Faith is a cat

William Lilly.
William Lilly.

My own cosmic thoughts today are focused on the Sun in the last degree of Leo, about to change signs to Virgo. This is sometimes (though rarely) referred to as the Sun being void-of-course; sometimes it’s called anaretic, which means in the last degree (or two, depending on whose concept you use). The rules for void-of-course evolve. From what I understand, the modern adaptation is a bit different than the Elizabethan one (modern astrology, as we practice it today, has deep roots in the mid-1600s, particularly through an astrologer named William Lilly). To me it means that the Sun makes no new aspects to major planets or points before ingressing Virgo tonight. Though despite being in Leo, it is rather trine to Pluto in the first degree of Capricorn, which aspect will perfect, earth-to-earth, over the next 24 hours or so. I have grown to love the feeling of the void-of-course or anaretic Sun. I notice unusual developments, have unexpectedly authentic conversations, and there is a sense of relief that the expressive/ego consciousness of the Sun is muted. The ego is generally rooted in the past; the anaretic quality is about the need to embrace change. I also think of the Leo to Virgo area as the sphinx point, where we combine the energy of a woman with the energy of a cat. Or maybe just notice…

  1. paletiger & all interested in Lockerbie bomber subject:

If you haven’t already read it, an article by John Pilger earlier this month titled “Lockerbie: Megrahi was framed” (and therefore was innocent) has some extraordinary evidence regarding suppressed information that would have proved he had nothing to do with the bombing of Pan Am Flight 103 on Dec 21, 1988, which killed 270 people.

From his story, “. . .but had Megrahi proceeded with his appeal, some 600 pages of new and deliberately suppressed evidence would have set the seal on his innocence and given us more than a glimpse of how and why he was stitched up for the benefit of ‘strategic interests’.”

And this: “New witnesses would show that it was impossible for Megrahi to have bought clothes that were found in the wreckage of the Pan Am aircraft – he was convicted on the word of a Maltese shopowner who claimed to have sold him the clothes, then gave a false description of him in 19 separate statements and even failed to recognise him in the courtroom.”

Sorry this is “late” news, but I just stumbled across it today.

  2. One other note about yods, Patty; they can be partially transiting and partially specific chart. Or they can include planets (this is my opinion anyway) that are new to astrologers yet have some people through whom they can operate quite amazingly. Each of the players in this MJ drama could have a yod representing their behavior, feelings or thoughts, that isn’t operating consciously in the others.

For example, a yod exists now that might not mean anything to you or me, but maybe a neighbor or friend might be quite under its influence. It would be the sextile between Chiron (and his traveling pals) and Eris who are pointing their potent combined energy toward Saturn, he whose recent meeting with Mercury would provide a way to release that whallop of power, just as the Sun will soon and the Moon does every month. I believe Eric has Eris on his Jupiter right now. Let’s ask him.

  3. Patty, there could be an acceptable yod aspect. If the official announcement (I gather so far it is only leaked info) comes out today or even tomorrow, if it hasn’t already, the focal point would be Neptune. There’s also another yod with Uranus as focal point, but it includes the Moon, which will move out of range soon.

I think the official time of announcement would be wiser, but for now, I estimate the news leaked around 2 or 2:30 PM in LA. If so, that would put Neptune in the 3rd house. He is quincunxed by Saturn on one side (Virgo on the midheaven) and Venus in Cancer in the 8th house.

Think about all those words we associate Neptune with such as, compassion, deception, illusion, confusion, creativity. . . that would be the focal point.

Then the sextile between Venus in Cancer (love, comfort, beauty, wealth & family, feeling, protection) and Saturn in Virgo (stature, respectibility, structure, restriction & health, work, service) you start to get a picture. If the 8th house and the MH (10th house) are involved, even more so. This would be the energy pushing into the focal Neptune. wow.

    Let’s wait and see.

  4. Patty, I’ve not been following this story; was this a recent (today?) decision? If a date/time/place for it is available then a chart could be calculated. Yods do seem to be showing up in a lot of charts being brought to the public’s attention lately. That in itself could be meaningful. From what I’ve been able to learn, it (the yod configuration) has an irritating and/or forced quality about it, much like the way an oyster feels with that grain of sand before it becomes a pearl. In other words, it doesn’t just manifest on it’s own. Also, it has a “destined to become” mystique; fated if you will. Guess that’s why they fascinate me. I’ll check it out on Huffington Post and/or Google it if you like.

  5. Be – I’m not a big Michael Jackson follower, but is there a significant yod aspect for this homicide ruling?

  6. Even though this Leo-Virgo shift is my nadir time of the year, (my sun in Aquarius and Ascendant in Pisces) the period around the end of August beginning of September always brings my energy up. There are a slew of pies I make around this time of year that go into the freezer and wait for a good moment to pop in the oven.

Today I have some golden delicious apples, peeled and sliced, sitting in a bowl with lemon, freshly grated nutmeg and cinnamon. The crust is waiting to let glutens rest in the chiller, and I am sitting back with a cup of green tea.

This is a bittersweet time, this transition time. Alternately feeling physical strength and agility returning after nursing back my adrenals this summer, AND death anxiety. Saturn in the last remnants in Virgo kicking my astral butt.

Ten minute chill time up. Back to the rolling pin and the pies.

  7. BK, Thank you so much for that lesson about the YOD! I have to look someone up who gave me fits in 1988 – a very bad work situation – and see what she is doing now. But then maybe not – won’t help me any if I get mad if she’s now a CEO or something, and it won’t help to gloat if she’s lost everything. Ah karma – what a trickster.

And then that which is not reported: last year at this time, my son finally took into his own hands what the LA court system would not — that is, find a way to remove himself permanently from his father’s homeless, lying, prescription drug infested world)…….and since then he’s been with mom full time and a straight A honors student although it is cetainly the Magic Cat’s influence…..
    xoxoxoxo

I find this time o year to be FASCINATING…………..

  9. Well Miss Patty, you are so right. Neptune can be a multitude of things (but not clear and precise) however, paletiger didn’t know what to make of the release on “compassionate grounds” so I was looking for that kind of signature. Neptune can and often does have something to do with drugs, which it rules. It’s a mind-boggling combination of planets (in the ’88 chart) all conjoined that would take a while to study the various combinations of meanings they each have. Without a doubt astrologers really did that at the time. I’m sure all those people who lost their lives, and the families they left behind had different experiences yet they were all symbolized by the same conjunction.

I admire your attitude toward Saturn and Pluto; rewarded if good, punished if bad. It helps to be conscious of what they are there for and to work with them, but can’t say the experience(s) are pleasant. True, reward does come later, but at the time they are digging in to your life it smarts! That’s been my experience anyway.

  10. A good bit of conversation this is. Thx.

On the innocent/guilty freedom point — here in LA we have in the news family/friends trying to have their sister/daughter/girlfriend freed after twenty something years for mudering her abusive boyfriend (media states the one witness was known lier). She too is terminally ill.

(As is the Manson figure also up to be freed so she can die.)

And on the cat? Oh yes, my next kitten will be named ‘Faith’, for sure. GREAT story Klara, thanks for sharing!

My very scorpio teenage son is angst-ing deeply at this time (ten year anniversary of the summer camp shooting and two year anniversary of his dad murdering his dog.)

Our kat “Magic” or better known in the family as “kitten” is his stabilizer. (She “magic-s” in and out of his room as needed, door or no.) He’s finding his Faith as we speak. (not the kitten!)

    Thanks all.

  11. Neptune is a little cloudy don’t you think? Could be compassion, but also could be a useful way to find someone else – letting someone out of prison when he is not exactly on his deathbed. My neighbor got out of prison and then did a major drug smuggling job, then went back to prison for a short time – and then he was out. This happened over 25 years ago so am assuming all the other bad guys are now out of the picture, but we always suspected that he was out because of a deal made in prison. The capricorn pluto conjunct the 88 chart to me speaks of justice, not compassion. Justice, with a saturn health problem lending a helping hand. I’m not an astrologer, but that is how I have always experienced pluto and saturn – as benificents if I deserved it, and punishers if I didn’t.

  12. paletiger . . it was a little (a lot actually)breathtaking for me too. Thanks for the fun of the discovery.

BTW, as for Americans and their killer instinct, Ray Merriman describes (as I said in a comment not so long ago) the U.S. chart’s Venus at 4 degrees Cancer as “the loved ones”. If we have transiting Chiron at the time of the crash at 4 degrees Cancer, then it would be the wounding of the loved ones I would suppose. This in opposition to all that Capricorn business. And now, under the influence of the solstice chart, (and new moon 7/21) Vesta and the Sun activate that sore spot. Being so close to Aries Point at Cancer 0 degrees, it is exposed for all the world to see. And there is much more.

Like the Mars at MH squares Mercury, the last Capricorn planet in the conjunction, and Jupiter is rx, but less than 3 degrees from 0 Gemini, therefore quincunx the Sun, Uranus, Saturn, Neptune and Mercury.

Unbelievable. And Alex is a Capricorn. Love to see HIS chart!

  13. Be – That’s amazing. I could not stop reading – gobbled it all up and I am now tingling all down my back. Sheesh – if I was a cat (which I might be with so much Leo) my fur would be standing on end.

When I read Alex Salmond’s comments (our first Minister in Scotland = to head of the land) he is adamant, solid and not budging on his view on the ‘compassionate’ aspect in this decision. Of course, that may be true and (or) there may be other reasons lurking…Pluto…

I’m going to digest and come back, thank you so much – good work!!, love H.

  14. paletiger,

Your comments re: the Lockerbie bomber’s release for reasons of compassion and its emotional effect on the community (and here in U.S. too, at least with family members of those who perished in the crash) sent me out to do a little investigating. I did a chart for the takeoff of the Pan Am Flight 103, which was 12/21/88 at 18:56 GMT from London.

With rudimentory knowledge of the process and only basic tools to work with, I got an extraordinary chart. Hoping that GMT is about the same as London time, this chart has Mars on the midheaven at 15+ Aries. However, that date and time anywhere on the planet has The Sun at 0 Capricorn 8 minutes, Uranus at 1 Capricorn 8 minutes, Saturn at 4 Capricorn 23 min, Neptune at 9 Capricorn 32 min and last but not least, Mercury at 11 Capricorn and 31 min. Haven’t yet checked on asteroids, etc. but do know that Chiron was at 4 Cancer retrograde.

Without any attempt to interpret, that’s pretty intense . . .5 classic planets in one sign and conjunct and in earth is something people will notice, not to mention the activated Aries point (at 0 Cap). In my not-for-sure-exact chart it spans the 5th and 6th houses.

I was not into the event when it happened, having lost my job with a company I’d been with for 15 years only a month earlier, nor have I taken an interest in it since then, so don’t know what things were discovered because of the crash. As to the emotional reaction over his release, the fact that Pluto is now in the degree of the Sun at the time of the crash, attests to the depth of the effect and the intensity, and the fact that it has been hidden. Also, if this chart is correct, the Sun would be the ruler, with Leo rising.

It was only a few months ago that we were all talking about the remarkable conjunction in Aquarius, not just Neptune, Jupiter and Chiron, but 6 months ago, in mid February, the Sun, Mercury, Mars and north node were there too. Do you remember how intense that energy was? Neptune, of compassion fame, was a key player in ’88, and mid February as it is right now.

On another note, I will want to explore a configuration in the ’88 chart; one that fascinates me to no end. It includes the aforementioned midheaven Mars in Aries, the Moon at 12+ Gemini and the Pluto at 14+ Scorpio. It is called a yod, or Finger of God, and the focal point of it is Pluto. Pluto is making a semisquare to the Sun (chart ruler) and it only takes a little aspect like this to activate Pluto.

So I do hope that others will follow up with their observations on this phenomonon, but the present Pluto conjunct the 88 chart Sun et al, the role of Neptune, then and now, the semisquare of the 88 Pluto to the 88 Sun and present Pluto, and the fact that the present Neptune (compassion), Chiron (healing) and Jupiter (understanding) in Aquarius (family of man) in the last few moments of north node in Aquarius will give you some insight as to why the “strong and mixed feelings” . And yes, to health and justice AND something darker!

  15. Hmmm….just a few, perhaps random, thoughts:

Megrahi: I haven’t thought about it in astrological terms but there is such a need for the development of compassion here in the UK; maybe this is true everywhere. I sicken of hearing racist or anti-poor comments, or ones about those claiming sickness benefits. How did we get to a place of assuming people guilty before being tried?

I’d like to echo Brian’s comments. I love every change of season but this one reigns supreme. Maybe it’s because the majority of my planets are in Leo and Virgo. The colours, the light, that turning inward and becoming contemplative in a different way; the looking forward to nights by the fire, snuggled up with a book, food in the cupboard and a pile of wood and being prepared for the travails of winter. (Unfortunately it’s gas rather than wood at the moment, but the feeling’s still there.)

Klara, I loved the story of the cat in the pocket 🙂

  16. There’s a storm in the UK these last couple of days re early release of Megrahi, ‘The Lockerbie Bomber’, on so-called compassionate grounds. I am not sure what to make of it and it seems to have, quite understandably, caused very strong and mixed feelings. The BBC Have Your Say page is very busy. However I wondered, given the placement of the planets right now, if anyone had ideas on this from an astrological point of view? Health and Justice again with a twist…? And/Or something darker?

  17. Eric,

my husband and I have been arguingВ latelyВ (or you can say having heated conversations) about faith. he claims to be agnostic, atheist, science-and-rational-mind-only kind of guy. yesterday, he found a little plastic cat in his pocket. it seemed mysterious since none of us have seen it before nor knew where it came from. reading the title of your entry Faith is a cat stopped me in my tracks – now I wonder: В how longs has he been carrying faith in his pocket ?

    klara

  18. I find this transition to be one of the most prounounced of the whole year. Perhaps it’s living in a cooler part of the country, but toward the end of August there’s a marked change to the light and energy as the Autumn begins to make itself felt. Moving from Leo to Virgo always accentuates this for me, there’s a ‘turning inward’ that happens in the sky just as the cooler weather makes me want to close the doors and windows.

  19. Charming.
My daughter visited the Humane Society this morning and submitted her application to adopt a pet –a kitten. Yes, today faith is a cat.

  20. quick note
Today happens to be my daughter’s 15th birthday
She was born at 9:04 pm on NYC, which is arguably as anaetic a degree of leo as it gets.
    That sphinx like quality?
    Absolutely true.
But I have another observation. In a word
Poise. You could get all descriptive with all kinds of adjectives I guess, but
Really. Just natural poise. A sense of personal Presence.
The kind that comes with feeling oneself utterly at home in the world ( adolescent angst notwithstanding)
    and heaven, too I guess.
    She’s always had it
and I suspect will never lose it.
    Admirable thing, that.

Me? I got 18 kids coming for a party…got to GO!
