Making Common Cause

By Judith Gayle | Political Waves (the Planet Waves politics blog)

Please allow me a moment for a tizzy fit and to point you in the direction of this generations great challenge to American liberty.

Liberal agenda, liberal agenda — jeez, I’m tired of hearing that screamed from the rooftops like the echoes of aluminum-foil hat paranoids babbling away at the television.

We’re so far to the right side of the political spectrum in this nation that handing out bottles of water to suffering Haitians is considered a “liberal” indulgence that “plays right into Obama’s hands,” if you listen to Rush Limbaugh, which you probably do not. Like good compliant serfs, the folks lost in their list of grievances and easily led by hucksters are working tirelessly to keep their free market feudalism and get us back in the herd.

Let’s get this straight. Ted Kennedy, liberal lion of Congress and champion of the little guy for almost forty years, may lose his Massachusetts senate seat to a Tea Bagger that thinks Obama may be illegitimate and agrees that Martha Coakley deserves a curling iron up her bum.

It isn’t ideology that separates the men from the boys, here. It’s uninformed tantrum. What kind of political savvy and life script is this:

“I’m really furious that Obama’s emergency spending didn’t make its way into my pocket so I’m going to vote for the guy who doesn’t think government should do diddly for me and wouldn’t piss on me if I was on fire. Yeah, that’ll show ’em.”

Methinks the Universe is trying to get the progressives up off their complacent ass and mobilized for the change they want. The only way to impact the situation on the ground is to project a BETTER idea over the outmoded one and allow its success to shift the zeitgeist. If we aren’t doing our part to get that new piece in place … we’re doing theirs. They’ll win by default.

If we’re still invested in Martin’s dream, we’d better get busy.

  1. Digging you back, Jere.

I keep ventilated by releasing hot spots from time to time, especially when I see so little thought to consequence and my brothers/sisters so confused about what will serve to lift them. If we want to go back to the Bush agenda, the collective unwilling to give up their pipedream until it’s yanked away from them … yadda etc ad infinitum … then I’m ok with that because the Universe is always shifting, attempting balance. We can’t not get where we’re going. For my own little self, today I was a hint of the fireworks so tomorrow I won’t have to be.

Peace on the dream [and pets for the cats]

  2. The bread is in the oven, and the timepiece is being watched.

Above stress, and into the patience of creation. When I eventually realize that all the cats around me actually want to put this shit back together, a fine day!

‘Til then, I work in the lamplight,.. shadow and darkness are undaunting,.. comforting even, in their cradle of catastrophe, like cats wanting pets!

    I pet, and hold on.

I pet, and work my ass into the position of embettering this joint! All the way around.

(Except when I’m being a stupid-ass to my body, and abusin’ the friend..) But that shit doesn’t matter! NOW is a funky prism!

Jude, you’ve hella fire, eh?! Or is it the Earth getting scorched?

    ..dug your shit lately!
