Night Moves: Gemini Moon

We’re in for a fast paced couple of days. Late Tuesday night the Moon ingressed Gemini, which is a sign on the mutable cross. The four signs on that cross are Gemini, Virgo, Sagittarius and Pisces. There happen to be a lot of planets collected on that particular cross — comprising many of the stories you’ve been reading here over the past number of months and even more recently.

Planets, nodes, Moon and Sun currently arranged in a grand cross aspect.

These include the lunar nodes across Gemini and Sagittarius, Mars retrograde in Virgo and the Pallas-Chiron-Neptune grouping that’s in early Pisces. As the Moon moves across Gemini it’s going to make aspects to all of those points within a fairly short period of time. As you can see from the chart, there are lots of planets arranged in what looks like a square (called a grand square or grand cross, indicated in red), and the Moon is on that cross.

At the moment the Moon is coming out of its square with Neptune (still in the very first degree of Pisces and about to square Chiron and Pallas early Wednesday morning). There’s a caution here to pay attention and not take anything, such as your feelings or those of someone else, for granted. It’s a moment to forgive and, if you can, to forget rather than to hold anything against anyone.

If you can, let it go, whatever it is. If you cannot, then find a constructive way to have the conversation. You might want to wait a few days to do that, however: your words will count for more and you may be more sensitive, which will help the situation.

The Moon continues its journey with the first-quarter Moon Wednesday at 8:21 pm EST, which is a natural turning point. After that point, Mars is drawn into the story as the Moon squares retrograde Mars and the Sun begins its opposition to Mars. This in particular is the reason to chill out a bit and avoid conflict for a few days — the Moon and Sun aspecting Mars like that can make anyone prone to anger, especially with the Sun in emotional Pisces and the Moon in Gemini, which is prone to words — and perhaps words spoken too easily.

It would therefore be prudent astrological advice for these coming days to apply the principle of correct speech, wrapped in a coating of good manners, decorated with consideration. While you’re at it, make sure you know how you really feel, but work it out with yourself before you work it out with anyone else; by the time you do that you may have decided whatever might have been irritating you no longer matters enough to say something about it, and you’ll save yourself a lot of trouble.

  1. Hey, a_priori, I miss you too. Just reading this about Mars being opposite the Sun (3/3/12) made me remember that Mars is still in the Mars Max cycle (something Richard Nolle always warns us about on astropro.com) which includes the Mars perigee phase, when he comes closest to earth, thus intensifying the possibility of sharp, cutting words. Then yesterday, Juno at 5 Sagittarius was square Chiron and Pallas-Athene at 5 Pisces so they are probably still pretty tight in that aspect. Anything in Sagittarius is prone to the “open mouth – insert foot” faux pas and since she’s quincunx her hubby Jupiter in Taurus, Juno is quite likely to be irritated. I worry that poor Chiron will bear the brunt of those feelings but perhaps Pallas Athene (daughter of Jupiter), aware of Juno’s sharp tongue, will protect him with her Medusa-faced shield before he takes another wounding blow. You just can’t be too careful with those words that wound. However, if you haven’t already been fired at or shot off a few choice words yourself, you are probably safe for today as I believe the Moon has passed her opposition to testy Juno by now.

Now, that’s something I miss. . the button to push to see where all the planets are at the moment. That was very handy at times. None the less, it’s always a pleasure to visit with fellow PWers no matter where the Moon is!

  2. Thank you Sarah for your insights and Eric for the added reminder of the centaurs’ involvement. I feel I can navigate the terrain ahead with a sense of direction and with my wits about me. Keeping it real and keeping an inner focus.

I also want to applaud the offer to vets of Iraq and Afghanistan for free subscriptions. That is true, much needed support toward healing the wounds of war .

  3. One thing I did not mention for the sake of brevity is that there remains that cluster of centaur planets in Sagittarius — I would say that Sarah’s comment is the one that addresses that the most succinctly. Gemini Moon with that potentially polarized feeling opposing all that centaur stuff could certainly feel like projection made conscious — but the Gemini Moon offers an opportunity to see the relationship inwardly and to workout the dynamics inwardly, which will reduce conflict externally. Approached with less conflict, the conversation that happens will be closer to the real conversation, and who knows it may even BE the real conversation.

  4. “…avoid conflict”. Good advice for this Scorp with natal Mars in Virgo, Mercury in Sagg and North Node in Pisces and the transits of this mutable cross. A watery (Piscean) sniffling, snuffling, sneezing cold has mercifuly provided me with an excuse to avoid contact that could lead to conflict. As aword has noted elsewhere – the grace and blessings of the wisdom at PW is just that – grace and blessings. Thank you.

A late comment to yesterday’s posting and comments: thanks to Rob44 for an incredible assessment of what happens every day in the Daily Astrology.

PS: Love the charts, but miss the gorgeous photos. I’m greedy. May we have both?

  5. How often do we search for somone else’s love and acceptance to fix what is broken in us, and to make us whole? When we do that, we are not only denying ourselves the pain of taking a good look at our lives and our choices; we are also denying the love available to us inside ourselves to make us whole again.

This is what I realised today. I posted it on my facebook wall, and wanted to post it here too. This is the process that the astrology and tarot are helping me with right now.

    Thank you!
