  1. During the Supreme Court Oral Arguments for McCutcheon, Kai Newkirk, member of 99 Rise, stood up and said, “I rise of behalf of the vast majority of American people who believe money is not speech, corporations are not people and our democracy should not be for sale to the highest bidder. Overturn Citizens United. Keep the cap in McCutcheon. The people demand democracy.”

He was forcibly pulled out of the room but other members recorded his words, which you can be viewed at 99rise.org.

They are planning a mass non-violent civil disobedience movement.

  2. I would but I do not have the recipe! I will tell you this, she was a “cut the sugar in half” baker. She kept it simple, too. I could probably replicate it but I cannot eat wheat so I have would not be able to test it. That would require reformulating it with other ingredients…possible but would be an analog of the original. I don’t believe I have any of Josie’s personal possessions — except for one — an elementary school class photo from about 1912.

  3. Any chance you are willing to share Aunt Josie’s oatmeal (and or peanut butter oatmeal) cookie recipe with me/others? I am such a fan.

    mm.

  4. Just wanted to let you know that a few minutes ago I renewed my membership for another year. Wow, I certainly wouldn’t want to be disconnected from Planet Waves during these changing times.

    Thanks so much,
    Darlene

  5. Thank you, Eric, for another yeoman’s job complete with a deeply insightul, coherent and useful feature article accompanied by the best horoscopes on Earth. Your tribute to you aunt is especially moving, bringing back memories of another Josie in my life years ago.
