Oh the possibilities: Venus square Uranus

Today is Thursday, July 7, 2011 The Moon begins in early Libra, and makes a conjunction to Saturn just after 6:20 pm EDT. This lunar energy gives our emotions a direct line in to the cardinal square, with Pluto in Capricorn, Venus in Cancer and Uranus in Aries filling in the other corners. With the Moon in this kind of position making aspects to several planets, expect a lot of changes in mood, situation and perspective overnight and into tomorrow.

The angle between Venus and Uranus in particular is today’s highlight, as those two planets make an exact square at about 5:42 pm EDT. This is an interesting kind of tension. The goddess of love is skinny dipping, floating peacefully in this secluded pool, and who should pop out of the bushes but the unpredictable live wire himself, Uranus.

What to do? Scramble for your clothes? Dive under and swim to the other shore? Or perhaps ask him if he’d like to cool his jets and join you for a dip, since you don’t own the pond? What if this is the secret fantasy you’ve been having for weeks — can you tune into his electricity and live it out, borrowing a little from the Aries playbook? Just go with the flow? Then again, maybe you’re feeling a bit more like Uranus: you could surprise Venus with your discretion and come back later; or strip and swim and flirt, diving down to tug her toes; make a running cannonball-leap still fully clothed to get her to laugh; chat with her about the naturalness of nudity as you float at a respectable distance.

The point is, we have a choice about how we react to the unexpected in sex, love and life. Sometimes being thrown for a loop can be energizing; sometimes our spontaneity could use a little softness to its edges, a little beauty. The water need not extinguish the spark, and the fire need not leave us steaming. Try alternating between both roles as you move through your day. Try saying “yes” if you’re asked to play out of the blue, and extend an invitation to play if you feel your fuse suddenly shorten — even if you’re only talking to yourself.

  1. thanks all — glad to know the post and pic are appreciated!

i didn’t think i’d be able to write something, since my brain was shutting down yesterday in my hot little apt. but the i stepped outside the back door to find this perfect little wind tunnel between my building and the one next door, grabbed my laptop to sit on the steps, and guess where i really wanted to be…?

i actually thought eric was going to add a bit more of the day’s astrology to this — he said there was a lot going on today; the little story was all i could manage before zipping out to a class. something about this photo really called to me, instead of a photo of a pond. i guess it seemed to suggest a venusian influence on uranian energy: all those pretty colors flashing out.

and len: you crack me up!

now, if i could just learn to follow my own advice…
    🙂

  2. Yeoowza, amanda, for another great photo — and then to both you and eric for the veeery inviting post!

“The water need not extinguish the spark, and the fire need not leave us steaming.” Perfect.

To hold the delicious tension of today’s squaring of V & U and simply flow with it……

  3. Amanda and Eric,
This is a good one. Helps us to lighten up and level out, just in case the invitation to play really should come out of the proverbial blue.

For a minute there it seemed like you were going to cast Charlie Sheen as Uranus.
