Gemini Sun, Taurus Moon; Solar Eclipse Wednesday

Photo by Eric Francis.

Today is Monday, May 30, 2011. It is Memorial Day in the United States, the day set aside to honor military service members killed in the line of duty. Through the day, the Moon is in Taurus. The Sun is in Gemini, first decanate. The Gemini New Moon on Wednesday is a partial eclipse of the Sun. Before that happens, the Moon is making a series of conjunctions to Mars, Venus, Mercury and Sedna — then finally the Sun. Wednesday’s solar eclipse is the first of three eclipses: this one will be followed by a total lunar eclipse on June 15 and then another partial solar eclipse on July 1. The last days before an eclipse — even a relatively modest one like Wednesday’s — can fee like there is a quality of inevitability in the air. The ethers of intention are more flexible than they may seen even though eclipses tend to accelerate the sensation of personal events. Use your flexibility and open up to what you want. As we approach that vortex, the Moon will be our personal surfboard across the swells of feeling, to act, attract and communicate.

Remember that eclipses are pattern setting events. They are ways to establish, affirm or shift patterns in your life. This is a South Node eclipse, accenting the past — as a thing we may be caught up in, depending on, clinging to, or wanting to leave behind. You may already have been feeling it: a build up of feelings, memories and the compelling urge to push things to breakthrough. Relationships that matter, matter more. But where are you at? Am I (are we) doing enough to make this work? Am I (or you) at fault for anything you want not working? Is there something I (or you) can say to clear things up? Or is it best to pause, to listen and to allow someone close by to break their own silence rather than having you speak for them? Note that the personal planets are gathered in the sign/house prior to that of the New Moon. The accumulation of feelings is in Taurus; their expression is in Gemini. Therefore, pause and be patient through the next few days. Know what you want to say before you say it. Understand the purpose of your response before you respond. Create meaning that is responsive to your situation.

The coming solar eclipse involves a New Moon and that means we’re aching to move to something new. This eclipse will help you get there. But before it happens, we have a few days of witnessing and feeling these welling feelings. Today, the Moon’s conjunction in Mars makes us a bit edgy and itching to take a jump. You may feel your own frustration. I suggest you stay with the feeling rather than the sensation that there is something you must do about it. Follow it into a place you recognize — or alternately, one where you don’t know where you are. As we live through these lives on Earth, there is the ever present issue of the past and what to do about it. Today, let that question stand open.

  1. peppermint and sweet pea for Amanda on the last day of May

    warmth of feeling, delicate pleasures

  2. “how IS everyone today????”

    I am tired. Dave and I drove to Las Vegas, packed my father’s belongings, loaded the moving truck, drove it to Cottonwood, unloaded it, and set things up for him. In between, Dave and I had a great time relaxing in the jacuzzi at the hotel, watching porn, and having a lot of fun sex.

    Today I am just worn out from all that work and driving.

    Looking forward to several things this week: my friend, Nariade, and I will be talking on the phone for the first time, my three daughters graduate high school this week (one of them graduates two years early), another friend and I might converse for the first time as well, we get ready to go to Denver for Dave’s seminar (my Dad is loaning me the cash to bring the family), and I have to finish the other paperwork for my Dad’s move.

    I have conversed deeply with Nariade online since 1997; she is a Pisces too and born three days later than I in the same year.

    My dad also said he would loan me the money to go back east to see his mother, my Grandmother, this summer. I am overjoyed because that means I can take the kids to see her and to see Washington DC, the monuments, the Smithsonian museums and then drive to Asheville to see Biltmore House and then down to Florida to visit my friend, Rachell and her family.

    Because I am tired, (as well as well sated) my feelings are on a lower vibration than they were last week. If I am going to envision what I want, then I want to be able to take my kids to visit some parts of Europe in the next year or so; yet we have no means to do that so it is just a deep longing because the educational value of it for them would be wonderful.

    That’s where I am at right now. As for pansies, they were my favorite flower when I was a kid, primarily because my favorite color was (and still is) purple and pansies can have really beautiful purples.

    Back to the rest of you. :::smiling tiredly:::

  3. In the language of flowers; pansies are thoughts, daisies stand for innocence, and rosemary is for remembrance.

    The sympathy piece for my final in floral design school was named “Orchid Waves”; it contained rosemary for remembrance, beautiful pink cymbidium orchids, and many other meaningful plants.

    We also had to make up a story about the arrangement in relation to the fictional deceased person it was honoring. My fictional person was a gardener from Hawai’i; I loosely based her story on a dear friend’s mother. It was definitely one of the most interesting parts of the coursework. Fun, too, as a couple of my classmates were tellers of tall tales. šŸ™‚

  4. (prrrrrrrrrr….rrrrrrrr)
    I know. depends how you look at it visually…though. the same thingie I was sayin’ about the Mandala….
    …Turtle!!!

  5. The numbers represent degrees; the degree is either occupied or it is not. If the first decanate ends with the 10th degree, then it begins with the 11th, and so on.

    It’s like when 2000 ends, 2001 begins.

  6. mm.
    I see your numbering.
    in one way it looks like then 10.1-10.999 is left out.
    but I get it. you imply by saying 1-10–that ALL of the 10 is included. that it just doesn’t end at 10.0. roll eyes. go ahead.
    Virgo. can be v. irritating. sorry.
    I like and accept your way. it’s better (bow)

    Jere: Solar Arcs, get right to it. translating Esoteric Astrology into Martian. voila!

  8. Amanda, ya got me on the language thingy, I just like to laugh my ass off. Pansy.. pansi.. pansiis…??? Panzee!! šŸ˜‰

  9. Hi all

    Decanate is indeed a third of a sign. The proper term is face.

    We are used to only two of what are called essential dignities — ruler and exaltation.

    There are three others: term, face and triplicity ruler. This chart (below) covers them all. I haven’t used term and face in a while — I will need to ring my astrology teacher and get a fast refresher. However I am sure there are people reading who can describe the difference. The last is triplicity ruler — what planet rules all of a particular element signs by day or night. Jupiter is the ruler of Pisces, for example (that is a sign ruler), and Mars is the triplicity ruler of all the water signs. Note that Jupiter is given to Sagittarius during the day and Pisces at night. In old astrology, whether the chart was cast for day or night made a big difference.

    Term divides a sign into five (uneven divisions); face into three (neat divisions of 10 degrees). Each of those divisions is ruled by a planet. The first face or decanate of Gemini is ruled by Jupiter. Next is Mars, then the Sun. Have a look.

    I don’t use these a lot because I am not doing predictive astrology and I only do a little horary. But it’s good to know these techniques exist — and to know a little about how to use them if you need them.

  10. Definitely a day of Memory. and of the celebration of Life.
    to me.
    although I don’t agree with wars, I DO agree on honoring and acknowledging those who have perished while being of Service. v. important. and personally, it’s amazing how many people don’t or have forgotten what this and Veteran’s Day really is. sadly it’s *just* not another 3-day party weekend…that’s prob. why I’m so adamant about recognizing our servicepeople and also not suppressing casualties and/or injuries, etc. you know, the !cost! of war..

    well, today is also my sister’s birthday, so I have fond memories of also getting to go to a cool birthday party when it was warm outside as opposed to ice storms. outside is SO much better. plus it was almost summer break, lots of potential in the air, lots of excitement, and looking forward to. that’s what I remember. except my sister’s cake preferences were toward the chocolate-y. and mine were the same as today: Angel food with pink frosting! made by Grandma. in the special Angel food cake pan. the best!

    re: the pansies. my Mom and I tended the pansies every year. they came up fr. self-seeding like the mums. but we would both get excited to see what colors they would be and stuff. plus I can hear my Mom’s voice ringing in my ears, because she loved “their little faces”. it’s true. they do have cute little faces. so sweet & cheery! I love them!

    peace Everyone!

  11. as my mom reminded me a couple weeks ago, pansies are for remembrance. she adoers them; her mother was absolutely nuts for them.

    (and yes, plural of pansy is “pansies.”)

  12. Jere,
    Pansy’s go a long way back for me as well. Thank you for awakening a memory on an appropriate day.

  13. Thank you, Fe. Thank you, Stellium. An excellent reminder to be as mindful to the Moon as your feelings – continuously, flowing, present in real time. Well put.

  14. OK! I’ll play!

    30/3
    or
    1st= 0-10
    2nd=10-20
    3rd=20-30

    degrees that is. *and* each decan has it’s own special ruler and flavor, within each sign. pretty cool. pretty CRaZy!!!

    how IS everyone today???? it feels like I’ve been on Vacation!! yeah!! I’m pretty chill. considering some big ass eclipse thingies are supposed to be heading my way…….

    =====Tracy — try:
    1st= 1-10
    2nd=11-20
    3rd=21-30

  15. ..Pansy’s. Viola Wittrockiana, accented by an american flag.. I’ve always loved pansy’s.
