Coming Soon: Libra New Moon
Venus and Mars are in mutual reception, each occupying one another’s signs. Traditional astrology cautions that both are weakly placed in their signs; Venus is in its detriment in Scorpio, and Mars is in its detriment in Libra. This is a fitting image of the locked-in pessimism associated with the global economic crisis currently unfolding. Continue reading

Astrology Ahead: Equinox, Mercury Retrograde and Hebe
There are some extra fun aspects to this week’s Mercury retrograde. For one thing, Mercury as it stations is conjunct the asteroid Hebe. She’s the young goddess girl who was the cup-bearer to the gods. Her symbol is a wine glass, but the top of the triangle is closed, suggesting her involvement in codependent situations; in Libra, this relationship theme is accented. Just two degrees away is Eros. So this is going to be an intriguing time for some in the neighborhood of love, in love, perpetration of love, victimhood of love and stiff love with a twist. Continue reading

Astrology’s Twin Reports In: The Great Planet Debate Wasn’t
MIke Brown, discoverer of Eris, reports in on the latest from the debate over what is and is not a planet. We are doing in astrology in a time when you really need to know some astronomy to fully appreciate it. It’s an amazing time to peek into that world, because astronomy is truly in a golden age. The discoveries are amazing, the personalities are interesting, and it is feeding astrology in the style of a banquet. Continue reading

Astrology Q & A: What is an ephemeris?
The ephemeris is the basic astrological tool. It is literally a schedule of the planets and their movement, with various other bits of information thrown in based on the publisher’s or author’s fetishes. As you will read in Wiki, the word means daily. It is an astronomical tool; it is not specifically made for astrologers. But since there are more of us than there are astronomers, we have helped keep them alive during times when they might otherwise have disappeared entirely (notably, plenty of times before the advent of science, which would have sort of delayed the invention of astronomy).
