Days of Miracle and Wonder

Ascendant of Boston Marathon massacre. The confirmed time of the first explosion is 2:49:44 based on the start time of the race and the time on the clock at the time of the first explosion. This was calculated by my colleague Larry Ely. I will describe what Orcus is doing in this chart in Friday’s edition.

I’ve spent the evening at my desk, taking apart the chart of the Boston Marathon bombing, preparing for writing Friday’s lead article in the member edition. The chart for the incident is an astonishing chart, in how it describes just what’s happening.

It’s a chart with a prominent, as in very prominent, Neptune (which I describe in detail in the new Planet Waves FM). That’s about looking into a fog, a delusion, a haze of confusion. This has been playing out all week. The situation in the news Wednesday was utter chaos — on the part of journalists and public officials.

The false report by CNN’s John King of the arrest of a suspect causing chaos in the news, an arrest in the ricin incidents, the cancellation of the press briefing in Boston.

The Senate was blocked by a Republican filibuster and did not get to vote on closing the background check loopholes; people will still be able to get around the federally mandated background check just by purchasing at gun shows or on the Internet. Notice the determination of Sandy Hook parents and Bostonians to persist, to persevere. Humans are survivors and we are adaptable. We need to tap into those traits right now.

Meanwhile, the day was capped off by an explosion near Waco, Texas and another in Oklahoma City — close to the anniversaries of the prior famous events in those towns…it’s been a weird and interesting day.

We’re being confronted by so much; so much that’s unpleasant; so much of what humanity and our culture have created for themselves, for us. While planets are busy changing signs from Aries to Taurus (Venus went first, to be followed by the Sun and Mars over the weekend), I think for now the planet to watch is Mercury, as it makes its conjunction to Uranus. This suggests we’re in for some additional surprises. You maybe thinking gee, thanks. I would rather stop the cosmos. However…as your astrologer I’m here to tell you…the wheels are still turning.

Mercury is actually passing through the Uranus-Pluto square — the aspect that is telling the story of the 2012 era. That’s a span of time that, in retrospect, will cover from around 2008 through around 2020, and we’re in the peak of it now — the next of seven exact contacts of Uranus and Pluto is next month. When a personal planet like Mercury comes through, we get an amplification effect and we can see and feel the moment in a tangible way.

For personal astrology, this can be beautifully illuminating. I can envision over the next few days many revelations, self-discoveries and, as Allen Ginsberg said so beautifully, the moment of waking to see the world go wild. Mercury conjunct Uranus, square Pluto, is too vivid and clear and alive to resist. So let’s take the ride and expect the unexpected — and embrace existence with a spirit of discovery that’s one of the most beautiful things about humanity.

I was going over tonight’s astrology with Amanda, and remembered this song that the current moment, and the current astrology, reminds me of — The Boy in the Bubble by Paul Simon.

It’s easy and natural to look out and be mad at the world, to be outraged by the conduct of the Senate and the NRA, to grieve over the loss in Boston — of life and love and the damage to a beautiful tradition. And yet it’s also possible to see the world showing itself for what it is, so that we can open our eyes and look, and do something creative in response.

This is a moment to gaze into the cosmic mirror…and see the way we look to us all.

There was a bright light
A shattering of shop windows
The bomb in the baby carriage
Was wired to the radio
These are the days of miracle and wonder
This is the long distance call
The way the camera follows us in slo-mo
The way we look to us all
The way we look to a distant constellation
That’s dying in a corner of the sky
These are the days of miracle and wonder
And don’t cry baby, don’t cry

  1. About miracle Eric, the Angel asteroid that just to resume its direct phase at 24 ° in the Lion (first passage on October 2, 2012) and will arrive on the tip of the ascendancy of the massacre of boston at the time of the June Summer Solstice. For me I met a spiritual link between the asteroid Angel and Neptune that is found commonly in axis opposition for several months…
Tragic event occurring when a marathon it is unforgivable… Peace has all those souls…

  2. Paul Simon gets my vote too Eric. Neptune on the ascendant (for Boston, MA, USA chart) is also profoundly insightful because of aspects in the (2nd) ingress chart for Neptune into Pisces last year on February 3. In that chart there was a square between the Moon at 24+ Gemini and Venus at 24+ Pisces. The April 10, 2013 New Moon chart has an identical square with Mercury at 24+ Pisces (where Venus was in the ingress chart) and Vesta at 24+ Gemini (where the Moon was in the ingress chart). To my mind that signifies a conflict to be resolved between our values (Venus) and our people (Moon) which is being reinforced now by investment (Vesta) in the People and communicating (Mercury) their value.

In addition, the Neptune ingress chart had Mars (Mars!) at 22 Virgo 20 rx, therefore it completed a T-square in mutable (transition) signs for Neptune’s signature chart. The U.S. Sibly Neptune is also at 22 Virgo 25 and squares the U.S. Mars in Gemini. When Neptune’s ingress chart is set for Washington DC, it has 11+ Pisces on the MC and Borasisi at 12+ Pisces, where transiting Chiron (wounding, healing, teaching, raising consciousness) is right now.

Also, in the Neptune ingress chart located at DC, the ascendant is 2+ Cancer, just 1 degree from the U.S. Sibly Venus at 3+ Cancer. When trans. Jupiter reaches 24+ Gemini, trans. Mercury will be entering Cancer and will be at 2-3 degrees on June 1-2. Uranus and Pluto will still be tightly square (both at 11+ degrees). Trans. Saturn will have just completed a conjunction to the U.S. Sibly north node.

There is a Full Moon in June at 2+ Capricorn opposite 2+ Cancer Sun. All this astrology seems to confirm a lesson in values for the USA and, through the ubiquitous network of communication systems, the hard knocks (Saturn) we endure (thank you Chiron and Vesta) we are finding the path (NN) that leads us to evolving from this level of pain and hate and violence.

Both transiting Mercury and Venus will conjunct Jupiter just before he reaches 24 Gemini at the end of May. The Moon will conjunct Neptune just as Jupiter reaches 24 Gemini.

At the time of the Neptune ingress (Feb 3 ’12) the open leg of the T-square, Sagittarius, had no planets at 22-24 degrees, but Pholus was at 19 degrees. At the time of the April 10 New Moon, Pholus was at 22+ Sagittarius retrograde. It would seem there is something to his symbolism for turning something small into something out of control (Sagittarians are noted for their muscular athletic legs and the bombs targeted the lower extremities. Then there’s the whole “centaur” thing about legs too.). But he didn’t act alone. In the April New Moon chart Pholus was trine Eris and Mars at 22 Aries.

At the time of the April New Moon, trans. Nessus was conjunct the U.S. Sibly Moon (27+ Aquarius) and this centaur also has played a role in making us aware of deeply imbedded malice within the American psyche. He has done his job well. He’s moved on but he will return for one last reminder by the end of the year. Growing pains.

  3. The Texas City, TX fertilizer explosion was April 16, 1947.
I read that there hasn’t been a Sun/Mars conjunction in Aries since 1981?
