Eiffel Tower Moment more appropo than know:

“The structure was built between 1887 and 1889 as the entrance arch for the Exposition Universelle, a World’s Fair marking the centennial celebration of the French Revolution.”

“The tower was much criticised by the public when it was built, with many calling it an eyesore. Newspapers of the day were filled with angry letters from the arts community of Paris.”

The tower was build as a testiment to the status and power of a newly rebuilt/designed Paris (as in tear down the “ghettos and build a pretty pretty world embrassing* I meant “embracing” all the new Age of STEAL and Technology.

The art community (at least) was not at all happy when the Eiffel was not torn down at the end of the World’s Fair (as was originally planned, I believe).

“The Champ de Mars (French pronunciation: [ʃɑ̃ də maʁs]) is a large public greenspace in Paris, France, located in the seventh arrondissement, between the Eiffel Tower to the northwest and the École Militaire to the southeast. The park is named after the Campus Martius (“Mars Field”) in Rome, a tribute to the Roman god of war. The name also alludes to the fact that the lawns here were formerly used as drilling and marching grounds by the French military.”

    Fe,
So, is “champs” more like field of contest than a pastoral field? Do you know if the name came before the consctuction or after? Interesting that AFTER Mars moved into Scorpio the threat went underground, literally, and a subway station near the Notre Dame cathedral (subject of many Eric phootos) was evacuated for a similar threat.

    Len:

Not certain, but I think it was near the Field of Mars. I will check it out on Google.

Pulling it down with no sense of style whatsover. They need to strengthen the laws further if they want to preserve the culture of fashion, or it will be voted out in 20 years due to the birth rates of a certain group. Coco Chanel got us out of corsets and long skirts many many years ago, but how many women today appreciate it, or even know that she did such a thing? It’s like the freedoms we are giving up in the USA, or that we’ve already given up. I am getting a little ticked off that so much media attention is given to the rights of people who care so little about real freedom, when the media should be giving it the attention it deserves – file 13.

News Flash: Eiffel Tower evacuated in bomb scare just as Mars is in the last few arc minutes of Libra. Eric, is it not correct that the plot of land on which the ET is situated is named after Mars? Mars garden, plains of Mars, i don’t know French very well. One would assume this has to do with the plans to ban veils in France. Mars in Scorpio lifting the veil or pulling it down?
