Remains of Lindholm's Greenhouse in Scarborough, ME. The successful, long-established nursery, connected to the family residence, seemed like it was abandoned one day 10 years ago, with all the personal effects still in or scattered around the home. There was no sign of fire, though the scene resembled the aftermath of one. Google searches don't give a clue. Photo by Eric Francis.

Okay, ace investigative reporting work, Jacky – impressive.
This document says a lot: it tells us that the building was the issue from a municipal standpoint. In one search I saw, the revenue from the greenhouse was listed as $67K/year – not enough to sustain that building, the people, and also purchase supplies. Unlikely that the kinds of repairs necessary could be done with that little revenue as the basis — and the structure was pretty old. Also, it’s on the coast and taxes are pretty high.
The mystery remains as to why they left the house with all their personal effects after being there since at least 1982. I’ll place a call to the planning office of the town and see what I learn; after visiting that scene, I need some closure.
Excellent work. Thank you.
Hi Found this from 2007. Maybe someone from the town council can throw light on the mystery. http://www.scarborough.me.us/common/meetings/council/2007/ag_2007_05_16.pdf
