The Saudis are upset with the US over their handling of Iraq. When the US pulled out their troops, those they left in charge to govern were initially Sunni Muslims, but the balance of power has since shifted to the Shiite Muslims.

The chemical attack thing is imo 100% pure unadulterated bullshit as an excuse. It may have happened in some form, but it’s not why Obama is trying to go into this mess. There are many other reasons.
