Mercury moves on

Mercury is finally moving on to some fresh territory (can I get a hallelujah?). First, Mercury ingresses Pisces today at 6:24 pm EDT. On Thursday, the same day that the Sun enters Aries for the equinox, Mercury finally moves on from its post-retrograde echo (or shadow) phase.

For many people, this has been a, shall we say, ‘funky’ Mercury retrograde. Even the pre-retrograde echo phase and the last two and a half weeks of post-retrograde echo phase in direct motion have been pretty wiggy.

It will be a relief to feel Mercury (that is, our minds) finally moving with some brand-new energy. Pisces can be a creative yet challenging sign for Mercury. It is lyrical and dreamy and psychic and musical, but also sensitive and potentially acting more from subconscious levels than its usual conscious plane.

Having Mercury and the Sun both in Pisces for the next couple days is an invitation to give some attention to any visions you have for the year and any creative ideas you want to put into play. When the Sun ingresses Aries on Thursday, there will be some new impetus to begin putting those visions and ideas into actual, tangible motion.

Right now, let your imagination and instinct do their thing — but do an extra layer of reality-check before making any big leaps (especially any leaps that your bank account cannot back up). Mercury is conjunct Neptune, exact Saturday, but in effect now.

Mercury-Neptune, especially in Pisces, is particularly supportive of musical and dramatic pursuits — activities that let your mind inhabit another world of expression altogether, including fantasy and psychic contact. However Mercury-Neptune is also an aspect that can open up channels of uninvited or unwelcome psychic contact and obsession. So this would be a good week to check your boundaries in that realm if you’re particularly sensitive.

Remember, too, that this is a second Mercury-Neptune contact for this retrograde cycle, though the first one was not exact: Mercury stationed Rx just shy of Neptune back on Feb. 6. Now, just as then, Mercury will also trine Ceres (which itself is now retrograde) in Scorpio as it enters Pisces. On Feb. 6, I wrote about how this configuration speaks strongly of letting your sexual fantasies feed you.

That’s a prime theme again this week, too. With Mercury now direct and Ceres retrograde, the image is of how our outward expression of these fantasies can be inwardly nourishing. Although until Mercury is safely out of its own shadow/echo territory, you’ll want to double-check the email address of anyone you express those fantasies to before you hit ‘send’.

I love this, Amanda. Time has stretched & compressed so crazily lately, it doesn’t seem possible that Mercury is still in its shadow phase. I, too, am ready to move on with the visions & plans that have come to the surface. 🙂

  2. HalleluJAH! My Mercury is happy to be moving into new lands, that retro + shadow took way too long. Time for the new!
