Venus will station retrograde from the latter third of Gemini tomorrow. For nearly six weeks, the brightest planet in the sky will appear to move backwards from our perspective. The beginning of its apparent reverse motion puts us on notice that Venus will soon pass between Earth and the Sun. Venus starts its retrograde period in the midst of a long opposition to distant Quaoar, which has occupied Sagittarius since its discovery in 2002. Its opposition to Quaoar, taking place from the precise degree where Venus changes direction, symbolizes another kind of impending passage, into the season of your re-creation.
The word ‘recreation’ has pleasant connotations. There is no reason why the hyphenated term ‘re-creation’ should be any less fortunate. Venus’ role during its retrograde period will be as a reminder to feel fortunate about an apparent and auspicious opportunity to re-create yourself and the world.
The period between Venus’ retrograde station tomorrow and June 27, when the brightest planet resumes direct motion, will serve as a container of sorts. Within that temporal vessel, there will be an astonishing series of celestial events, one after the other, exceeding in auspiciousness any similar period in your lifetime. Taken as a whole, that series of events implies big changes in your life. Not the kind of changes that leave you feeling helpless and victimized either, but rather the kind you can participate with, as in a dance. That’s the promise held as Venus initiates the container of its retrograde period in opposition to Quaoar.
Quaoar is named after the creator of the Tongva people, first citizens of what is now Los Angeles, California. As the Tongva conceived it, Quaoar danced all the other deities, one after the other, into being. Each god or goddess so created joined in the dance, participating in the creation of the world. The chart for Quaoar’s June 4, 2002 discovery has a lot in common with its opposition to Venus at tomorrow’s retrograde station.
The Sun was in Gemini when Quaoar was discovered. Venus is in the process of transiting Quaoar’s discovery Sun three times. The second such transit will correspond very closely to Venus passing visibly in front of the Sun this coming June 5. Wait, there’s more. Quaoar’s discovery chart has the Moon at 26+ Pisces, precisely to the degree where the Moon will be when Venus stations retrograde tomorrow. Finally, the lunar nodes, where eclipses take place, were on an axis from Gemini to Sagittarius back in June of 2002, just as they are now. Also, just as we are now, Quaoar was discovered just days before a solar eclipse (June 10, 2002) and just weeks before a lunar eclipse (June 24, 2002). In other words, there is an astonishing and auspicious symmetry between Quaoar’s discovery and the temporal container it is initiating with Venus tomorrow.
Quaoar’s auspicious association with symmetry is also as literal as it is figurative. In the parlance of astronomers, an object with a perfectly circular orbit (of which there are none in reality) has a so-called ‘eccentricity’ of zero. Venus sets the standard of perfection with an eccentricity of 0.007. Quaoar’s orbital eccentricity is comparable at 0.039, which is astonishing for an object that ventures out past Pluto into the Kuiper Belt, a place where there are lots of things to bump into. That’s symbolically encouraging, however, considering all the events you and the rest of us are about to bump into.
After tomorrow’s Venus retrograde station, our celestial dance card will be full until Venus is in direct motion again. We have an annular solar eclipse this coming Sunday, with a lunar eclipse two weeks later. On June 5, Venus will transit the face of the Sun for the last time in this century, and a week after that transit Venus will appear in the East above the rising Sun, after having been in the western twilight for so long. Just days after the helical rise of Venus, we will have the second Gemini New Moon in a row, closely followed by the Cancer Solstice, and then by the first of six long-anticipated Uranus-Pluto squares with Saturn’s final direct station in Libra literally hours later. Three scant days after Saturn stations direct, Venus will too, and it will be a whole new sky, baby. If there’s anything to astrology, it will also be at least the beginning of a whole new world. It will be a world that you will have the opportunity to dance with and co-create as indicated by Venus’ opposition to Quaoar tomorrow. Of course, there are other stories.
There are many who would tempt you to be afraid of the belt of celestial events you and all of us are about to move through. You would do yourself no favor to heed those who foresee something to fear, however. Fear will only serve to bump you out of your life’s orbit and out of the circle of those who will be participating in the dance to re-create the world. Just being alive on Earth right now is your engraved invitation to that dance. Venus and Quaoar are as much as handing you that invitation and all you have to do is embrace the good fortune of being here to receive it.

This was an overnight change – and I can ‘sense’ my body’s intelligence working in unison to my mind. Now, with Venus in Gemini these past few days, this feeling has heightened. The words “he has no form, etc…” struck you as “familiar” and this symbol would suggest to me that the left side of the brain (logic, math, science, strategy, etc.) is the primary mode of operation for whatever the symbol represents. If this were so and the symbol represents your sense-of-self (your ascendant), then you could be experiencing and going through a process of re-balancing this polarity; getting in touch with feelings and imagination, or becoming less dependent on the mind and more in touch with the heart and the body.
During these times humanity as a whole is going through a balancing of extreme polarities of all kinds in order to further the process of evolution. I fear we have reached the point of diminishing returns on this chart. It is the reason so many astrologers won’t use anything but the classic (major) planets in delineation. Not saying it can’t be done though. However, finding a focus becomes a problem. I’m wondering if THAT is the focus. . . a lack of focus. Maybe Quaoar doesn’t WANT to be seen clearly. As I recollect, in his myth, he has no form and is neither male or female. Perhaps we are being thrown off from treating him as we would a person or an event. Afterall, he is the creative power and not something created. At this early hour I’m inclined to look at his discovery chart as a long list of possiblites for the human race. Pick a subject, find a corresponding astral symbol and connect the dots.
Had you noticed that the solar eclipse this Sunday is conjunct this chart’s Chaos? And that Chaos is conjunct it’s Mercury? As the light of dawn literally becomes visable out my bedroom window, I am believing this Quaoar chart might be a roadmap for humanity’s future to be utilized as we evolve, rather than a way to gain understanding of the symbol itself. Some things are better left unclarified until the right moment. I agree, this chart has much to teach us but perhaps we should wait until after the Lunar Eclipse on June 4, when the Moon will be opposite this chart’s Sun, less than one degree from exact, to draw any conclusions. Yes, Ariadne is at 5 Taurus in the discovery chart along with Okyrhoe at 6 Taurus, also Cupido is conjunct Ixion at 6 Sag.
There is another yod forming cluster at 16 17 18 Pisces, Eros 16, Ophelia 17, and Atlantis 18. Yikes, this one’s not pretty, Nessus 18 Cap sextile Atlantis 18 Pisces, both quincunx Sisyphus 18 Leo. (I have a natal yod at 18 cap 17 Pisces and 17 Leo, I recognize those spots!) We need to listen to this chart closely, it has MUCH to teach us.

I can relate to your excitement over all the yods, trust me! I just went through and added some points not shown in the Quaoar discovery chart myself. Was surprised at the absence of the 4 main asteroid goddesses, especially Pallas Athene conjunct Uranus, exactly. Also, a stackup of astral bodies at 17 Leo (trine Pluto and South node and sextile Saturn and the north node), namely Sappho, Hekate and Memoria. These bodies (and Sisyphus at 18 Leo) sextile the NN and Saturn to form a yod with Nessus at 18 Capricorn. Having seen a story earlier (PBS Newshour) about new outlooks and new money for the study of Altzheimers, I wondered if there was a message about that work in this chart. The energy of the yod is targeted to the Jupiter Venus conjunction in Cancer. Really a remarkable chart isn’t it?
I’m so glad you are studying all the yods too and particularly glad to learn about Ariadne. i take it she must be about 4 to 6 Taurus in this chart. With handsome Cyllarus opposite Ixion we have our work cut out for us don’t we? (Curious as to where Bacchus is in this chart now!) I have Quaoar in Libra conjunct my Ascendent, forming a cardinal cross with Asbolus in Cancer conjunct the MC, Saturn in Capricorn conjunct the IC, Sun in Aries conjunct the Descendent. With multiple yods involving the Ascendent, Saturn, Mercury(in Pisces), and Uranus(in Leo).
I noticed a bunch of yods in the Quaoar discovery chart. One thing I’m curious about is the 12th/6th house axis. In the Riyal chart, it is 0 00 Cap/Cancer. That is astonishing, does the Riyal program round up arc seconds or arc minutes? I know the Astrodienst program does on the chart display, but the actual degree, arc minutes/arc seconds are then listed in the data pages. For example, my natal Saturn is in Cap at 18 degrees, 0 arc minutes, 51 arc seconds, yet in the chart display, it’s listed as 18 degrees, 01 arc minutes, i.e. rounded up. I cast the Quaoar discovery chart using the Astrodienst program and got a 12th/6th axis of Sag 29 50′ 16″. Astrodienst has slightly different coordinates for Palomar Observatory, 33n19 116w53. Is that the difference?
About those Quaoar chart yods, there are a bunch of ’em, Be! Asbolus 29 Cap sextile Moon 26 Pisces, both quincunx Juno/Vertex conjunction 27 Leo, and the midpoint of the Asbolus/Moon sextile is occupied by the Uranus/Pallas conjunction 28 Aquarius. Uranus/Pallas is the bowstring, just like the Saturn/NN conjunction 17 Gemini is the bowstring of the Sedna/Jupiter conj Venus/Pluto yod. You could easily use this chart to teach about yods.
When I read the Stitch in Trine post last week with all its thread references, it made me think of Ariadne and her thread. (hmm, the Minotaur is kinda Taurean, yes?) Is there an asteroid Ariadne? Of course there’s an Ariadne, she’s asteroid #43, and a quick little dancer, moving almost half a degree a day. Her festivals involved dancing. (more dancing, Be!) Natally, I have Ariadne in Taurus, and so does Quaoar’s discovery. When I first stumbled upon her last week, she was in Taurus 7 in a trine with Mars Virgo 7, just 12 arc minutes past exact. Casting her in charts seems to add an interesting flavor. In Quaoar’s discovery, Ariadne forms a yod with a sextile to Mars, both quincunx Ixion. Put her on your dance card, peeps!

Another interpretation of Pisces in the above sentence would be drugs; recentlyI read somewhere that LSD is (finally) being tested to see if it has healing properties for psychological issues. Just thought I would throw that out there.
Patty, aword, I wish I had answers, but like Lunasoliel said “it demands concentration and time (with a minimum of knowledge of facts?)” but I’ve found even more to tie in the Quaoar discovery chart to the Venus starting her retrograde chart and to the Venus occult Sun chart. Really, it is way too coincidental. However, a dream has now pointed me to the crisis of hunger, but not because of a lack of food but a forgetfulness or absent-mindedness on the part of the provider. Earth? Man? Food for what, the tummy or the heart?
There is no Ceres shown in the Quaoar chart, but presently she’s in Taurus at 14 or 15 degrees. In the Quaoar chart, Sedna is at 17 Taurus (and part of the yod I mentioned earlier, and she sextiles Jupiter and Venus in Cancer) so presently Ceres is approaching her, the Quaoar chart Sedna. In the Venus occult Sun chart, Ceres and Sedna are conjunct (22-23 Taurus) signifying a new cycle for them. That makes me think that a food-for-the-tummy phase could be initiated involving food from the seas.
There is another yod in the Quaoar chart between Quaoar (10 Sag) sextile Neptune (10 Aquarius) with a double quincunx to Varuna (10 Cancer), and yes Linda, what I mean by that is the two sextiled planets connecting to the 3rd planet in a yod via a separate connection by each to it. In this discovery chart that might mean that Quaoar (dance into being) in Sagittarius (worldwide, greater understanding) joined by the imaginative Neptune (of the sea) in Aquarius (for mankind) will put pressure on Varuna (water god) in Cancer (food). Chiron in Capricorn at 7 degrees is opposite this Varuna. If we think of Chiron as a healer and Capricorn as ability to establish, then there is a potential in the discovery of Quaoar for increasing the food supply for mankind through sea life. It could mean other things too.
It is the synchronicity between Quaoar’s discovery chart, Len’s writing about Quaoar opposite Venus as she stations rx, and the present, little changing, astrology between Sedna, Varuna and Quaoar, along with Jupiter, Sun, and of course Venus, that has stunned me. It is so in-your-face blatant that I suspect Chiron is involved. Mars (action) in Virgo (healing) is opposite Chiron (healer) in Pisces (universal and of the sea). He and Mars have a sextile and trine going with Mercury, Ceres and Vesta in Taurus now, and so does Pluto in Cap. Pluto will retrograde over the Chiron in the Quaoar chart of 2002, then station within a degree of it, then move direct over it through November this year. I hope it means we will soon hear of secretly developing plans that will provide food for all, but especially the nations whose people are starving.
I would be interested to hear how these symbols might involve personal lives too. Much to think about.

I found a yod (of course) and it includes the sextile between Sedna (17 Taurus) and Venus conj Jupiter (17 Cancer) double quincunx Pluto (16 Sagittarius) conj South Node (17 Sagittarius) who opposes Saturn conjunct North Node (17 Gemini), proving once again that timing is everything.

Lovely to hear the message of No Fear today, as I face my own and try to turn them over to my HP. I fear for our planet, for life itself, and, at the other end of the spectrum, for my own silly little mortality. Makes my own little job interview and ongoing hunt seem trivial and pointless. But what is there to do in the face of such eventualities? Get up, eat breakfast, brush teeth, get dressed, be a loving presence for self and loved ones and those we meet throughout our day. Nothing but the beautiful present counts.
