World Economy Prayer Day

Dear Friend and Reader:

We were remiss here at Planet Waves for neglecting to tell you that inВ yet another indicator ofВ the Apocalypse,В October 29, 2008 was theВ “Day of Prayer for the World’s Economies.”

We give you this opportunity to comment on the image belowВ of one celebration of the event in New York and to enter your prayers retroactively:

Have at it, Planet Wavers.

There’s something about the “End of Days” quality about this shot that slapped me in the face. I couldn’t believe either it when I first saw it. I got it first through a look at a diary on Daily Kos.

  2. We could be finding our Planetwaves grilled curry seitan dinner prizes here tonight, my friends.

Of particular concern to me when I ran into the picture was the utter lack of garlands laid at the feet of the golden calf.

Somehow, I think stone tablets are going to come falling from the 67th floor of the Metropolitan Life Building on Wall Street.

    News at 11.

  3. “We are going to intercede at the site of the statue of the bull on Wall Street to ask God to begin a shift from the bull and bear markets to what we feel will be the ‘Lion’s Market,’ or God’s control over the economic systems,” she said. “While we do not have the full revelation of all this will entail, we do know that without intercession, economies will crumble.”

Well. True to form for ye old BibleThumpers; this is certainly a leap of faith. a) -that our economy is So Damned important that God Himself would interceed and that b) that we don’t have to interceed on our own behalf and – oh, say, Create a Plan of Action.

What’s that joke about the drowning man calling out to God for help, ignoring the man holding the life-preserver then quizzing St. Peter on why he was at the Pearly Gates?

And I wasn’t previously aware of the practice of Laying on of Hands on inanimate objects.

Or is that (a) Golden Bull?

  4. I can’t believe that I’m actually seeing this picture.

You know, I’m not even concerned about Moses, as Gardener suggested, but rather, I’m concerned about the LITERAL-NESS of this photo. I mean, I thought the sword tongued angel of Revelations was a metaphor…now I’m not so sure 😉

  5. “This is so severe in the economic area because we are facing judgment from the actions, not only for our stance towards Israel, but our blatant sin against Him in passing laws such as the one allowing homosexual marriages,” Cindy said.

God’s getting to be sort of a one-note Johnny on this one. I think he needs to get a new campaign manager.
