Dear Friend and Reader:
This week’s horoscope is based on the forthcoming conjunction of Mars and Chiron in Aries, on June 15. I am planning a more detailed article about next week. I cover June events with the monthly horoscope. NOTE: In service of completing Your Future, Your Life, I may forgo next week’s horoscope and Planet Waves FM.
I will also describe working with this aspect pattern in tonight’s STARCAST.
Here is a brief summary.
Mars: Motivation, Assertiveness and Desire
Mars involves maleness in all its forms, the concept of masculinity, and gender-free attributes such as motivation, self-assertiveness, will and desire (with sexuality included — Mars is a glyph that illustrates testicles and an erect penis). Chiron relates to healing and wounding, as well as to “power wounds” of the kind that build character and integrity.
Maleness is in trouble right now, and there are not many people who are interested in helping. In a free-association test, I wonder how many respondents would say the word “toxic” after hearing the word “male.” Maleness is assaulted by a constant tidal wave of artificial hormones, most of which mimic the female hormone estrogen. The current worst source: plastic food packages.
The most pervasive of these chemicals cause decreases in sperm count, lower testosterone levels, and smaller penises in newborns exposed as fetuses. Exposure is not good for women either, causing a wide diversity of reproductive problems. When depend on testosterone too. And these problems are just the ones on the biological level.
Without Mars, nothing much happens. It takes will, drive, intention and desire to survive on this planet — such as getting out of bed in the morning. All of these properties are described by Mars. Mars conjunct Chiron prompts the question: what happened to my will? What happened to my desire to grow?
Synchronous: Juno Conjunct Nessus in Pisces
There is also a conjunction of Juno and centaur Nessus — at exactly the same time as Mars conjunct Chiron. This is a rather impressive synchronicity — the aspects occur less than an hour apart from one another.
Juno, the third asteroid ever discovered, pertains to marriage and relationships. In my own work, I have seen that it often describes the first marital partner, or characteristics of the early desired partner. But that can be based on mother’s conditioning rather than something innate in a person.
Juno also describes issues of jealousy and control, as well as “the bone of contention” in relationships. It can represent the issue that does not go away, usually due to a psychological hangup projected into the relationship. Nessus, like all the centaurs, addresses ancestral matter. That means that its effects can be multigenerational.
The mythology of Nessus is circular in structure, describing the return of karma to its source. The key phrase “the buck stops here” describes the accountability theme of this centaur. Mixed in with its mythology are themes of hazy or ambiguous sexual agreements, the consequences of taking revenge, and themes related to sexually-transmitted diseases.
In Pisces, we are always talking about the emotional and subtle-plane material as well as any physical manifestations.
Mars-Chiron describes what is contained within an individual, and the journey of personal development and healing. The Juno-Nessus pairing describes what is contained within relationships. It describes the cycles of relationships, and the causes of matters within them — particularly of marriage.
Both conjunctions describe matters that call for mature attention. Is just a warmup — more next week and on STARCAST.
Prepare for the Loss of Roe v. Wade
We are all on notice that the Supreme Court is planning to strike down the landmark 1973 decision This is the ruling that address a woman’s constitutional right to choose whether she wants to carry a pregnancy to term. It is the closest thing in the United States to an Equal Rights Amendment.
I covered Roe v. Wade in a series of articles last month, of which this is the most comprehensive.
I plan to lead with this issue on Friday’s Planet Waves FM.
Your horoscope this week is based on these two aspects.

Planet Waves Weekly Holoscopes for June 9, 2022
You may need to take a risk in an emotional partnership in order to assert yourself in a way that allows you to find your own healing and self-completion.
Aries (March 20-April 19) — What seems to be about you personally may more closely relate to your concept of what a relationship is. You’re also being informed by ideas about marriage and the consequences of actions that may go back generations. The question you now face is: what does it mean to be an individual being? We are all pressured by numerous forces to think of ourselves as half of a relationship rather than a whole person. To the extent that many relationships work, that is because people have the sense of being completed by their partner. Even under very good circumstances, relationships can be threatened by individuality. You may need to take a risk in an emotional partnership in order to assert yourself in a way that allows you to find your own healing and self-completion. Anyone who collaborates with you can rightly be called a partner. Anyone who does not, needs a new title. It would be unwise to prioritize what you think a relationship should be over and above who you are and what you need to grow and heal.
Factors in your chart urge you to be cautious about honoring social norms. They have gotten quite a few people into serious trouble the past few years.
Taurus (April 19-May 20) — You may be more concerned about the public image conferred by a relationship than you are about your own personal needs, healing process, and self-development. This is understandable; there are many social circles where one’s relationship is the thing that confers citizenship in society. Single people can be considered a threat on various levels, particularly given how shaky so many relationships are. Attractive and free-thinking people may be considered safe if they are neutralized by the claim of being “taken.” There are two sides to this equation, at least. Factors in your chart urge you to be cautious about honoring social norms. They have gotten quite a few people into serious trouble the past few years. From your viewpoint, this is not an honest game, and you want above all to learn sincerity and directness. You do this by nothing other than practice. Uranus in your birth sign is urging you to be boldly, distinctly yourself and nothing but yourself. Your life is not about them — it’s about you.
We live in a time of extreme conformity, where many people are doing everything in their power to disappear and not be noticed. This will not work for you.
Gemini (May 20-June 21) — Your Sun sign (and Gemini rising) has Aries in the 11th house — out in the open, among the crowd. Where Aries is placed, aware people seek what used to be called self-actualization. Social existence is a basic necessity for you. You now have Chiron moving through this house, a long term transit that spans from 2018 to 2027. Chiron brings a focus of energy wherever it goes. It brings learning challenges and the occasional crisis. We live in a time of extreme conformity, where many people are doing everything in their power to disappear and not be noticed. This will not work for you; you will get attention no matter what you do, and be seen as someone who bucks social norms even if you wear blue jeans and a tee-shirt to a rock concert. Mars is now firing up Chiron, and you may have some occasion to stand up or stand out. You don’t need to do anything special other than practice sincerity, and speak in a polite tone of voice. If you fear you may be judged, remember: opinions verge on worthless these days, and they evaporate fast.
Several factors suggest that this year will present many opportunities to excel in your career or vocation.
Cancer (June 21-July 22) — The sign of the Crab is famous (at least in astrology books) for being reclusive, cautious, private, and focused on home rather than profession. But is this really true? Anyway, at the moment, you are in a position to stand high above your peers and competitors with the work that you’re doing. Several factors suggest that this year will present many opportunities to excel in your career or vocation. Between the presence of Jupiter in this angle of your chart, and the forthcoming conjunction of Mars conjunct Chiron there, you don’t need to assert yourself or do anything to get attention — other than what you do well. Do not seek publicity; rather, allow yourself to be recognized for your accomplishments. You are as visible as it gets; the only variable is what you are seen doing. Over this, you have considerable influence. Maintain your focus, and emphasize developing the quality of your work above all else. And I suggest you live like you have a TV crew following you around — anything you say or do could become a public matter. Your integrity counts manifold right now.
The human race would have a much easier time if it chose to not worship abstract notions of God and goodness, and stuck to sincerity and courage.
Leo (July 22-Aug. 23) —Those born under your sign may be respectful toward religion and spiritual beliefs, but your calling is to have faith in yourself. The human race would have a much easier time if it chose to not worship abstract notions of God and goodness, and stuck to sincerity and courage. While it’s easier to project these qualities outward, such does not help you, or anyone, really. The resulting problems are the very things that spirituality rails against — egotism, selfishness, the failure of ethics, and a diversity of others. Whatever God may be, you contain he, she or it — otherwise, the concept is meaningless. It is the seeker who makes the choice to go on the spiritual journey. This is an act of personal volition. It is the aspirant whose heart guides them to rise to the occasion and follow the example of people they respect. You are the one who asks for help from spiritual agency, and if you do not, you’re unlikely to notice it. Therefore, be resolutely what you are, and be humbly what you aspire to be.
The merge-liberate-merge again cycle can get old. I would suggest reconsidering this approach. You are learning that your need to actualize your being can no longer be accommodated by the intimate relationship as classroom.
Virgo (Aug. 23-Sep. 22) –One of the challenges of Virgo is that you tend to use relationships as a means of self-development. Not everyone does this consciously; you at least do it consistently. The challenge is that you can get lost in intimate relationships, and therefore seem to lose yourself. Then you wake up and decide that something about the relationship has to change, to accommodate the way that you are changing. The merge-liberate-merge again cycle can get old. I would suggest reconsidering this approach. You are learning that your need to actualize your being can no longer be accommodated by the intimate relationship as classroom. For that to happen, you would need to give it another job — and find a bigger space to explore and play. Here is an idea: every single transaction, no matter how large or small, presents you with a choice to express yourself as you truly are. Each also presents an opportunity to blend in or merge with the will of another person. This choice you face day-to-day, and hour-to-hour.
Focus your message: say what you mean, mean what you say, and when you find a difference, do the work and resolve it. You can play this as a spiritual game, and you may find you like it.
Libra (Sep. 22-Oct. 23) — Focus on language. Do you understand what someone is saying? If you don’t, do they explain more deeply when asked? I suggest you do just that when you feel a need to. And at the same time, work on your words and the logic behind them. Focus your message: say what you mean, mean what you say, and when you find a difference, do the work and resolve it. You can play this as a spiritual game, and you may find you like it. You don’t need to be any more defensive than you would be rewriting an essay to make your meaning apparent. Others may play a role because if they don’t understand something you say, you may not, either. (A well-written essay may go through 10 drafts, so be patient with the process.) Eventually you get to your real meaning and your real intent. With that, you can be in harmony with the values and the logic that are helping you assemble your words, your ideas and your observations. This is time well spent, as it will offer you some excellent rewards.
I would remind you again: the two are the same thing for you. You can try to partition them off, and do work that stresses you out, or breathe bad air or soak in fluorescent light.
Scorpio (Oct. 23-Nov. 22) — Your workplace must support your overall health. The work you do must be the true expression of who you are — or give you plenty of room to find out. I’ve been raising this theme in various Scorpio readings for a few years. With your ruling planet Mars about to make a conjunction to Chiron in the house that influences both work and wellbeing, I would remind you again: the two are the same thing for you. You can try to partition them off, and do work that stresses you out, or breathe bad air or soak in fluorescent light. Perhaps you’ve resolved this one; I am here to affirm your choices, and speak to anyone who may be hesitating. For you, work and wellbeing must be synonymous. That means, among other things, investing your precious time and energy into only what truly affirms your existence. If you want to make a change, the time has never been better. The employment market is hungry for anyone competent and dedicated. You will have your options wide open, so decide based on what is truly right for you.
You have the potential to connect your mind to your true talent to your ability to support yourself. There may be a relatively easy solution, or you may need to figure it out.
Sagittarius (Nov. 22-Dec. 22) — Expressing creativity is about passion, taking risks, and having good habits. You have the potential to connect your mind to your true talent to your ability to support yourself. There may be a relatively easy solution, or you may need to figure it out. Remember that in digital life, nothing is really simple; it typically takes 14 emails and 128 text messages to arrange a lunch meeting, where it used to take one phone call. So you might stick to allowing yourself to take chances, connecting with the love behind your ideas, and then work consistently toward a result that you personally choose. To do this, you may need to feel like you’re neglecting something, or setting aside commitments to others. If that is true, be honest about that and give others a chance to arrange their lives around your choices. That’s one way to be good for commitments you cannot necessarily keep. Step over, through and around any residual guilt and allow yourself to experience the fun and the pleasure of true self-expression.
Most people substitute the approval of others for their own self-assurance. To do that, it’s usually necessary to make compromises to get that approval.
Capricorn (Dec. 22-Jan. 20) — Perhaps your central spiritual lesson in this lifetime is learning confidence in yourself. Most people substitute the approval of others for their own self-assurance. To do that, it’s usually necessary to make compromises to get that approval. And that does not build your confidence, or ability, or give you practice facing your personal challenges. To really be yourself, you must enter the territory of love without compromise. This can seem daunting, until the day comes when you figure out there is no other kind of love. It’s holistic or it does not exist. Your self-approval is about the whole person you are, not just the parts you like or that seem admirable. And the people who care about you will care enough to respect your growth process and the experiment that is your existence. There’s just one challenge: for some, it’s not easy to accept this; it’s not easy to trust this. But you have plenty of examples of when it worked out, so you have something to aspire to.
Look around the room you’re in. Every last thing you see was preceded by a drawing, which was preceded by a concept.
Aquarius (Jan. 20-Feb. 19) — We could say, never doubt the power of an idea. Or we could ask: when else did anything but an idea change society? Look around the room you’re in. Every last thing you see was preceded by a drawing, which was preceded by a concept. Every policy, project, media presentation, building and everything else is the result of a notion that may have first been scribbled on a napkin. Your chart says to honor your ideas. Work with them and work with your mind as the substance of your being. You do not just have ideas; you are an idea. You do not just give messages; your existence is a message. Therefore, what do you want that idea or that message to be? Who do you want to be? This will proceed from your self-concept outward; from the inner plane expanding onto the material plane. Pay very close attention to ideas: what you think and your ideas about yourself. They amount to the same thing.
For you this is always a double-edged matter. There is always another possibility than the one you are living out.
Pisces (Feb. 19-March 20) — Your astrology continues to emphasize finances. The message is to be as intentional as you can; and as true to your values as is humanly possible. While what is being called “late stage capitalism” goes exactly the opposite direction, your mission is to find the place of truth and integrity within yourself, and let everything proceed from there. Mars in Aries is offering you motivation and energy. Chiron in Aries is reminding you of the challenges of being different; of being a maverick; and of the difficulties you have faced in the past. You will be working with all of these things as tools and resources. This is a way of making the best out of what you have, and you have plenty — including the benefit of many lessons learned. Meanwhile, your ruling planet Jupiter is involved, and is mostly describing your potential and the resources that you have available. Put this all to good use. You do not get astrology this strong and this beneficial every day. Therefore, step up with your heart and soul.
