Solstice New Moon, in Cancer

The New Moon in Cancer (which was exact Friday at 4:08:28 am EDT) is the one closest to the northern solstice. Earlier today, prepping the 2015 annual, I was looking at the Capricorn New Moon, which happens just under six months from now and on the day of the southern solstice, Dec. 21. The current New Moon happens at 5+ Cancer, in a grouping of planets that includes asteroids Iris and Isis, centaur Thereus and hypotheticals Hades and Kronos. The aspect pattern also includes Uranus in Aries plus Pluto in Capricorn (the Uranus-Pluto square). Mars is making its way through the the second half of Libra at the moment, currently opposite Uranus and about to make a series of conjunctions to Vesta, Ceres and the North Node before moving on to Scorpio on July 25.

The current New Moon and corresponding Capricorn Full Moon in two weeks are the last moments of the cardinal grand cross energy we’ve been living with all year. Between these two events you will get some confirmation of what you’ve learned, whether and how you’ve mastered your lessons and some ideas about where you want to go from here. Mars ingressing Scorpio and Jupiter ingressing Leo will create the sensation of ‘a whole new year’ within the current year. I’ve previewed this in tonight’s subscriber edition of Planet Waves, available with any subscription or membership (including a free trial offer or on the other end of the spectrum, the All-Access Pass). The edition includes the July extended monthly forecast for all signs and rising signs.

The chart below is the New Moon, set for the astrologer’s location in Kingston, New York, USA. This is the chart I’ve used for the July Inner Space Horoscope, and which I’ll be using for the forthcoming Cancer birthday reading, which will be available next week. That reading is still available for the pre-order price of $29.95 — full price will be $49.95 once the reading publishes after the weekend.

  1. I’m looking forward to Mars and Jupiter’s ingress. It seems that time flies by so fast, I need a year inside a year, for breathing and a chance to contemplate what I have absorbed. With Pluto in my 1st house, and all of this Cardinal Cross energy, the rebuilding has been exhausting.

  2. Mars in Scorpio is going to rock! It’s the party you won’t want to miss! Time to make sure all my “homework” is done…

  3. Hades has indeed crept back up to re-conjunct the U.S. Sibly Venus at 3+ Cancer, affecting U.S. decisions regarding service/aid (6th house) and standing in the global community (10th house), areas that Venus reigns over in the Sibly chart. So much of what is happening around the world is bewildering, making it harder and harder to know which side of the conflict to choose to help; which one is right and which one is wrong.

Something I learned post the cardinal grand cross is how much the “gender” of the 4 cardinal signs of the cross (or any square for that matter) influenced the energies they symbolized. Earth and Water signs connote feminine characteristics within the energy they exhibit, just as Air and Fire signs exhibit masculine characteristics. While it was the disruptive effect the cardinal cross participants engendered and caught everyone’s attention, what escaped me at the time was the polarization of the masculine/feminine principal within the conflict. In a very subtle manner, the grand trine in water signs (all feminine) tipped the balance toward support of the “feminine” in many examples, but has been especially notable in Mideast conflicts. It has confounded linear thinking and therein lies the rub.

I suspect that there is universal purpose in the overall plan to move humanity forward by confounding it first. While the U.S. and her allies demonstrate a compassionate form of masculine thinking, they don’t quite grasp the rationale of eastern countries and no amount of talking and giving support in the form of equipment and expertise will change that. I believe that the U.S. Venus in her sign of Cancer might edge the western civilization a little closer to that possibility as these “under-the-radar” conjunctions of Hades (unpleasant to deal with), Kronos (mastery), Thereus (control rebellion), Iris (truth teller, feminine thinking) Isis (reassemble) surround and support her in the coming month.
