Conscious of Your Feelings — Sun Trine Saturn and Chiron

The Sun is now in the midst of its annual tour through tropical Cancer, a good time to be conscious of your feelings. As the Sun moves through water trine aspects to Saturn in Scorpio and Chiron in Pisces later today and tomorrow, being aware of your feelings will not only prove practical, it will yield information about where you are in the terrestrial tour that is your life.

Astrology by Len Wallick

Cancer, Scorpio and Pisces have emblematic water in common as one part of their respective and distinguishing characteristics. Among its many manifestations, symbolic water corresponds to feelings — your feelings.

Your feelings are not often logical nor necessarily rational, but they are always valid. Feelings are related to, but not the same as, emotions. It’s possible to be very unemotional and still have strong feelings about any given subject or situation.

Just as representative water serves in part to identify Cancer, Scorpio and Pisces, what you feel about anybody or anything is an important factor in what sets you apart as unique and valid among other beings.

When planets move through water signs, earthly manifestations of those objects are typically felt rather than apprehended in other ways. That’s how the Sun (which, among other things, corresponds to the illumination consciousness affords) in its current position on the zodiac can be said to favor being fully awake to, and in touch with, your feelings.

In addition, the Cancer Sun is now implicitly positioned to reveal how your feelings have shaped and are integrated into your life at this time. That’s because of how the three water signs and their respective planetary constituencies are interpreted as relating to each other.

Any three signs that share a common element (fire, earth, air or water) as part of their identity are distributed on the zodiac so as to resemble the three angles of an equilateral triangle. Hence the word trine to express the angular relationship, or aspect.

That’s a relatively wide separation, basically 120 degrees apart, as far apart as any three points can get from each other on a circle.

Nevertheless, wide separation on the zodiac circle is mitigated by an element in common, which serves to conduct information in much the same way conducting cables facilitate the flow of electricity over long distances to your home.

The more precise the trine aspect, the better the flow of information being conducted. For the rest of today and through most of tomorrow the Sun, Saturn and Chiron will be within a degree of the same spot in their respective signs — that’s precision. What’s more, you know from experience how nothing flows quite like water.

Saturn usually manifests as form, order and/or shape. The Cancer Sun’s precise trine to Saturn’s Scorpio retrograde at 8:28 pm EDT this evening should therefore serve to facilitate a review of how your life has shaped your feelings and your feelings have shaped your life since Saturn last occupied the same degree of Scorpio during the last week of November 2013.

Moreover, Saturn will be nearly stationary over the next four weeks as it approaches and resumes direct apparent motion on July 20. That means you will have time to integrate whatever information comes to your attention today and tomorrow. Conveniently, that’s where the Sun’s subsequent trine to Chiron comes in.

The Cancer Sun moves on to a precise trine with retrograde Chiron in Pisces at 5:26 pm EDT tomorrow. For all intents and purposes, however, it’s happening now, concurrent with the Sun trine Saturn. That makes for a grand trine and the feeling of a continuous unimpeded flow between all three objects until the comparatively swift Sun moves out of aspect with the other two later this week.

By way of interpreting Chiron’s part of the flow, it will be essential to remember that it is not as amenable to a succinct synopsis as compared to the relatively straightforward Sun and Saturn. The late, great astrologer Al Morrison came as close as anybody to capturing the subtle and nuanced manifestations of Chiron in a phrase when (with tongue in cheek) he called it “the inconvenient benefic.”

That’s good news because any disquiet you may feel over the next day or so will probably be revealed as a blessing in disguise. Nonetheless, there are a few more things about Chiron’s nature you will want to be conscious of.

Chiron’s highly elliptical and eccentric orbit crosses the more regular paths traced by Saturn and Uranus. Hence, another way Chiron manifests is to integrate parts into a greater whole.

That’s another piece of good news when you consider how the Sun is also in a tense cardinal square aspect with Uranus today, but separating from the tension as it flows into the grand water trine with Saturn and Chiron. It’s an indication that you should likewise separate from whatever may have gotten your day off to a shaky start so that you can connect with a better flow before you sleep tonight.

Beyond supporting the relief of tension, Chiron’s integrative tendencies are functioning to enhance the substantial conductivity of the grand water trine it is now part of.

Finally, Chiron often correlates with what gets your attention in no uncertain way. Which is how you should have no trouble paying attention to what you feel and what your feelings inform you of through your bedtime tomorrow.

So, if you didn’t know it already, you are in for an eventful period over the next few days. Thanks to astrology, you now have the key for getting through it all.

First, be conscious of what you feel. Next, respect your feelings as valid, as you would want to be respected yourself. Last, but not least, heed what information your feelings convey, and take what opportunity the sky affords to integrate and apply what you feel to shape what you would like to become.

  1. Len, the rainforest left me a little soggy and I wanted to clarify! I am in my FIRST RETURN but the 2nd of 5 passes. 🙂
It would, indeed, be something to live long enough to have a second return. 🙂
This first one is during such a fascinating time that I am quite grateful for the support. Thank you for your words! 🙂

  2. Maybe still a little queasy Len but deep breathing helps keep it under control! As for the Aquarian planets, it was the stark realization that there were no transits (neither major nor the most accepted minor planets) transiting that sign as the quincunx was tight between Uranus and Saturn, which made it clear how its effects would be applied. By the time Nessus returns to Aquarius in August the two Aquarian rulers will be separated far enough from their irritating quincunx to not dilute the essence of Nessus. I do believe this present period is dedicated to all the entities (human or otherwise) who have natal points or planets in Aquarius to prepare them for the future we are on the threshold of.

Fortunately, by the time the November elections take place, and transiting Nessus is conjunct the U.S. Sibly Aquarian Moon once again, stability (albeit restructured somewhat) will allow clarity and reason, common sense and consciousness, feeling and commitment to guide the voters to vote with their heads and their hearts for what’s best for all.

  3. aword: Thank you. i agree with you regarding how Saturn would indeed have us find a point of focus. Chiron’s complex makeup also includes focus. In the case of both Saturn and Chiron, the main thing to remember is that duress need not be part of the scenario. When possible, coming from a place of autonomy and choice feels better. Oh, and yes, your love is gratefully felt as well.

be: Congratulations on the completion of you refrigerator ordeal, and i sincerely hope your nausea has found relief. Thank you for your idea about the constituents of Aquarius (either natal or transiting, i take it) being in an appropriately unique reception to the two rulers of fixed air being in quincunx aspect with each other. When Nessus retrogrades briefly (in a relative sense) back to Aquarius later this year, we should get a good chance to test your theory further. As regards to how that unique reception impacts the US natal Moon, you make a very good point which explains a lot. It would also be helpful to remember that both the quincunx and semi-sextile are considered “out of aspect” in addition to being aspects. Extending yur theory to the next (Capricorn) Full Moon thus makes sense as well. As regards to whther we are on the cusp of the “Age of Aquarius” i can’t really be offer convincing proof one way or the other, so much depends on underlying assumptions regarding where we are in an incredibly long length of time – the margin for error is very expansive. Nevertheless, if i were to trust anybody’s feelings on the matter, i would trust yours.

SensuousWisdom: A second Chiron return conjunction? Congratulations! What a powerful indication of your soul’s evolution! Your comment is as deeply moving as you are moved. We all thank you!

Elizabeth: You are very welcome. Perhaps someday balance will return, and the label “emotional” will be proffered and accepted as both an honor and a compliment. Thank you!

  4. Be,
    Ha! That is CooL! 🙂
(Speaking of “cool”, hope you’re enjoying the new ‘fridge!)

  5. “It’s possible to be very unemotional and still have strong feelings about any given subject or situation.”

Funny that such a simple point just made me realize a lot. The label of being “emotional” is not very positive in our society, but having strong feelings is one of the most potent common denominators we share.

    Thanks, Len– great article.

  6. Len, thank you for these words. Their gentle guidance feels like the warm mist that is falling over the rainforest I am in right now. 🙂 Tomorrow is my second Chiron return conjunction. I am deeply moved (how could I not be with all this focus on fluidity and the emotions?!) by how beautiful the universe is in its support of us all.

  7. I’m feelin’ the luv too aword. . . . . did you see that we responded at the same time, and we both read Len’s words as a map and we both had kitchen appliances on our minds. Hmm. . .

I’m loving my new refrigerator too! Peace on Earth, amen and god bless everyone,
    be

  8. I love it, Be! With natal Venus, Pholus on the DC, Chyron and Mercury lined up in AQ (opposing n. Uranus on the AC by-the-by) I’m feelin’ the luv.

  9. This is like a road map Len, and it arrives with perfect timing. (I’m expecting the delivery of my new refrigerator and the removal of the old refrigerator this afternoon.) Those feelings manifest as feeling, no kidding. I’m nauseous (a common feeling) from all the prep work (small living spaces need much maneuvering and planning in order to exchange old dead appliances with new large appliances) but grateful nonetheless for that grand water trine.

What you say about the water signs is also true for the Moon as you well know. It’s about feelings among other things. I’ve got a theory of sorts I’d like to run by you.

We know that Saturn in Scorpio has been playing a dual role by participating in the grand trine but he also has been in a long, drawn out quincunx (adjustment) with Uranus in Aries. Both signs are ruled (or co-ruled in the case of Scorpio) by Mars. Both planets are considered to be rulers of Aquarius (Saturn the old traditional and Uranus the new modern). It would be logical, would it not, to think of planets in the sign of Aquarius as being reactive or receptive (in feeling) to any stress (quincunx) felt by the ruler(s) of its sign? Since the U.S. Sibly chart Moon is in Aquarius, she would feel the push-pull stress of the old vs. the new and the influence of Mars’ energy in 2 different forms (Aries and Scorpio), as the Sun makes aspects with both Uranus and Saturn today.

To add to this peculiar condition, both Saturn and Uranus will be stationing (one retro, one direct) within 31 hours of each other. It seems to me that while this is the time of year for the U.S. to celebrate another solar return (4th of July), and considering that the U.S. Moon rules the sign that the U.S. Sun is in, the Moon is the one under considerable pressure to adjust (quincunx between tr. Uranus and Saturn) which will be “made conscious” through the natal U.S. Sun which is only 3 to 4 degrees from the transiting Sun (and therefore part of the grand water trine with Chiron and Saturn too.) That might explain a lot of things I’m thinking.

Looking ahead to the Capricorn Full Moon on July 12th, Mars will be in the same degree as Ceres and Vesta, 23+ Libra. They will trine Venus in Gemini, square the Sun and Full Moon and oppose Eris in Aries. Package these goddesses up along with the Sun in a feminine sign and it will put Mars under a lot of persuasive feminine power in that chart. Consider how that will affect the signs he rules (or co-rules); consider how those signs will affect the planets transiting them, ie. Saturn and Uranus. Does it not seem that a subtle (but largely unconscious) transition or even transformation is being experienced by the sign that Saturn and Uranus (co)rule which affects the U.S. Sibly Moon, and also all other planets in Aquarius in all the charts of the world’s people (especially those in the USA) who have them (Aquarian planets)?

Well, Aquarius bears the container that carries the water that symbolizes feelings, but Aquarius doesn’t directly translate that energy does it? It is relatively immune to expressed emotion, but it DOES understand it I believe. It is my theory that the astrology that we ponder, aspect by aspect, is, when combined altogether, a concert with many different sounds and vibrations; the music of the spheres. I believe it is playing the Dawning of the Age of Aquarius and we are the instruments. What do you think?

  10. Len, As always my gratitude for your succinct and poetic mapping a path, or at least posting directional signs for the journey.

Sun is on natal Ceres, 12th house; with your guidebook, I go forward with intent to acknowledge some deep feelings that are generally hidden from self. There’s more to this trine than just the one aspect of course, but Saturn would probably agree with finding a point of focus.

Change has been brewing on the front burner for some time, it seems that the meal may soon be served. Thank you for your continuing guidance and support.
