New edition of Planet Waves on its way to subscribers

New issue is on its way.

In this week’s premium subscriber issue of Planet Waves, Eric commemorates the Roe v. Wade decision by reading its chart — or, rather, both its charts. It turns out that a difference of 44 seconds in the time for the decision makes a difference in the rising sign, and the implications of both of those two charts carry significant meaning. It’s almost poetic, actually.

To read the full issue, which includes this week’s horoscopes for all 12 signs plus an assortment of astro-news briefs, you may purchase the issue individually here. Or, if you sign up for a one-month free trial subscription, you can get our twice-weekly mailings and be eligible for the subscriber discount on LISTEN, the 2013 year-ahead annual readings.

  1. Thank you so much for responding Amanda and Len! So my eyes aren’t so bad after all. I just know that when I saw those two staring at each other across my chart I felt a pull in my low belly, a startle, a bit of fear and awe. I will review Eric’s writings about Borasisi. Magdalena, a woman erased except for her outlines and Borasisi laid down on paper by a man who may also have had an intractable allergy to dogma. So interesting. I wonder how their conversation is going.

  2. susyc – thank you for your questions, and Amanda, thank you for the answers and the handoff. Please forgive the delay in response, i havn been away from the Planet Waves site for most of today, researching, writing and preparing for a consultation. So, Amanda has cleared up the opposing signs. susyc, you know a lot, have faith in yourself. Your point about spirituality and “an intractable allergy to dogma” is not only well taken but an inspiring bit of poetry.

Now, for Magdalena and Borasisi. Eric has written a lot about Borasisi, and if you enter that name in the field next to the “search” button on the right hand column of this website you will be able to bring up the wealth of Eric’s world-class work. My own work is the service i hope you will accept as a poor addendum to Eric’s work.

First some basics. Magdalena is an asteroid in the main belt between Mars and Jupiter. It was discovered September 24, 1891. Borasisi is a trans-Neptunian object that crosses out past the orbit of orbit of Pluto. It was discovered on September 8, 1999. Magdalena, of course, carries the name of a great and underrated human being who probably did exist, although the facts of her life have succumbed to legend.

Borasisi’s name comes from a work of fiction, “Cat’s Cradle”, by the Kurt Vonnegut (himself a great human being). Both objects have a discovery chart that supports the serendipity of their respective names. Both were discovered while in Aquarius.

Magdalena’s name invokes the Divine Feminine. In its discovery chart it was conjunct Ceres to within a few arc minutes, and less than two degrees from exact conjunction with Juno. Ceres and Juno are, of course also representations of the Divine Feminine. The Sun was in Libra when Magdalena was discovered. Libra is ruled by Venus.

Borasisi, by the way, was in Virgo on Magdalena’s discovery chart, along with Mars, Mercury, Saturn, and Black Moon Lilith. Virgo also evokes the Devine Feminine, perhaps more than any other sign. You get the picture.

Borasisi was a fictional creation deity within fictional work. Fiction within fiction, but also something very powerful about belief, whether its object is fictitious or not. In Borasisi’s discovery chart Magdalena was in Sagittarius, closely conjunct the Great Attractor. We don’t know what the Great Attractor is, we have no way of attaining direct information about it, but we know what it does. The immense gravity of the Great Attractor is pulling millions of galaxies toward it, including ours, while it retreats away from all that it attracts at the same immense speed.

So you see, susyc, you know more than you give yourself credit for, and your natal opposition of Magdalena and Borasisi, two aspects of the divine looking each other in the face, is no surprise. It is also no surprise that the Divine Feminine lives in you. Thank you for allowing me to be of service to you, to the divine.

  3. susyc — maybe Len can help you out with Magdelena opposite Borasisi? I haven’t worked with Magdelena at all.

but yes, Sag and Gem are across the wheel from each other. they are opposite signs on the mutable cross.

the other pairs of opposite signs are:

    aries-libra (cardinal)
    taurus-scorpio (fixed)
    gemini-sagittarius (mutable)

    cancer-capricorn (cardinal)
    leo-aquarius (fixed)
    virgo-pisces (mutable)

  4. Please? I know this is back a ways and old news, but I am really curious to get someone who knows more than me to help me. I am not sure if Sag is directly across from Gemini; I got that just from eyeballing the chart. But anyway I hope there is enough info for someone to give me a few hints about it. My own feeling is that it speaks to deep spirituality and an intractable allergy to dogma. But what do I know. Thanking you in advance, susy

  5. I was interested to see mention of Magdalena. I checked her out on my chart–she is at 21 degrees in Gemini and looking to be directly opposite Borasisi at 21 degrees in Saggitarius. All else is beyond me. But I just thought it was interesting. Thoughts anyone?

  6. We kind of worked 18 hours a day. I published my “to do list” (LISTEN endgame version) at the end of the weekly edition this week. Actually the editing team had about 50 other tasks, including tying together the whole annual edition and its marketing program…that all said an done it’s nice to have the weekend off.

  7. Thanks, Eric. Very helpful and educational – as Len notes; both as to Roe v. Wade and how to work with the ascendant in a chart.

  8. I’ve never seen this concept expressed so well before (from Cancer horoscope) “I believe it’s necessary to take care of yourself so you can participate in taking care of others, but that’s another way of seeing beyond your own life as the cosmic be-all”.Thank you, Eric. You guys must have been working round the clock to get this done AND Listen. Thank you Eric, Amanda, all of you, for your unceasing hard work, talent, for your brave and generous hearts. And have a good weekend!!

  9. This may be the best thing every written on Roe v. Wade, with or without the astrology (which is an instructive example of how to deal with a “ascendant”). Thank you.
