No doubt the nature of the work we (must) create out of this chaos will be based in a different value system that that of most jobs (that were recently available) today.
Perhaps a certain “apathy” toward the current model is another word.
Vis a vis laziness, this is a weird environment in which to be hiring people.
It may be the combination of deskilling, the paring away at confidence and the antisocial environment propagated by the internet, but it’s just a little weird encountering the people who think they are looking for work.
“the entire Congress should dismiss itself for permanent recess.”
Got my vote.
Aword:
Unfortunately you’re not dreaming. John McCain and Carl Levin are co-sponsoring that bill.
Between that and the Internet Protection Act– SOPA, the entire Congress should dismiss itself for permanent recess. Too out of it to deal with reality.
Am I dreaming?:
“US Senate To Vote On Bill That Will Allow The Military To Arrest Americans On American Soil And Hold Them Indefinitely”

Thank you, Fe.
Here’s something on Cain’s chart info from Nancy’s site, which could explain the free-fall:
Amazing how things keep “coming up:” late word is of a woman who had a 13 year affair with Herman Cain. Will this be the torpedo that finally sinks his ship?
Did this get spammed or not? I’m having issues with WordPress…
Love love love this new feature!
Shanna:
This link is from (like it or not) Andrew Ross-Sorkin’s “Dealbook” which is a kind of gossip salon for the financial class at the New York Times. This article talks about how really tough a judge Rakoff is.
http://dealbook.nytimes.com/2011/11/28/behind-judge-rakoffs-rejection-of-s-e-c-citigroup-settlement
oh, ha! Sure. I thought perhaps there was a case back then I’d missed. Martian slip-time, indeed.
Shanna: My error on the date. Please forgive my typo. Interesting that Mars was in Virgo (like it is now) in July of 2010. Guess you would call that a “Martian Time Slip”.
Len: Did I miss something about the date?
Fe: Curious to see if Rakoff gets to stay on this case. Was welcome news, though.
Get a limb. Oh dear me.
Jen Sorensen: Thank you for nailing the point and tickling the funny bone simultaneously.
Shanna: Thank you for the link. A thoughtful judge, who woulda’ thunk it? That’s encouraging. Do you think Citi will claim double jeopardy because the trial is scheduled in July of 2010?
Did anyone catch this yet?
Judge rejects Citigroup settlement offer:
Judge Jed Rakoff said that the settlement announced last month, under which Citi neither admitted nor denied the SEC’s allegations, deprived the public “of ever knowing the truth in a matter of obvious public importance.”
He instead ordered Citi to face trial over the allegations in July 2012.
“[I]n any case like this that touches on the transparency of financial markets whose gyrations have so depressed our economy and debilitated our lives, there is an overriding public interest in knowing the truth,” Rakoff, a U.S. district judge in Manhattan, wrote in his decision.
Note the date of the trial.
