There has been a mix of emotional and psychological churning in the air the past few days. Mercury’s storm phase associated with the retrograde that started Thursday was one of the strangest in recent memory. Everyone I’ve talked to seems to be struggling with something that seems unnecessary.
If you’re looking for individual guidance about Mercury retrograde, I’ve got you covered in last the current readings for the 12 signs and rising signs, which went to our subscribers Friday. [Get access here.]
The confusion should be settling down some now that the storm phase is over, and that you’ve had a few days to get used to the retrograde motion — which can be weird. The Sun is approaching a 90-degree angle (square) top Saturn, which is calling for focus and discipline.
The Moon, now in Cancer, will also help, because it’s a water sign that’s better adapted to Mercury in Pisces. The thing to be aware of is that the Moon makes a conjunction to Jupiter today, which is famous for emotional exaggeration — especially in the sign Cancer. So the wavelength to downplay is the emotive one; tap into the current Sun-Aquarius energy, pause and apply your mind when you feel like you’re getting carried away emotionally.
Mercury retrograding back into Aquarius on Wednesday will help by adding some mental energy where emotions were previously ruling; Mercury will spend the rest of the retrograde in an air sign, which should dry things up considerably.
That said, we are heading into the Full Moon. The Moon is in waxing phase, meaning that it’s building to a Full Moon that takes place Friday, on what humans call Valentine’s Day.
Events of the whole week build toward the Full Moon; every story arc in your life will be guided by this astrology. The lunar cycle has a way of taking the oceans and all critters for a ride, and we’re now on that ride.
While the Full Moon is in Leo, most of the activity is across the sky in Aquarius. The Moon will be opposite not just the Sun but also Mercury and a smaller planet called Nessus. Small, but meaningful — Nessus tell the story of how events go in cycles and that actions get results.
We have all heard of karma. That’s the bit about how every cause has an effect and every effect has a cause. I think of Nessus as the principle of “cause and effect are never separate.” Remember that as you make decisions this week.
I offer afforable astrology products that can help you get through the day and plan your life more effectively. The most exciting are my 2014 readings, called The Mars Effect. Mars will soon be retrograde in Libra and it’s gonna be a trip. Get the guidance you need.
Shelley: no sorrow in this at all 😉 The tents crushed by the snow were already falling apart and my friend gave me another tent to use which isn’t falling apart so it’s all good. I too have been enjoying the snow, practicing more indoors and still walking and biking outdoors. I’ve been pleased that the majority of car folk have given me lots of space to ride with only one fast close pass. The novelty has been fun, but I’m glad it’s melting. Portland just doesn’t have the infrastructure for this kind of thing since it doesn’t happen every year and then only for a week or less when it does.
Thanks Eric, I’ll try to remember this the next few days.
It was on the Leo Full Moon, late afternoon of the 7th and the morning of 8th Feb, 2009, when grass fires on the outskirts of Melbourne amidst a heat wave ravaged homes killing people instantly in their homes, or while fleeing them
As of last Sunday afternoon outskirt grass fires are dangerously in and out of control, with constant vigilant radio warnings. We’re in the midst of a heat wave and sudden wind change means business. Last Sunday we were shown again how quickly the wind can unexpectedly change. This morning the smell of far away fires permeated the air – except they’re not far away.
Leo fixed Fire and Aquarius fixed Air with Mercury Rx.
I hope the Air element will be kind to us
wandering_yeti, truly sorry the snow crushed your tent.
Personally, I’ve been having a wonderful time since the snow began here in Portland. It has felt like a wonderland-outwardly and inwardly. My job has been closed since Thursday and I’ve been alternating my time between catching up on things I’m behind on, writing poetry, cooking, and playing in the snow.
Truly peaceful. I trekked through Laurelhurst Park on Friday and a bunch of kids with their parents were sledding and giggling. If, “Events of the whole week build toward the Full Moon,” it will be stupendous!
The hour when Mercury stationed on Thursday was the beginning of the first real snow we’ve had since 2008 here in the left coast Portland. Talk about messing with transportation: this kind of thing happens so infrequently here we don’t have the infrastructure to deal with it so most of the city shuts down when it happens.
The snow crushed my tent, but I found shelter with friends in the house where I’ve been serving as helper. Coming to light is my old attachment to entitlement, my middle class white guy attitudes, learning to be a better servant in a collective house. Dropping off the money pyramid has been a help in this cause I realized I was such a shitty house mate when I paid rent because I felt entitled to things on account of the money paid. Now I’m so grateful for shelter from the storm I don’t care if I’m cleaning up after other people as long as it serves to keep the house happy for everybody. The house is 108 years old and seems to have intentions all her own. Through the teachings of the woman who has held the house for 13 years I’m learning to serve the house by listening to her. Yes, this old lady tells me what she needs if I just pay attention.
Me too!!
“So the wavelength to downplay is the emotive one; tap into the current Sun-Aquarius energy, pause and apply your mind when you feel like you’re getting carried away emotionally.”
I appreciate this, Eric.
