and will probably listen again. Excellent and really helpful.

Thank you for all your good work!

***

I liked it. I think once and awhile it a fun reminder of how unique and special you are.

Too bad the New Agers have branded the market in the way they have. I have a friend who does psychic readings that are professional and he is always poking the same kind of humor.

***

You know the tone Was a bit snarky. You don’t have to be that way we know you are hipper than those other guys….

***

I’m an astrologer too, since 1983. Been there… thru the new age 80’s. I thought it was funny. Carry on. ๐Ÿ˜‰

***

I’m an avid Planet Waves fan and eagerly read all your free offerings. When your site went subscriber I was unable to manage the fee and was reluctant to follow up on the complementary subs option at that time. I’ve had to work on my willingness to receive.

Anyway I totally agree with today’s lighthearted promotion.

I find PW to have a depth and consciousness unparalleled by any other astrology site except perhaps Robert Wilkinson’s Aquarius Papers, but yours is a little more accessible to me sometimes as I only have a fairly basic understanding of astrology and that can be quite in depth.

The articles and horoscopes on PW invite people to self examine and look with a deeper perspective to wider world events – something that is critical to the survival of our species and the health of our planet I feel. I love your articles and particularly that you occasionally broach “taboo” subjects. Bet that pushes the odd button out there ๐Ÿ˜‰

I also love that you mix deep conscious and moving offerings such as Auschwitz and Haiti with some of the more offbeat, such as polyamoury and masturbation!! The articles on Chiron and connecting the stories of different alignment to moments and moods in history I find fascinating. You are truly using your gifts and I find all the PW snippets I am sent a joy to read.

***

I enjoyed it. Grounded information is usable information. Thanks for all you do!

***

Interesting you should bring it up: I recently wrote a piece for my Wakenings page about the corrections needed to the New Age vocabulary > . All humor has a serious substrate: New Agers got a painful dose of that last year with the news of the depredations of Mr. Ray at Sedona. I wrote extensively > about that because I think it was a clear cosmic wake-up call to the entire N.A. movement: if what we do could ever have been considered a game, it sure ain’t now. As BP has recently demonstrated to us in the Gulf, criminally negligent homicide is more a matter of greed, laziness, arrogance, and a critical self-ignorance than anything else: that is the legacy of James Arthur Ray.

Our language and our images are the key components in our toolbox, and we owe our clients a clear message with as much crap cut out of it as possible (and it doesn’t hurt to remember the Hippocratic Oath either). Awareness cannot be taught by those who repress it within themselves. If we can’t dare to examine or make fun of our own language, our own stereotypes, our own idols, then we are in no better position to teach self-development than Dick Cheney. In that respect, the urgent advice of the old Chinese poet I’ve translated applies: Lao Tzu said “diminish, diminish, diminish.” A couple thousand years later, a French children’s writer named St. Exupery reminded us again that “a thing is not perfect when nothing more can be added, but when nothing more can be taken away.”

***

I did read it, but too mired in transmission infrastructure and the decline of civilization to focus.

***

I read it and I liked the opening paragraph. Thanks for the audio. You’ve got an engaging radio voice.

***

My guess is that you may have caught some flak for this email. It struck me a little strangely but I’ve been reading you for almost a decade now and I don’t worry too much about a one-off odd email. I know your work is very thorough, well thought out and well intentioned. But this is the first communique where the tone was a bit “I’m above it all”, possibly alienating some readers. And at this point you probably have evolved above it but please consider the following:

I no longer have much need for New-Agey stuff (it served it’s purpose in the ’90s but where I vibrate now has no need for it). So take this into consideration: We all evolve at different rates and are born into this world at different levels – very old souls, new souls and everything in between. You could have readers that are on slightly lower rungs of evolution, or vibration. It can take a combination of thought inputs and practices to allow a person to reach for the next vibrational rung on the ladder of spirit evolution. You may even have a few republican readers ๐Ÿ˜‰ Get the point? If we are in service, then the widest possible audience is in service to our service. Sometimes we serve by example, sometimes with an article or deed. But never with alienation.

One other thing: I spotted that your graphic (meant to be interpreted derogatorily) included tarot cards. I distinctly remember reading that you yourself have pulled cards to aid with readings – perhaps that image was ill advised.

Look to your own chart and see if you can see the lesson.

You know what my dream marketing email would cite? Something along theses lines (my personal belief): “The World is an Illusion and Astrology gives us the sign posts to it, for yoursef and the World at large.” That is a very Mayan thought, in line with our times.

But don’t worry about me, I’m already sold! ๐Ÿ™‚ Hang in there kid, we all have our slightly uncomfortable learning curves.

***

My first reaction was “what” and then I laughed and thought your life is more exciting than mine at the moment but the vestal virgins gave it away, where would you find that many virgins. I also saw you dressed like that in my mind maybe a past life thing.

***

It’s funny in a Jane magazine kinda way… Whatever happened to Jane?

Well, I’ve been following your articles for quite some time.

Thanks for the great astrological insight. I look forward to meeting you again some day…

***

I thought it was very amusing and read it in the spirit it was intended. I also thought it made a valid point, which is the most important aspect of it rather than its amusement value.

Of course, experience tells me that there are reincarnations of Isis living in Glastonbury and elsewhere who might be offended, particularly by the paragraph beginning ‘It isn’t cluttered…’ It reads as if Planet Waves readers are just that bit superior. But that is the only part I would have changed, by giving it a different tone of voice.

Have you had complaints, or are you anticipating them? Hope you are doing well and going from strength to strength.

***

To poke fun however lightly intended, wasn’t a highly intelligent thing to do. And I stand by my e-mail yesterday that I seriously wish to unsubscribe to Planet Waves SL Horoscopes and all your other mailings.

***

Long time no see! In answer to your question, this promo got my attention. So I’d say it was a good one. It made me read it. I would have liked to have seen the photo of “eric’s yard sale” a bit larger.” (The detail was lost.) So I give it a thumbs up. Speaking of upgrading – and I’m going to be honest here – the organization of your site is finally one I can understand. Yay!

***

Your “promo” seemed mean-spirited and intellectuo-elitist, making me consider completely unsubscribing from your service. If you aren’t getting the response that you expect from your service, maybe you should consider that you have run out of like minded astro-reporters. From my observation, people are reaching for more heart-centered approaches to…well, everything these days.

***

I’ve been following your (free) writing for years and have spoken to you once or twice when you were doing the radio pod casts last summer. I’m not a subscriber …. I’m unemployed., or work without pay, might be a better way to put it. Was on your complimentary list for a while.

I want to give you this totally off the cuff response to your promo. There was something off putting about it. I opened it very quickly, glanced at it without really reading it — I think the phone rang or I was on my way out — closed it and didn’t feel particularly drawn to opening it again.

Just a gut feeling and quite different than my usual interest in what comes from planet waves. Now I’ll have to go back and have a look. BTW, thought your April Fools’ posting was pretty damn funny.

All the best in your continued process as brew master of all those cosmic juices distilling their essences into an imbibable form of important work

***

I loved it!

***

Just a short reply from Nuremberg: I thought this was kinda funny. I hope you won’t be exposed to a cyber sh**storm from New Age fairytailia, though ๐Ÿ˜‰

Being attracted to thelemic philosophy to a certain extent I’d say that e.g. some ceremonial stuff (incense, robes, etc) CAN be supportive on a psychological, personal level. It does not necessarily imply anything supernatural or even outside the human brain. Heck, neuro-science tells me that there is no “true will” at all – and still it is possible to try and find out what my life’s about. This could be complete nonsense to everybody else but bring forth positive results for my life anyway.

Many new agers (at least over here in my hometown) seem to be content with just digging up the right crystals & stuff as a mandatory necessity to get started. There’s a lot of “you have to’s & thou shalt not’s”. To be honest, the same seems to apply to magickal groups also. Fiddling with the subconscious always confronts us with our personal dogma…

Whether we’re all on a road to 2012, to a new aeon, to extinction or to the return of some Maya godlike entity doesn’t matter. What’s important is not to trade one superstition for the other. Pokin’ some fun on each others mindsets might help us get a good laughter from time to time. Laughing is the best banning technology against, um, stupid thinking plus it makes most people look sexy ๐Ÿ˜‰ To cut it short, I appreciate the PW route very much. The 2012-checklist you recently mailed still keeps me thinking and answering is no easy task, indeed. I find working on these questions way more helpful, constructive, whatever you name it, than e.g. reading my birthday horoscope.

P.S.: as a Gemini my “superstitious weak spot” is mercury retro ;)) That’s when I find myself consulting PW more often than any other time in the year…

***

Thank you for the opportunity to offer feedback. I confess that I was a little bemused by the wording of the promotion, which seemed in places somewhat other than light-hearted. I suppose my own attitude to “New Age” practices is to find absurd those that are most showy and insincere. In my view, integrity, honesty and humility are of the greatest importance to the power of any spiritual path. As such, I understand the sentiment the author wanted to express, but there seemed to be a good deal of confusion regarding what, exactly, was being held up to ridicule; specifically, I felt that some practices with a substantial and potent tradition, for example the use of incense, channeling, and the concept of the Inner Child (one that recently has been of great benefit to me in dealing with real and horrible past trauma), were being lumped together with the disingenuous and inconsiderate actions that unfortunately blight modern Western spirituality. I hope I am making sense here, and please do not view all this as a complaint. I have always valued your able remarks and insights, and will continue to do so. As a student of astrology myself, you are one of my chief inspirations, and a consistent reminder of the benefits of independent thought.

***

It works guys, I love your stuff, but I’m probably not ever going to pay for a horoscope service, (I know you are more than that.) You can take me off your list if it helps you, a friend sent it to me. Good Luck.

I thought it was funny, but maybe a little harsh. Many of us who study and love astrology are New Agey and grounded, as well.

I loved it and if I had the money, I would be your biggest fan…..I just discovered you and your site, and LOVE it for one reason, there’s no BS, you speak in English and you present the information is such a way as to provoke thought, not scare the shit out of me with all the bad stuff coming down the pike! We are all in control of our destinies, it’s simply a matter of taking responsibility for it!

Keep up the great work!

***

I thought it was funny— many years ago I participated in a few rituals that were like that. I tried to be serious about it, but all I could do was giggle inside. Who needs all those trappings? It’s like the new version of the Catholic Church— no offense intended.
I don’t need that distracting me from a sincere connection to Spirit. It may help others to focus in, but it’s not for me!

***

Thank you for taking the time in posting this audio. I found it to be very educating and informative in relation to past, present and future alignments from the planets activity- in connection to what “is” and “has been” happening across the globe. I especially appreciate the way you have put your words into lemans terms as for the greater population (including myself) who are not as knowledgeable of the planets alignments and there impact on the face of the earth.

In response to your audio, I strongly feel that we definitely do have to find a meeting point of the minds for a level of acknowledgement and awareness that is acceptable. I have read your past postings on “the Sixties” and I can’t somehow stop to think that given the love, peace and healing that came out of that period in time “does” have something to do with a strong calling to those born, or who have lived through that specific time frame. Could this be the “calling” for a connection to be made to heal the earth?

I have posted a note for all my contacts on my Facebook to checkout your sample reading. Please keep up the excellent work!

***

I only ever offer things up to the planetary oracle as an honest “be here now” contribution! BP were described today as very good at placing themselves in the market…but very poor at execution (sic).

***

I thought it was hilarious and fun! People take things much to seriously, especially ‘spritual’ types. Keep on keepin’ on!

***

I responded to it with a smile and a chuckle. Very well written Eric. Thank you for all of the good work that you do.

***

I like your column. I am putting three sons thru college, which is why I haven’t subscribed, money for just the most basic now. Have studied astrology in the past, so I appreciate the info you compile as well as your approach in most things. Receiving your postings makes it easier to stay in touch with astrological influences. Glad u do it. Sorry I can’t be more supportive.

***

I got a chuckle out of it. One great turnoff to all the healing arts is the people who take themselves so seriously. There’s a big difference between being a professional and some pretentious dress-up.

***

The second half, describing Planet Waves actually is good. The first part I didn’t care for at all. Thank you for Planet Waves, it and you are brilliant.

***

I liked it but just for the briefest of moments I thought it was for real because I was reading in a small window and couldn’t see the WHAT??!! Without scrolling down although, on reflection, the sound cue is a dead give away, anyway, I was so disappointed for that brief moment like I have to unsubscribe to this immediately – what a let down!! I enjoyed the fun poking!

***

I thought it was right on…Love that you delve into politics and deal with what is going on in the world around us.

***

I thought it was great. Sometimes (many times) people take themselves far too seriously. I love the humor…it was well written and right on target!

***

I was still recovering from a car accident (July 2001- Pluto retro, and a mars sq mars) when we met. I was running at about 45% then. I can happily say that I am 99% most of the time now. I now live right outside of the city, right on the ocean in a community of like minded people. I can easily say that my place on the beach satisfies most of my criteria for a vacation, so life here is good. 10 minutes from Boston. I have expanded my practice and I still love what I do! I understand about the “break even” aspect of getting paid to be who we are, makes things tight, but wouldn’t go back to the corporate world for anything. Working on health care reform and making some waves. Fun! I know you are working your magic as well. You have been an inspiration and the voice of consolation and optimism for me over the years.

***

I thought it was great! Go Amanda! I hope you get more subscribers with it. I love the creativity and the great diversity of Planet Waves. It has given me to courage to quit my day job and venture out on my own. The daily oracle, most times it’s like it’s specifically for me! Thank you so much! Once I am established, ie: can pay my household expenses and support my son on my own, I will be come a subscriber too!

***

I thought it was clever and creative. I know that you are the real deal. You don’t need to be clever, however because you are a straight shooter.

I enjoyed the e-mail, and I very much appreciate your take on things, astrologically/spiritually/PRAGMATICALLY. I feel like the New Age stuff had to be somebody’s really great strategy to take a lot of us out of the mainstream of Intentionality, and has crippled us energetically in many ways. The only reason I am not a current subscriber (I have been reading you for years) is financial. You are as far as I’m concerned the standard by which I measure astrologers. You’re the best, and aside from the excellent information, you are a tremendously evolved and loving human being (or if you’re not a human being, I hope I get to be what you are someday). ๐Ÿ™‚

Well done! I’m more than a bit tired of the New-Agey astrology websites. I appreciate that you keep it real, yet manage to uplift me at the same time. Keep up the fantastic work.

I was thinking last night about the “promo” email and I thought to myself, of all the Planet Waves pages and all that is Planet Waves, that was one I really felt was way under par.

I understand you are trying to promote Planet Waves – I can feel that the site needs money flow. However, while it’s true that the “mystic” image entry does exist and I’ve seen plenty of that type of astrological/metaphysical presentation — as I read the email, it didn’t ring true.

Maybe coming from a “negative” place, albeit in fun, about the very “world” you write about was a misstep, I don’t know. It’s very hard for an artist to be their own press/publicity agent. I can see you having a syndicated radio show. The Los Angeles Times had Joyce Jillson doing a horoscope section and she was a good astrologer – however newspapers are slowing going into extinction. I wouldn’t even suggest the NY Times – although I don’t see why not.

I get you Eric – and I get your frustration at neophytes. You would do well to do television and as much as it pains me to say this, going with the “prediction” route works because people want to know what is going to happen.

Look at what happened to James Van Pragh after appearing on ‘The View’. He told Barbara Walters about some health concerns (not on the show, but privately and she pooh-poohed him – well – she found out the hard way.).

Planet Waves is very much above most people’s heads and also interest. That’s my nickel on the table.

***

I used to subscribe to your forecast when you first started. I urged Jonathan Cainer to employ you, as a bright young rising astrologer. Over the years I begin to think you were terribly self indulgent and fixated on sex and your environmental busting role in New York. I forget what it was about. Your dorm and some environmental disaster. I think you are an original. I don’t want to pay money to read you. I did like you once, because you seemed fresh. I think if you broadened your outlook and stepped up to a larger role it would be very interesting.

***

I am not an astrologer so I am not able to evaluate all the ins and outs of your specific abilities. I am just telling you why you lost a subscriber. I did think you were personally nice and your staff people were. I read everything that you email me.

***

What an extraordinary gift! Thank you! I loved it, it is so right on!

***

This is an extraordinarily Biblically challenging time for me; yet the promises are arresting. Your gift has helped me, even spiritually, and I really needed that, like a friend, just now.

***

I chuckled and laughed. It was entertaining and was written in a style such as the reader felt you were speaking directly to them – I especially like the part about the fairies. As for your horoscopes – I seem to remember not reading it because it was dated to a prior date in time and was not current – I’m not sure what the date said but it wasn’t June 2010. Overall, it made me want to sign up to your planet waves on a subscription basis. I found it an effective and fun marketing “ploy” if that’s what it was meant to be. Thanks for the free audio … I found you through Jonathan Cainer’s site when you wrote for him one week long ago and have been a fan ever since.

I thought it was good and fun and smart! And it made its point.

Brilliant. It gave my mashed Gemini head a much needed laugh.

  1. Loved it.

Poking fun at an easy target…. no biggy.
    ย
It neither offended or cleared anything up.ย  I had the same misgivings I usually feel which are that I wish I could send Planet Waves more $$ but I am myself, at this time, rather broke financially.

Keep up the great work and I’ll do my part from here.

I’m a subscriber who is also still on the samples list. Generally speaking, that sort of a promo doesn’t do much for me, but the things that led me to subscribe to begin with were: integrity; lack of advertising; the intuitive nature of your horoscopes (I can’t tell you how many times I’ve read something you’ve produced that was spot on with where I found myself); the dedication to global issues and looking beneath the media chatter; the way in which Planet Waves challenges its readers to think and intuit on a much deeper level than the surface noise; the willingness of Planet Waves to extend a free subscription to me during a time when I couldn’t afford one. Not to mention how much I have learned about astrology over the years that I’ve subscribed. And Len’s work, so glad that you started featuring his work after he stood in for you a while back. I know this response isn’t what you were looking for when you sent this out, but there it is!
    Keep up the great work!

My response to your promo clearly shows that you are quite the
marketeer. It was humorous and right on as usual. Your level of
intelligent offerings are intended to reach a certain audience of high
caliber and I have no doubt that they will continue to do so.

    ***

I thought it was funny! I preferred it to emotionally biased political commentaries.

    Thanks for asking.

    ***

I hope you are well, I wish I could afford the luxury of having your complete subscription service. It’s been a struggle for me as a musician and artist to get anywhere with the general public. People seem to get offended when I ask that they buy some of my CDs or anything….What’s up with that? I’d certainly be willing to pay it forward. I buy all kinds of art and music every chance I get.

Didn’t have time to read it, went straight to the subscribing links. I will choose the “recurring”. I’ve been away for a bit. Time to come back.

    ***

Personally I enjoy your astrological prognostications, and thought your
little “dig” at the light and fluffy side of the new age movement to be most
    amusing, and highly accurate!

Keep up the great work. Your contribution is invaluable!

On the face of it, $88.00 dollars seemed a lot for a horoscope, especially
when money’s been tight and it’s hard to justify when there are other
expenses to pay. It’s kind of like when I’ve gone to have my tarot cards
read and I spend the money to see if my money is going to increase and I’m
out the money I should be socking away. Then I saw that you offered a
recurring payment plan, which didn’t seem so bad. I started to question as
to whether after 12 months of recurring payments, would I be notified as to
whether I wanted to continue or cancel at that time. That would be my most
    likely option.

I have found that when the horoscopes have been sent for the sign of virgo,
it has touched a chord with what has been going on in my life. There’s a
piece of me that wants to believe that it is intended for me ,but I suppose
the skeptic in me remembers somebody saying that any of these horoscopes can
apply to anyone at any given time. I think probably at the core of my
hesitation is that although the horoscope, the tarot and all that hooha
fascinate me to a certain degree, I’m a little afraid of it. I want to know
what my future holds for me on one level and on the other I don’t.

I think it’s probably all the same reasons that I don’t sign up for Jonathan
Cainer or any of these other sites.

I don’t know if that helps you or not. I hope it did.

I’d LOVE to subscribe! The few times I’ve read articles from friends’ subscriptions my desire is reinforced. Am emerging from a – karmic would not be an inaccurate, if not entirely satisfactory, term – situation of having been rather tossed into the brink, resource wise, and have needed to focus on necessities. This is improving considerably – YAY – and will continue to. It has not been for lack of high regard, brother, but an unnatural lack that is giving way to abundance, which I look forward to sharing with you.

I look forward with confidence to becoming a regular and grateful subscriber.

    You rock.

    ***

I thought it was very cute and I felt it got your message across in a fun
way. I think that it brought me a little closer to ordering your horoscope.

    ***

    Well…

being wiccan I wasn’t upset by it, if that’s the concern.ย  It was obviously done in fun – evident from the first sentence on (though I rather wondered at first if it was some fantasy of yoursย  :-).

That said, I wasn’t particularly sure what to think, either.ย  I’m a critically minded person, work in software, raise kids, live in the suburbs (despite that description I can’t claim to be mainstream but I’m not fringe, either) and absolutely appreciate your writing for its down-to-earth practicality.ย  Your writing seems to have the agenda of asking readers to examine themselves and their lives , which I’m typically very willing to do.ย

But I’m not sure poking fun at the ritually minded new-agers will increases sales, since we’re part of your target group, I think… but I might be wrong about that.ย

    ***

Spot on with my personality! And with Planet Waves, in my opinion. You
    guys rock.

    ***

My response? Uhm well I thought it was funny. I thought there might be
people who won’t feel comfortable about it. I thought “yep, but you have
to know Eric’s work to know, really Know, how true this is.”

And I also thought it was educational. For people who do respond like
lemmings to purple flowing robes etc.

    ***

I liked the promo- I like astrology, but am often turned off by lots of psychic claims that a few other astrology web sites make. While I do sometimes feel uncanny things can happen, I don’t think anyone can use “psychic powers” at will, on request (& for a price).

I do still like getting your emails, I just haven’t been able to put aside much money for much besides essentials lately. I especially enjoy your political commentary. So you may continue sending the samples until I have a better situation.

    ***

I didn’t like it. It seemed to collude with those who dismiss at all
things esoteric. I think people interested in celebs/ wll he ask me on
date/will i win the lottery/scopes etc will avoid the web site and
people who want to expand their knowledge/look at things
differently/rethink/connect with other planes of being etc will find
it. I can’t see the group in between , the open minded skeptics and
judgment suspending cynics being attracted. Hey but what do i know.

    ***

I totally approved of that promo ๐Ÿ™‚

    ***

I am an astrologer myself, so I didn’t find such a ‘disclaimer’ necessary or helpful … To be honest, I don’t think it’s helpful to you, either, and wonder at the reason or feeling which gave rise to the idea?

Eric’s work speaks for itself; the best argument for the value of good astrological interpretation is in the work.

    ***

scanned & didn’t read most of it

Planet Waves isn’t a big priority for my reading time

    ***

I was okay with it because I often cringe at the froo-froo New Agers, but I also felt slightly bad for those who believe in those things because I thought it could offend some. All in all, I liked the writing and it grabbed my attention. I almost never read things like that.

    ***

It gave me a big fat grin :). I like it when you poke fun at stuffy and
    IMO stupid stuff – liberating!

    ***

It was different – quite a sales pitch!
