Live and Let Live — Mars Enters Leo

After Mars enters Leo tonight at 10:05 PM EDT, it will be helpful if you can remember to live and let live. Mars shows up in your life as energy. While wearing the sunny regalia of Leo, the energy of Mars is likely to express in a more extroverted manner than usual. If you can manage to just let that be alright, for you and others, it will go a long way towards affirming life all around.

Astrology by Len Wallick

After all, Mars spends scarcely two months in direct motion through Leo every two years. Most people can budget time to live and let live at least that often.

There are a lot of ways to express your energetic self at this perhaps most favorable time. Doing it physically is probably best because your body is unique to you.

You might pause to dance a few beats, or sing a few notes, or skip a few steps on your way through the days to come, reminding yourself and showing others a bit of what you are. You may even help others remember what they are, and get them to join in.

This year’s Martian ingress to Leo is a better time for joyous physical expression than most. That’s because of other, concurrent things that will be going on with the astrology. The main thing to keep in mind is that others will need room to do the same.

A newly Gemini Moon will be among the other things going on with the astrology when Mars enters Leo. That’s favorable because of how the mutable air sign encourages expression. For most of us, the emotions that are an integral part of lunar consciousness do not get expressed often enough, but with the support of Mars just two signs away you could find your voice, your feet and maybe something long lost. Even better, you could be the Gemini Moon’s proxy encouraging others to make the same discovery, and even open a rare interpersonal connection in the process, which would be helpful.

It would be helpful because of the cardinal square from a recently Libra-ated Venus to Jupiter’s Cancer exaltation that will still be functional to the degree when Mars enters Leo.

If any square aspect represents the consensual acquiescence to tense inhibitions that keeps you and everybody else from living, and allowing others room to live to the fullest, cardinal Venus square cardinal Jupiter would be the one. Thanks to the timing of Mars and the Moon, however, there will a chance to take action and turn that around so influentially as to start a whole new trend.

Action, of course, is how tense squares are resolved. The energy of Mars empowers and emboldens action, and bold you should be, provided you make it about more than you. Bold you should be, making it safe for others to live in vivid joy. Bold you should be challenging the thoughtless, unspoken, unwritten rules we have all been under duress to accept and enforce for so long. Bold you should be to fill the heartless space between us with heartfelt encouragement to simply live, and live simply, and keep right on doing so long after Mars has moved on.

It’s not much to do. It’s not much more than many children do most of the time. Perhaps the time is right to take them as our teachers. Perhaps the time is right to combine the teachings of children with the powers of action conferred upon adults to live and let live, finally and forever. Isn’t that how we should evolve from this moment forward? Isn’t that a revolution you could easily support? Please think about it. We are that close to making it real.

  1. Thanks Len your completed article of light seen shine on Mars. It seems that the planet Mars would have been inhabited by a civilization more evolved human… I can’t see myself living on the planet Mars
    Good Weekend to all

  2. Amanda: Yes, today was for me very much as you described for yourself. Not a bad thing at all. Once Mars settles into Leo, it will be easier to integrate.

  3. anyone else getting absolutely *squirrelly* with having to sit still today at a computer?!?

    my body wants to MOOOOOOOOOVE.
    (hi, mars!)

  4. be: It is for me to thank you for picking up on the serendipitous positioning of asteroid 4580 Child, as well as the expiring Leo tenures of Ceres (entering Virgo Wednesday, August 28, on the 50th anniversary of the greatest speech of the 20th Century), and Vesta (which will enter Virgo on Tuesday, September 10). Also, thank you for being such an inspirational master of the Sibly chart. Finally, thank you for the profound depth of your understanding.

nilou: Perfect (on both counts). And much appreciated.

Bette Loreen: It gives me joy to know that my service has been useful, but you should also give yourself credit for being more self-aware and humble than many who burden themselves more than necessary.

    Lizzy: You are very welcome.

aword: No apology needed. In fact, we can never thank you enough. This experience you just had probably reveals more about your proficiencies than deficiencies.

bodymindalchemy: Thank you for your insightful perspectives on both Uranian astrology and current events. Your citation from Michel Collon should be clipped and posted on every refrigerator in the US – it’s so concise, yet so complete. The tragedy of Syria reminds me of the tragedy of the Spanish Civil War, only worse in nearly every way.

  5. An explanation of the glyph for the Uranian point HADES:

Here, the crescent is interlaced with the cross of matter. The underlying principle seems to be that of searching for the inner or underlying essence of material realities. With Hades, we begin to deal with the fact of the impermanence of the material, and the reality that we must actively maintain it or experience its demise into a non-physical state. Thus Hades often relates to medicine, remedial procedures, and unpleasant maintenance details that we may mistakenly overlook or leave to someone else. This implies an understanding of the chemistry of matter; and in a personal and social sense the ability or inability to empathize with others despite material differences. It points to the metaphysical realities that underlie physical existence and refers to the subtle materia that we understand through investigating quantum physics. Hades seems to relate to the practical issues of putting spiritual concepts into practice in daily life, and I sometimes refer to it as the planet of “applied metaphysics”. Noting that the crescent is nearly closed into a full circle, and that the cross is based in the collective subconscious, Hades seeks to define experiences through conscious perceptions where matter is interlaced with spirit, and based in the history of the collective. If we have not learned its lessons, which are frequently alien to our more materialistic cultural paradigms and beliefs, Hades may teach us the hard way.

  6. May we develop the personal and political maturity (Child) to see the underlying reality (Hades) of this conflict, refuse to allow our compassionate (Cancer) natures to be manipulated by propaganda, reject the big lie that “war is peace,” and seek higher solutions (Neptune in Pisces) that are both creative and constructive.

  7. Kathy Brown: Don’t Give Up

    Where is
    Where is the compassion?
    I’m trying to understand
    Where is the compassion?
    Don’t give up
    You’ve got to be strong
    We’ve got to be strong
    Don’t give up
    Don’t give up
    Don’t give in

See the world in a grain of sand
And a heaven in a wild flower
Hold infinity in the palm of your hand
    And eternity in an hour
    There will be pain
But still we’ll rise and shine

Don’t let anything hold yo back
    You’ve got to be strong
    You’ve got to hold on
And never give in ’til you find your heaven
    Don’t give up
Never give in ’til you find your heaven
    Hold on and be strong
Never give in ’til you find your heaven

  8. LIVE AND LET DIE?

    26 August 2013 05:30:00 UT
    Hades (3 cn 21’23”) sextile Sun (3 vi 9′ 8″)
Hades (3 cn 21’23”) trine Neptune (3 pi 59’17” Rx)
    Hades (3 cn 21’23”) conjunct Child (3 cn 21’35”)

Michel Collon, a Belgian journalist and author, has outlined how mass media and governments apply the “Five Principles of War Propaganda”:
    1. Obscure economic interests.
    2. Invert the victim and the aggressor.
    3. Hide history.
    4. Demonize.
    5. Monopolize the news.

Today in Syria, as it was in Iraq (2003) and Libya (2011), naked aggression is being marketed as “humanitarian intervention.”

The only thing that can stop this process is public pressure, using the Internet or any other media outlet to publish real news.

But that probably won’t happen, because children (Child) who are enjoying their homes (Cancer) in hell (Hades) don’t want to awakened from their dreams (Neptune in Pisces).

    According to DEBKAfile :

Monday night, Aug. 25, saw one Middle East country after another, including Israel, going on high military alert after they learned that US President Barack Obama had failed to come to an understanding with Tehran on Syria and so avert a US-led operation against Syria over its chemical attacks.

Obama had hoped this understanding would also pave the way to direct dialogue on the nuclear issue with the new Iranian president Hasan Rouhani.
debkafile’s intelligence sources report that the US president delegated two emissaries for two separate tracks.

He found cause for optimism in Tehran’s consent to receive Jeffrey Feltman, UN Deputy Secretary, Monday, Aug. 25, although in his former capacity as US Undersecretary of State and US ambassador to Damascus, Feltman was viewed as an adversary of Iran, Syria and Hizballah.

Feltman arrived suddenly in Tehran Monday and was received by Foreign Minister Javad Zarif without delay. The other intermediary was Sultan Qaboos of Oman, who arrived in Tehran Monday for a visit with Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.

He too made no headway in his attempt to persuade his host that the US was amenable to a last-minute understanding on Syria for holding back an attack.

Khamenei responded with a cold threat: If the Americans attack Syria, “the entire Middle East will suffer from burns,” he said.

This response was the signal for orders to American military assets in the Mediterranean and Persian Gulf to go on a state of high preparedness Monday night, debkafile’s military sources report. Iran, Russia and Syria deployed their forces in readiness for a US-led attack on Syria. Syrian units were ordered to leave their bases and spread out across the country’s broad open areas.

The ten military chiefs meeting in Amman focused on coordination of the joint operation against Syria which is expected to begin very shortly.

Participating in the meeting chaired by US chief of staff Gen. Martin Dempsey were the top commanders of Jordan, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Turkey, Britain, France, Germany, Italy and Canada.

The powerful message coming from US Secretary of State John Kerry and the White House spokesman Jay Carney Monday night indicated that the Obama administration was not about to back off its promise of consequences for those responsible for using chemical weapons against civilians and “shocking the world’s conscience.”

Both bluntly accused the Assad regime of the heinous crime of chemical warfare on civilians. “Our understanding is grounded in facts and common sense,” Kerry said: This regime held custody of those weapon stockpiles, had the rockets to use them and was capable of doing so. “Basic humanity is offended by this crime and even more by the attempts to cover it up.

Kerry added: “We have additional information about these attacks. It is being reviewed with our partners and will be released in the coming days.”

  9. Asking forgiveness from all – time warp really hit me! No explanation, just um, wow! and apologies. Neil Armstrong passed last year.

  10. How did Neil Armstrong’s death go by without note? (I wondered, just noticing today).

At the time of Moon touch-down, our voice was one, our feet firmly planted and while it was not a Geminii moon, it was one of air. No doubt the child in us all is still intrigued by what we can do if we dance a few beats, skip a few steps, and take action that units us all while we live and let.

    Thanks, Len. As always.

  11. Thank-you, Len, for this timely reminder to perhaps lighten up just a bit. To explain: Mars is in Leo in my natal chart, 2nd house, but is stationary retrograde, square my 5th house Scorpio moon. A Mars return transit seems to help get that energy moving, so its current visit is welcome.

I’m not by any stretch a dour person, but with that Mars, & Saturn rising (retro) in Cancer, boy, do I ever notice the empty part of any glass!
Example: Sitting in my back yard this morning with my coffee, leaves rustling, breeze refreshing despite a heatwave – I found myself counting the spots of peeling paint on my house & fussing that another summer’s passing & I wasn’t able to paint it yet – & that tall grass needs cutting – etc. The list could go on & on.

Yes, I need to “pause to dance a few beats, or sing a few notes, or skip a few steps…” In a comment the other day on the Virgo-Libra transits, I said I needed to work on “home” (Virgo on IC). But I needn’t be grim about it, right? For me “let live” as applied to others has never been a problem; however “live” as in lightening up on my demands on myself, well, yes, I needed your reminder today.

  12. You know Len, transiting Child (the asteroid) is conjunct transiting Hades (the Uranian Point) who is conjunct the U.S. Sibly natal Venus at 3+ Cancer right now. Children have been the theme of many of the stories we have heard about for several years now and it seems so right that transiting Mars would arrive in the sign that loves children and the creativity they display and inspire us with. Children haven’t fared so well in much of the news we hear and see, but perhaps Mars in Leo could change that for the better. He will square transiting Saturn and the north node in a couple of weeks, and I like to think that many of us will be emboldened to examine the options (or lack of) for our children to express themselves in a creative way without harming others in the process.

Transiting Mars will also trine transiting Uranus in Aries in a few weeks and with encouragement, children young and old could explore and innovate through play and other creative environments (such as writing) and provide solutions to problems that seemed impossible to solve. Here in the U.S. we now have the opportunity to examine our values (Venus) and address the neglect (Hades) found in schools and other structured services (U.S. Venus rules U.S. 6th house of service) that are meant to foster growth for our kids.

Right now transiting Vesta and Ceres are also in late Leo making contact to the Galactic Center in Sagittarius as well as the U.S. Sibly natal Moon in Aquarius and Pluto in Capricorn. The focusing ability of Vesta and the nurturing force that Ceres symbolizes have been setting the Leo stage for just such action that only Mars could accomplish. With these new cycles of U.S. Venus and trans. Child and U.S. Venus and trans. Hades just beginning, Mars’ timing is perfect. Why not learn from our children? Thank you for once again providing us with your sensitive and wise direction on how to utilize the energies supplied by the universe.
