Astrology Ahead: Equinox, Mercury Retrograde and Hebe

There are some extra fun aspects to this week’s Mercury retrograde. For one thing, Mercury as it stations is conjunct the asteroid Hebe. She’s the young goddess girl who was the cup-bearer to the gods. Her symbol is a wine glass, but the top of the triangle is closed, suggesting her involvement in codependent situations; in Libra, this relationship theme is accented. Just two degrees away is Eros. So this is going to be an intriguing time for some in the neighborhood of love, in love, perpetration of love, victimhood of love and stiff love with a twist. Continue reading

Astrology Q & A: What is an ephemeris?

The ephemeris is the basic astrological tool. It is literally a schedule of the planets and their movement, with various other bits of information thrown in based on the publisher’s or author’s fetishes. As you will read in Wiki, the word means daily. It is an astronomical tool; it is not specifically made for astrologers. But since there are more of us than there are astronomers, we have helped keep them alive during times when they might otherwise have disappeared entirely (notably, plenty of times before the advent of science, which would have sort of delayed the invention of astronomy).
