Mercury-Pluto and Venus-Neptune: Are you an innie or an outie?

Today is Thursday, Jan. 12, 2012.. The Moon enters Virgo at 4:44 am EST. A Virgo Moon is rather particular, and this one makes a series of aspects all around the wheel. You can expect a certain amount of changeability to your mood and outlook thought the day, though two other personal planets are calling the dominant tune now: the mentally focused Mercury in its conjunction to Pluto, and the mellower Venus-Neptune conjunction. Both are exact tomorrow.

Two pairs of inner planet-outer planet conjunctions happening simultaneously like this is a special condition. Planets close to the Sun represent palpable, direct human experiences. Those far from the Sun tend to represent deeper spiritual or psychological processes. When you put the two together, there’s a point of contact between those two realms, and our mundane feelings, ideas and choices can seem much larger and more meaningful than normal. You may feel excited or daunted by the prospect, depending on what is at hand in your life.

Mercury conjunct Pluto represents deep realizations, focused ideas, and observations that come with a sense of finality. Don’t be surprised if some dark or unusual ‘big world’ news emerges. Venus conjunct Neptune invokes the principle of ‘higher love’ — the kind that’s not beset by jealousy or possessiveness but which has an egalitarian, humanitarian spirit.

With Mercury-Pluto, you may find yourself feeling more serious and mentally intense. You may not be satisfied with superficial conversations, but rather prefer deeply profound communications and activities in which you’re able to uncover penetrating insights. Just try to be conscientious and compassionate when delivering the truths you’re discovering. Think before you speak, to minimize ruffled feathers along the way. You may tend to dwell on a single issue or idea during this transit, so be mindful of compulsive thinking.

Venus simultaneously conjunct Neptune in Aquarius grants some extra possibility of getting lost in your introspective and novel thoughts. Venus-Neptune can be overly idealistic, which cautions against making any important decisions — especially regarding relationships (though as noted, any decision may seem more meaningful than usual now). Given that Venus-Neptune is working in tandem with a Pluto aspect, you’ll want to tune your antennae carefully to the mix of dreaminess and gravitas. Try using this combination of planetary meetings to consider how sorting out your personal relationships can ripple out into the wider world. Essentially, the more aligned you are within, the more easily you can align with those you come into contact with.

Consider harnessing any innovative and creative ideas revealed to you in these says. Passionate, artistic expression of your vision is available to you right now. Venus swiftly moving into Pisces after making this conjunction and Neptune doing the same in early February grant this creative surge.

That said, don’t forget that Virgo Moon today. The Moon is not a ‘mover and shaker’ the way Pluto is, but if you start wanting to ‘fix’ things, try to steer those urges toward your living space or workspace. Your loved ones may be less receptive to your ‘fixit’ leanings if applied to their behaviors and habits, since any desire to ‘serve’ is less likely to take their actual feelings into account. But you can serve your relationships indirectly by harnessing a waning Virgo Moon to tidy, clean and organize your environments, thereby clearing space for creative expression. Again, it comes down to finding clarity and alignment for yourself, so you can be in harmony with others – not the other way around.

  1. be, thanks for the info on Appolon. The keywords are all markers for what I have been working on for several years. I have Saturn in Libra, so I have been crawling out of the Second Saturn return. I restored the old building thirty years ago, and have been trying to sell it or rent it for over a year and half. Lots of vultures and scavengers think it’s a fire sale, but I’m not desperate. Stuff? Oh, scores and scores of file boxes and cabinets of “other people’s” stuff as in legal files. Can’t be trashed, unfortunately, but can be shredded or burned after I follow legal ethics guidelines. Or, I rent a storage area…in someone else’s name and then not pay the rent. Ha, ha. (That’s a joke.)

Thanks for the encouragement all here at PW. That, along with the stars and my farmer friend’s size 11 wide shoe in the middle of my ass may finally keep me in motion instead of on the couch. (Oh, and btw, I sometimes try to smoke while sulking and sucking my thumb at the same time. Takes lots of practice.)

Meanwhile, I was blown away by the title on Eric’s 2012 Scorpio reading “Life is An Experiment in Community.” (Will read the full report later this morning instead of working.) So, time to find more peeps for the Tribe here: people who want to see this community as a Transition Town (http://www.transitionnetwork.org/ and http://transitionus.org/home), people doing Reike, crystal healing, spiritual direction, astrology, belong to Community Supported Agriculture, and much more. Lots of ideas: time for others’ energy to implement.

Again, much gratitude and blessings. I’m so grateful I landed here.

  2. Jann:

You go! A decade ago I got the “poo-poo” from family when I suggested we create a project of turning our grandparent’s old house (amazing building!) into some sort of community center, maybe in conjunction with their church or hospital – as their legacy to that which they dedicated their lives. There are about a milion of us couzins, so really, great potential.

    Ha. Not with that family.

Well – and so now I can vicariously live that with you. Thank you! Your dream makes me feel warm and fuzzy.

  3. One other thing, since your project starts with an old building, I thought you would like to know that the uranian point Apollon has been hanging at the same degree with Saturn for a while and since Saturn rules buildings, especially old ones, here is what is attributed to his invisible “partner”.

Apollon is considered the god of wisdom. He learned that passion is not the most important factor, that harmony, understanding and evenness of temperament are critical in order to carry out one’s goals successfully. He knew that inner peace leads to healing. He brought about balance by facing and dealing with excesses.

Keywords for Apollon are experience, equilibrium, harmony, convalescense, success, commerce, the sciences, abundance at all levels of reality.

Based on what you have told us here about your idea, he seems to be a match made in heaven, in a manner of speaking. Just thought you should know.

  4. zerosity,

You’re good Jann! Sulking and sucking your thumb at the same time? I can’t even walk and chew gum at the same time. I’m seriously impressed with your get-up-and-go, and your walk-the-talk too. How exciting that the first of your new tribe is so enthusiastic about the project. With all the planets still going in forward motion for another week and a half, much progress on the old building clean-up seems more than just a possibility. As long as it isn’t your “stuff” you don’t have to read or examine it. . . just trash it. Virgo Moon may not be a mover and shaker, but she conjuncts Virgo Mars tomorrow evening and he is.

I’m sure I’m not the only one who marvels at your determination to find an alternative path for yourself and your building space and I hope you will continue to report back here with the progress. Bravo.

  5. Update: Got a “love” letter from Uncle (as in Sam) in today’s mail – something else to “tidy” up. Then spent two hours looking at about a thousand square feet of clutter and files that need to be cleared from the office space in my building with my two like-minded cohorts. One is a man a few years younger than me, the other a young woman near thirty with energy and enthusiasm to get moving. They are organic farmers and brought good juju/energy to the building which sorely needed it – something to counteract too many decades of too many lawyers using the space.

So, we have a list of priorities on clearing the rooms, cleaning, moving furniture around and getting the building ready for more like-minded “tribe” members. The young woman teaches music and wants to use some space for lessons. Since they are organic farmers, we need to move now while they have time before the outdoor farm work begins again. That means I need to heed the natural cycle.

This Virgo Moon may not be a “mover and shaker” but I sure felt it’s size 11 boot in my ass today. Or maybe it was my friend’s… Either way, planning and prioritizing are a start, some movement after years of stagnated stuckiness. It was the words of wisdom from the PW blog and comments that kept me from retreating to the couch in my warm fuzzies to sit and practice my technique of sulking and sucking my thumb at the same time.

Thanks, Len, for the encouragement, and thanks to all here at PW.

  6. ps: I was describing my life recently as a “nantucket sleighride” and the aspects I read about today seem to validate my metaphor. I’m thinking Venus/Neptune 4 degrees from my Sun/Merc/Ascending as the fun stuff and the pluto/merc as that which is harpooned. Yikes … and RAY!! …. and omg.

  7. len & kelly (and all) — thanks! yes, i think you really have to love food to photograph it well, and by “love,” i mean both enjoy eating it and also see it as food and as much more than that — something larger and deeper — yet without putting it so far out of reach that you can no longer eat it. with ‘meat’, especially, i think the closer i am to its animal form, the more gratitude informs the beauty i see when i photograph it, and feel as i eat it.

  8. As Pluto now sits atop my Ceres/Venus/NN … I am digging the food “fotos” … keep ’em coming, Amanda!! hey, is it lunchtime yet??

    mm.

  9. “Mercury conjunct Pluto represents deep realizations, focused ideas, and observations”

Oh yeah. I posted a “deep realization” and “observation” response to Tuesday’s Daily Astrology and the conversation there (late because of computer issues). This realization (among others) has been bubbling up for days now.

It is SO good to finally be on the other side of the crazy and raging hormones I have been riding for a year! I think it was someone here on PW who, a few weeks ago or so, posted that it is a lot better after those hormones settle down. Yessir indeed! I feel like my old self again! Yippee!

Thanks everyone here for always being so astute, articulate, compassionate, and insightful! And for accepting my ramblings throughout these hormonally driven (for me) months!

  10. be: Brilliant observation on the septile (and on splitting hairs). Thank you once again for being such a great teacher. Please enjoy the snow safely – we need you!

JannKinz: Thank you for the pure inspiration of your comment. May the tribe lift you as the wind lifts wings.

  11. great post! And Len, thanks, that quote nails it as do your words and Mencius.

    Cyrano!!! Whhhooooooohooooooo!

  12. Nice, and this sums up my situation(s) very well. Doesn’t Cyrano exemplify the spirit of Janus wonderfully as well, looking forwards and backwards?

  13. Riding the Virgo Moon as it skitters across my Asc, looking at lots of squares with the transiting Venus and Neptune to natal Sun, and more to natal Venus and Neptune. Not sure how strong the energy will be, but if I can’t tidy, clean and organize both the living and working spaces, at least I can look for insights to bring some things into fruition, realization.

I have spent that last four years trying to figure out how to exit my career of thirty-five years, find an alternative path and a “tribe” that will support that. Today, I am supposed to meet CSA friends (organic, sustainable small farmers) to determine the logistics to cleaning out my office building (a 160 year old restored house) to repurpose (from a law practice) it to do something with it that will involve the community – an energetic healing center; group meetings on sustainable living; educational meetings on organic farming and our food supply; spritual direction and energy healing… the list is long of what is possible, including having this community become a Transition Town. And, I need the energy of the tribe to move me and the ideas forward. Tribes are about relationships.

But, first steps first: balance the dreaminess and the gravitas, harness the innovative and creative ideas, ride the creative surge.

Thanks for the focus, PW – not just today’s blog, but all this week and especially Be’s comments about community yesterday.

PS: Good to see Cyrano de Augergine again. Do we really wish the fate of a primary upon his appendages? Oh, and I lkie his green hair/hat better than the coiffures of the Pubs.

  14. I just realized that the outer planets Pluto and Neptune are forming a septile aspect since they are a smidge under 52 degrees apart. If EXACTLY exact it would be 51.4 degrees, and for all I know they are, but whose counting? (Sorry Virgo Moon!)

This means we get a double septile when Mercury conjuncts Pluto and Venus conjuncts Neptune; so much more bang for the buck. Not only are they simultaneous but they are in aspect.

A septile is 1/7 of a circle and this means occult and mystical forces are at work. My little Aspect Finder gizmo says a septile “destines and divines”. The Universe is trying to tell us something and since the telling is coming via Mercury and Venus, we should be aware of what we are thinking, watching, reading, or listening to and who or what we love for a very personalized message. You are so right Daily Astrology, this could be much more meaningful than normal.

I promise, Virgo Moon, to clean the refrigerator today as tomorrow I want to be sitting down with a cup of hot chocolate watching it snow when these aspects happen.

  15. Thank you for writing “the more you are aligned within, the more easily you can align with those you come in contact with.” That is so important right now with these inner-outer planet contacts. In addition, thank you for reminding us that it is always important to remember (regardless of the planetary aspects) that none of us are here to fix anybody, and if the urge comes up, to (in the words of Mencius) “turn inward and examine oneself in every point.” That is where authentic service begins.

  16. I love these daily blogs! I read ’em and sit back and meditate on ’em – they’re extremely helpful! (Just sayin’) 🙂
