Bagpipes in Solidarity

What is amazing is that the Fire Department is not one of the unions the governor is trying to bust — they endorsed the guy. But they send in their bagpipes (a Fire Department tradition) in support of the all-night occupation of the Capitol Building in Madison, Wisconsin.

Aries and shine, James Madison.

  1. Yeah me too, Amanda, I can’t quite watch it yet, just the thought is enough to make me all teary.

I am beyond thrilled that this happened. In a nation that is logy from terrible bathetic melodrama pumped into everyone’s veins all the time, a genuine dramatic gesture like this is a tonic for the soul, I say!

  2. ok, the sound quality with all the cheering in a big room with stone floors and walls is a little painful, but i have to say:

bagpipe processionals get me every frickin’ time. total emotional trigger, especially in the context of such a show of unity.
