Takes me back to September of 1995 , I was returning from Oman where I had been working aboard the University of Washington research ship Thomas Thompson.
On the way home to Seattle I spent 10 days in Greece right near the Acropolis and they were repairing/restoring parts of it so it was sadly closed the day I was there but a nice old man let me in the gate and I had the entire place to myself for the day, I remember the worn footpaths of stone where footprints had been ethched into the ancient stone, I meandered around and arrived at the temple of Athena with the beatiful goddess sculpture figures looking toward the mountains and was taken back in time.
Later in the week I caught a small boat cruise to 3 islands including Delos, I walked to the temple of Apollo..Incredible and oh so familiar the entire trip I felt deeply that Greece was my home. Thanks for taking me down memory lane.
