Carly:
Hope we can always empower each other in the process of sifting through the days. Thanks.
Hi Fe,
I agree 100% on the pandering. Maybe I’m being overly hopeful but I think that the public is getting to a “mad as hell” point that is not going to settle for a slap on the wrist after so many lies that have led to the impoverishment of wealth and spirit that we’re going through. Not this time.
Separately, many thanks for all your thoughtful and insightful analysis over the years, especially lately. You tie things together very nicely without telling people what to think, just making very astute observations that give me cause to keep working at making things better.
Peace.
Fe –
You mentioned the “knives” being in the row behind them. . .which includes Rupert’s wife. . .who slapped at/down the merry prankster with the pie.
Carly58:
Agreed. Though what I meant about the public shaming is that politicians do these hearings as a form of societal blood-letting to let the public get a vent for their outrage. Otherwise AKA pandering.
Murdoch aggressed – video
Rebekah apologizes – tv live
This is the title appearing right now on one of the two main Italian newspapers, online.

Sexism – why not:
Rupert aggressed – video
Brooks apologizes – tv live
???
Sad, but it’s not a news.
Well, Fe, I’ve been watching this all morning and agree that what we’re seeing is a dress rehearsal. I found the Murdochs to be unprepared and disingenuous. (Is it possible to be both at once?) As for being a public shaming, I’m not sure that either of them is bright enough to be ashamed. “Contrite” is not necessarily the adjective I’d use to describe their attitude. Obtuse (on purpose?) and unapologetic while casting blame on others is more like it. If they didn’t have a clue about how their organization is being run by those who they trusted to do the right thing, then they should be jailed for gross incompetence and nepotistic greed. Enron Redux, no?
There’s way more to come. I just hope that the people we’re depending on to actually do something about this don’t chicken out or get bored before the end game has been achieved.
Can’t WAIT to catch Cameron’s act after this sideshow.
This, in political theater, is dress rehearsal. It’s also a form of public shaming, which is probably as far as this can go for now. The rest will be based on what charges are going to be brought, and their prosecution.
For now, the Murdochs are going to put on their show of contrition. The “knives” are in the row behind them — their solicitors.
