Coming Across — Sun Conjunct Neptune

The Pisces Sun’s exact conjunction with Neptune at 1:11 pm EST Sunday feels like a dream coming across to change. The specific experience will necessarily be your own. Yet, there are also indications of a global connection with ‘being’ itself. Your part, should you choose to accept it, will be to ground whatever Sunday brings across so as to create rather than be confused.

Astrology by Len Wallick

It begins with grounding the Sun. The actual Sun is day and light to the material world. The symbolic Sun used by astrologers corresponds in turn to the light of consciousness illuminating your awareness.

Wherever the Sun is shining, reality is illuminated so that you can better see it. It works that way in the material world. It also works that way on the zodiac.

Next, the idea is to ground yourself with astrology. Grounding through astrology may seem to be an oxymoron. Yet, there is no contradiction, only truth. For the truth to get across to you, the meaning of grounding must itself be grounded.

Grounding is not being stuck. To be grounded is to be connected through certainty. The one certainty in your life is constant change. It so happens the same is true of the sky. Everything moves up there. Even the so-called fixed stars appear to come and go with day and night, the seasons and the ages, all because of how the Earth itself moves and changes.

Hence, to be grounded with astrology is to feel your personal connection with the sky through the single certainty of change that connects all, both above and below. Once you have that grounding, it gets across to the very depths of your being that the changes above cannot help but correlate with all changes (including changes in your life) here below.

The key is to be able to read the changes above and make correlations that are real and useful for you. It’s the task to which astrologers passionately devote our lives. It is how you come to be reading these words. Even astrologers, however, are challenged by Neptune.

Even the great astrologer Robert Hand has called Neptune “one of the most difficult planetary influences to handle.” In part, the difficulty associated with Neptune has to do with Neptune’s association with dreams. Referring to Robert Hand again, “Everything that man dreams of making come true as well as everything man thinks is true, even though it isn’t, comes under the influence of Neptune.”

The association with dreams is what makes Neptune correspond with both confounding confusion and profound creativity. Engaging with the creative side of Neptune comes across as nearly always preferable.

When you are creative, you are an agent of change, and therefore grounded through participation in the one certainty that connects you with all things. Confusion is by definition no certainty at all, which means no connection, no grounding, and being at the mercy of change.

On Sunday, the Sun will merge with Neptune. The Sun will bring its symbolic light to the merger and restart a more-or-less annual cycle with Neptune by illuminating the reality of Neptune in your life. How the solar illumination of Neptune comes across will not be the same for any two beings, but at least you now have some idea of what to look for.

Look for the dreams most vividly coming across to you from wherever dreams originate. Look for impending changes that are certain to come across for you as well. Then, look for how you can be the bridge who creatively connects the inevitability of change with the possibilities represented by dreams, so that the changes and the dreams merge, grounding in the same reality.

In all likelihood the bridging will be a simple act of connection through the simple certainty of being. Whatever form it takes, if you can simply be the bridge between a single dream and a single change when the Pisces Sun hooks up with Neptune this coming Sunday, you will have become something vastly more yourself.

For instead of the earthly correlations of the Sun conjunct Neptune coming across to you, they will be coming across to the rest of us through you, and that is about as grounded as you can get.

  1. aword, wandering_yeti, Lunesoleil, be, Chief Niwots Son, DivaCarla, abc123, beth, Paul, Jann, Maria, P. Sophia, and Jude: Please accept my belated thanks for the richness and generous nature of your comments. You have each and all taken my meager service and made it something much greater with your thoughts and observations.

  2. Hey, Musicman! Your Nietzsche quote about owning yourself hasn’t left my thoughts since I read it:

“The individual has always had to struggle to keep from being overwhelmed by the tribe. If you try it, you will be lonely often, and sometimes frightened. But no price is too high to pay for the privilege of owning yourself.”

This touches me deeply, it’s the path to liberation. To live from Center as much as one can is the greatest of blessings. Truly, no price too high to pay. You reminded me of that … while making the process of transformation less frightening for those swirling in its currents … and you have my sincere appreciation.

Gratitude to you, P. Sophia, as well. That Sabian Symbol effectively defanged a worrisome projection of Neptunian energy that seemed to be gathering like a dark cloud. Much better from Dane’s point of view, warm indeed! I wish us all warm and happy Neptunian dreams today, with handfuls of appreciation to help leaven the rise.

  3. We receive and admit information all the time. We have a choice to be aware of the information, that is always in-formation. We are the fulcrum point, choosing and transforming this information (pre-form) of change. How we process and communicate this in-formation in us is how life will respond in kind. We creativity (mentally, physically and emotionally) can choose to shape our natural life path towards loves potential- becoming peace, love and joy in our life. And create impact through sending this vibration back out into the world.

Sunday the Sun Neptune conjunction is exact conjunct natal Saturn at 4 degrees Pisces. Thank you for this article Len, coming across and through. For flavor the astrological aspect would like to share the Sabian Symbol to degree:

    5° A WARM-HEARTED CROWD GATHERS AT A CHURCH BAZAAR.

Interchange of spirit and understanding on which groups are built. New self-development. Discouragement mastered. Commerce.

  4. This is an important heads up, thank you, Len. Also conjunct my mid heaven, so I’ll try to do some kind of ritual, tho SUNday isn’t the greatest for a 10th-houser. Discouraged from overwork and health; maybe can hit reset! Sorry to miss birthday wishes; hope someone served you for a change 😉

  5. Let me start and end with Frederick Nietzsche…..

“The individual has always had to struggle to keep from being overwhelmed by the tribe. If you try it, you will be lonely often, and sometimes frightened. But no price is too high to pay for the privilege of owning yourself.”

And what exactly are the implications…of owning one’s self? Being on both the creative side of Neptune….and then riding a continuum, vascillating across to the confusion and back. Allowing intuition to feed through to the core….a Bridge to the Core!…..I am certain I read something about that!

You may struggle with the interpretation and meaning of the energies that are in play, but that very struggle and the ensuing mystery affirms the existence of the creative act, the confusion, and hence the tangible part of taking ownership of it. It exists; I exist!

It does not matter where you are at with this; being lonely and frightened is an affirmation that you are truly alive. It takes great courage to see this through……and Saturn can spin you around again for another attempt, as easy and as fast as you can say 28 days to the Aries point.

Sitting still and letting it go right through you is actually how you deal with Voodoo in the darker parts of some cultures, so we have energies in play that are regarded by different cultures as Benefic, Malefic or from my perspective, both! It is about you and your system. As you build a system with no cracks, then you can handle the energy. In fact my definition of evil would be energy that is invoked by a person with cracks in their system.

Sunday is one of the best days of the year to upgrade your system! There are no mistakes! Only a sense of the journey!

And so to finish with Frederick…..

“You have your way. I have my way. As for the right way, the correct way, and the only way, it does not exist. Without music, LIFE would be a mistake.”

    Paul

  6. Here in the Northeast we are finally experiencing warm temperatures to soften the frozen tundra of a couple feet of snow. It is raining and the snow is melting, causing both flooding, and as the temperatures drop as we move into the evening, ice, black ice, sudden slippery conditions will form. This will happen for a few days, thawing, flooding and freezing, thawing, flooding and freezing, until all the snow is gone. Fog usually rises in the mornings as the snow melts, causing difficulty seeing the road ahead. And then next week back to the single digits at night. Frozen solid once again. The mutability of water to take many forms, aiding in the thaw of stuck patterns.

I picture a wooden boat in the middle of the ocean, no land in sight, just the mesmerizing movement of the water, dancing in the light of the sun. The solid wooden structure holding us afloat, keeping us safe from the approaching weather. Grounding us to change, to movement, hovering above land, buoyed by the waters. Transiting Saturn is conjunct my natal Neptune, trine my natal Saturn conjunct Chiron in Pisces, the Sun and transiting Neptune approach. Saturn is the anchor connecting to the earth below the water, Chiron and Saturn helping to clarify my dreams, providing the focus and the form to make them real. Keeping me from floating away, setting a course on the open ocean. Navigating through the thaw, through the fog.

I’m floating above the landscape, tethered to the ground by a bridge of pen to paper, lens to the world around me. Spreading these voices through the internet to a community surfing the Neptune wave. The expansiveness draws us together. The pause after the exhale, that moment of silence and anticipation waiting for the next breath to enter, that is my bridge to the other side. Astrology helps to ground the vastness of that space.

  7. Two things Chief Niwots Son, – your reminder that astrology is basically a geocentric art (indeed it is), and the parallel you draw between the times we are living in and the ancient flood myths – are priceless. Neppy rules the seas of water and the seas of dream, both making it tricky to navigate unless you are (spiritually) grounded in some way. We are blessed with wise men and women astrologers here aren’t we?

Knowledge would be key to surviving at this moment of Sun conjunct Neptune and astrology is good at providing knowledge. How remarkable then, that Chiron (the Key) in Pisces will be trine Jupiter (knowledge) in Cancer and Poseidon (aka Neptune) and Deucalion (similar story to Noah’s) as Sun meets Neptune. What divine grace we have been provided in this period of great emotional and psychological deluge.

  8. Re: “Everything that man dreams of making come true as well as everything man thinks is true, even though it isn’t, comes under the influence of Neptune.”

Out of the blue, on the radio last night they played a George Michael song with the lyrics: “All we have to do now, is take these lies and make them true.”

That was while driving in a blizzard, which became incredibly dangerous by the time I headed home again. Zero visibility. Couldn’t even see the exits on the highway, or if I could, they were so snow bound that I feared getting stuck. So I plodded along, willing myself and my car to go forward and stay on path, keeping a vision of my safe home in mind. It took a couple of hours but thankfully, my “dream” of being home safe came true.

I agree: astrology is grounding. It is the only thing I know that is consistently true; manifesting in all parts of my life in sync with the insights that astrologers generously share. Knowing of Neptune’s influence, as well as Mercury’s, gives me strength in moments of confusion or danger, as it helps me understand that there is more in play than weather reports, understated traffic advisories, and even the local culture of refusing to be intimidated by weather — even when perhaps we should.

  9. Grounding is a state of being when our physical body is in a clear relationship with Mother Earth. We can ground through astrology because it is (primarily) a geocentric art, Earth centered. When we are Earth centered in our body, we are at the center of the astrological dance, in the same way that our natal chart is calculated to the moment our body is born onto this Earth.

So now the Sun illuminates the King of Oceanic Dreams (Neppy, as he is known on SpongeBob Squarepants), we stand on dry land amidst the seas of dream and illusion to remain grounded while change swirls all around us. This reminds me of the multitude of flood myths handed down from the end of the Ice Age, when the sea levels rose many meters in a short period of time, drowning lands beneath the waves and leaving stories of the survivors in their wake.

Thank you Len for offering the reminder to keep to our centers while Neppy is active in our lives.

wandering_yeti- thank you for sharing your vision, and for sharing your wisdom about the joy-ride the heart can receive through our breath.

  10. Astrology’s been my grounding method for many years Len. Without it I’d be orbiting out there somewhere like a planet or even a comet flying blind. If not for the many modern astrologers who have researched how Neptune affects us humans, those of us under his influence wouldn’t be able to function in society. (Not that I do that well anyway!)

Like aword, I was drawn to your use of “bridge” as a metaphor for what we might serve as, operating between change and dream. A bridge rises above something to be crossed, unlike a tunnel that digs through it. There is that ethereal quality that Neptune so symbolizes and when we escape by means of films, drugs, religion or denial; we can remain “present” yet still move to another place if only temporarily. Those forms of Neptune energy need to be grounded by reality when faced with change that overwhelms. I can see how someone can act as a bridge; a form of reality for those who aren’t ready to face change yet.

I think too of how different people handle this Neptune quality. Today is Mitch McConnell’s birthday and as a Pisces (Sun) he has been dealing with Neptune’s influence for a long, long time now. My dear friend with cancer also celebrates his birthday today, and these two men are a decade apart in age as well as personality and sense of self. Astrology locates the various types of energy within us; how they interact and express, yet how they express on different levels of consciousness must be intuited by astrologers. Neptune can be the energy that facilitates that process.

Finally, I looked to see where the other planets would be since this is a new cycle for Sun-conjunct-Neptune and here in my city, Louisville, their conjunction is in the 9th house (of the moment) and within orb of a trine to Jupiter in Cancer and the Moon will be in Sagittarius. For folks in this city (and the surrounding area), this might suggest that the new cycle will emphasize travel to foreign countries (Sun-Neptune in 9th house, Jupiter associated with 9th house, Sagittarius associated with Jupiter and 9th house) or the people (Moon, Cancer) from foreign countries. It might also refer to religion or higher education or other means for expanding one’s understanding of the world we live in. All of this applies to everyone, except for the 9th house location, so remembering that Jupiter once ruled the sign of Pisces (and still does on certain levels, imo), it increases the Neptunian influence of acceptance and tolerance of others who are different.

Now I sign off and await the threatening tornado and/or gusting wind storms forecasted for the Ohio Valley area this evening. Doing my best to stay grounded Len!
    be the bridge

  11. When the dream meets reality, this weekend I’d be the happiest woman in the world, thanks to Len has the honour this the Sun Neptune conjunction
Good Weekend to all 🙂 )))))))))))))))))))))))

  12. Hard to handle…of course it’s hard to hand-le: does the wide ocean have a stick attached so you can mani-pulate it? Doing Neptune seems to me to be refraining from handling, that is manipulating. It’s a much subtler sense than grabbing with hands and twisting. Oh how her whirlpools can blow the human mind! Especially when they try to handle her, take a pill and deal a knock out blow to the ego…that’s not it. Neptune’s function is broken by that method. The Sun as heart as core rides the wave of the diaphragm rising and falling; the quality of the waves here will resonate in how the human senses the edges of the qi field. The sons of dualism grab and hold so hard that the subtle senses are squeezed out and Neptune can then only function as distortion as the energy of Cosmos breaks and ripples and mixes with internal resistance. Breath rising and falling…the distortions arise from the stopping places. Mind rides on breath. That’s getting to Neptune through the Saturn; it takes a subtle shade of discipline to hold just enough to be aware but not so much to squeeze the senses shut. Come to think of it typing doesn’t work either…;-)

Back to the natural light of the sky…

  13. Interesting you should mention this bridge thing Len….
Be the Bridge; it’s my new motto.
Awhile back I stopped trying to bring my dreams (night) into my “reality” (day) because I decided to treat both areas of my life as already united in some way that I could not “see” (that is I was forcing a square peg by trying to place day-time-conscious onto my dreamtime).
Although I’ve often gone into the “in-between” (when I paint for example), I have only in the last 48 hours palpably been in the “in-between” while only being in a normal state of being, no outward creating (such as painting) or inward creating (meditation), this is a place I can touch. It’s right here and right now..just…a bridge.
A place between Neptune and the Sun that is just as grounded as one side of the bridge or the other. Maybe they’ve got things for us to learn this spin-around.
