Planet Waves Monthly Horoscope for January 2023 | Go To All Signs
By Eric Francis Coppolino

Aquarius (Jan. 20-Feb. 19) — If you have been short of ideas, Jupiter in Aries suggests they will be present in abundance. However, it will help if you focus on a problem, puzzle, or need and then seek the answer. Work with specifics rather than with generalities. I know that Jupiter is the master of all that is broad and general, but it’s making its way toward Chiron, which is about refinement and documentation. You may find yourself in a situation where you were looking right at the answer or the solution and didn’t know it. That is often the case. You may discover you already knew what you needed to learn. In any event, it’s unlikely you will need to invent something complicated. The knowledge you require is readily available rather than being buried somewhere. Just don’t assume that anything you find from an external source is correct. The real work will be in verification of the concept, and then developing it. Ideas exist in profusion, but focusing them and then applying them specifically to your situation can take some time and some skill. So take your time, and while you’re busy keeping your focus, remember to allow your mind to drift at times, since the best information and ideas come from your intuition.

Planet Waves Monthly Horoscope for December 2022 | Go To All Signs
By Eric Francis Coppolino

Aquarius (Jan. 20-Feb. 19) — You are about to have many solutions to pending problems available to you. However, you will need to do the mental work to match them up. This, in turn, calls for an inventory of situations that you are facing which need to be addressed. Therefore, be bold about identifying such circumstances, puzzles and various challenges. Notice how many of them have their roots in two main categories of issues: communication breakdowns, and the failure to notice the obvious. Start with assessing those and you will find that there are fairly easy approaches you can take — though they all involve mindfulness. As you are likely to be in various group situations (groups are everywhere, though this is a tendency for your sign more than for others), you have probably noticed that there are some people who do all the mindfulness for everyone else. It’s those “everyone elses” who you need to make sure do not get in your way, and keep the mindful people near you. You have to pay close attention nearly all the time, and you cannot be distracted by those who suck up your mental bandwidth (no matter how much you have). It’s also time to review the past three years of Saturn in your birth sign. This ends in March, and a whole new era begins: that of Pluto in your birth sign for the next 21 years. Pluto will ramp up the energy, the intensity of your affairs and will also raise the stakes on everything you’re doing. This review is essential, looking at all the major areas of your life: work, finance, relationships and your mental and physical well-being.

Planet Waves Monthly Horoscope for November 2022 | Go To All Signs
By Eric Francis Coppolino

Aquarius (Jan. 20-Feb. 19) — The next few weeks are likely to bring more questions than answers; and a good question gets you half the way to what you want to know. Without actually asking, you cannot have a meaningful response. Therefore, any sincere inquiry is an excellent investment of your time and thought. But you must also challenge your assumptions, which block answers. In my experience, Aquarius is the sign that most needs to know when it does not know. Aware of your own intelligence, you can push the limits of your own observations. And at times you skip asking the real questions because you know that the answer might compel you to rethink your whole approach to an important issue, or to your whole way of living. There will be revelations over the next two weeks (into and beyond the total lunar eclipse of Nov. 8) and the next few months (of Mars retrograde, though January and beyond). Do not assume you know — anything. Turn every statement of fact into a question. Identify and challenge your beliefs. Insist to yourself that you have a factual basis for what you think is true. It may seem like the heat is on, though what we are experiencing now is merely a warm-up for Pluto arriving in your sign on March 23. Flex and strengthen your growth muscles. You will need them.

Planet Waves Monthly Horoscope for October 2022 | Go To All Signs
By Eric Francis Coppolino

Aquarius (Jan. 20-Feb. 19) — If you have lived for a long time with no view of the horizon, no sense that more is possible, a diminished sense of the future, or lacking faith in yourself, you will appreciate the astrology that is rapidly developing. Most of the action in your chart is on what we could call the spiritual level — it involves your perception of yourself rather than “objective reality.” From your own internal viewpoint, objective reality does not exist; there is only your personal (what is called subjective) perspective. This is what you’re being called to work with — to learn how your viewpoint determines what you see as reality. This is one of the most challenging lessons in a world where we are told that everything is mediated and determined from the outside. It certainly can seem that way — and no, I don’t think that floods and earthquakes are determined by individual will. Yet how you see the world, and all of its people, and all events, most certainly are directly the consequence of your own values. Most people resist this idea with all their might, which is energy that would be better directed at doing some personal exploration and reflection. That is on tap for you, in the form of what A Course in Miracles calls the “period of sorting out” and what The 12 Steps Program calls “a fearless and searching moral inventory.” Yet this is not in theory; it’s about making decisions and seeing the results. Accept in advance that you will make mistakes, and resolve to learn from them. Perhaps the most challenging lesson of all will be finding a way to honor what is necessary and practical without being distracted by fantasy. That is part of the sorting out. And always remember, “There’s nothing you can do that can’t be undone.”

Planet Waves Monthly Horoscope for August 2022 | Go To All Signs
By Eric Francis Coppolino

Aquarius (Jan. 20-Feb. 19) — I keep forgetting about the Saturn-Uranus square — the 90-degree meeting of your two ruling planets, classical and modern. This goes back to early 2021, and include peak dates of Feb. 17, June 14, and Dec. 24. It’s challenging astrology, representing some deep tension that you’re working out, aligning your emotional reality with the rest of your existence. Yet there are great rewards if you apply a combination of discipline, integrity and flexibility — all necessities when Pluto arrives in your sign next March.

Though it’s technically over, the Saturn-Uranus square is getting a revival due to Saturn retrograde in your sign, and Mars passing through the territory. You may have the feeling that you want to explode, which would be better than imploding. Squares represent tense internal dynamics that must be expressed. The energy needs to go somewhere. And I suggest you be aware enough not to take it out on yourself.

The fundamental process when a square is taken consciously is to work one side, then the other, then the other, until you integrate the two facets and the aspect becomes a functioning part of your psyche. This square has a hot side, and a cool side. The hot side is emotional; the cool side is mental. Keep the two in a dialog.

Meanwhile, the New Moon in your opposite sign Leo represents an opening of some kind — a door that you have the option to go through, if you want to. It may represent the offer of an agreement or contract. If that is true, make sure that both parties are fully able and willing to fulfill their commitments. That is your signal to proceed.

Planet Waves Monthly Horoscope for July 2022 | Go To All Signs
by Eric Francis Coppolino

Aquarius (Jan. 20-Feb. 19) — One way or another, you’ll have to make friends with the chaos of our times. You prefer order, organization and predictability, but no such qualities are on offer from the world as we currently know it. Tradition served a purpose, and it still does, though the message of our times is to go deep underneath the layers of the civilized mind and connect with the one soul that we are all part of.

Meanwhile, the aspect of your mind that lives in the world, and communicates and does business, is practically exploding with ideas, and the drive to create something entirely new, and necessary. If you want to harness some of this energy, you’ll need to apply some discipline, or inventiveness: the relationship between sunlight and a greenhouse, or the wind and a sailboat. The part of you that wants to fly off in every direction at once will feel good under the modest guidance of a job to do or a task to fulfill. While some element of this must be about you doing your thing your way, Saturn in your birth sign is emphasizing the need to integrate your efforts into those of other people. Make sure you know the difference, so that you can act in a way that is suited to the task at hand. There are times when applying your talent allows you to stay awake and interested when you must work in a routine way.

At other times, you will need to apply your fire and illumination to a specific need. Keep your eyes and mind open for where and when that might be. In our time, we live not with paucity but with an abundance of energy, ideas and resources that tend to go to waste. Be happy when you discover that someone or something needs what you have to offer.

Planet Waves Monthly Horoscope for June 2022 | Go To All Signs
by Eric Francis Coppolino

Aquarius (Jan. 20-Feb. 19) —  Saturn is the only major planet or asteroid remaining in Aquarius, which will allow you to focus on this transformational influence in your life. While the timespan on this transit is loosely March 2020 to March 2023, these final months are a crucial time for you to master the teachings of this placement. I can break this down to three topics. First and in our time most important: how you relate as an individual in group environments. As you have no doubt observed, people tend to give themselves over to “the collective.” To parse this out, I suggest you set aside any such concept, and conduct all of your relationships one-to-one with your fellow individual humans. Any sense of a group or group dynamic must come second to your personal connections. The group may have a “mind.” It is your job to subvert it by establishing how groups are comprised of individuals. Second, closely related, all collaboration and cooperation comes from individuals who make decisions to lend themselves to any task or purpose. Third, you need an organizing principle for your life, which manifests internally, then extends outward into your environment. This is your point of crystallization. While many purposes can serve (such as eating Big Macs every day for 50 years), stick to what you know is your personal dharma. That means living the truth of your purpose, and acting as if to hold the world together. If you can only manage one of these, do your best — always keeping the other factor in mind. There is often a puzzle to solve here, and most people are too lazy to care, or to figure it out. But they know nothing of Saturn in Aquarius.

Planet Waves Weekly for April 28, 2022 | Go To All Signs
By Eric Francis Coppolino

Aquarius (Jan. 20-Feb. 19) — You are about to start experiencing fresh ideas. And those ideas may actually go someplace, or take you someplace. This development will arrive after a time when you may have wondered whether your ideas had any worth, or whether you were intelligent enough to face the challenges of life. I am not suggesting you “thought yourself dumb,” though the doubts described by Chiron in the 3rd house can certainly take people that far. More likely, your doubts were the nagging kind, the kind you might not notice, until they catch up with you in a particular situation. I suggest you withhold judgment about your ideas, and just work with them. Let time be the test of whether they are useful or not. And as any seasoned artist or writer will tell you, and as you probably well know, one idea begets another. Just keep some coherence to your process; stay close to your central theme or concept, even as you discover it.

Planet Waves Monthly Horoscope for May 2022 | Go To All Signs
by Eric Francis Coppolino

Aquarius (Jan. 20-Feb. 19) —  Jupiter’s ingress into Aries will be highly supportive of your efforts to do business, particularly locally — and to deepen your involvement with your community. While it is true that Aquarius is the sign of groups, what makes you dependably and persistently social is the presence of Aries in your 3rd solar house. You identify with the human activity around you, whether it’s recreational or commercial — you are keen in your understanding how closely related these are. Venus spends most of the month here, though Jupiter will be around for a year. This is your cue to make contact in person with everyone you possibly can. Pretend you’re running for mayor. Turn shopping locally into a personal religion. Be the person who knows everyone, and who can refer people to the right place. Spend cash. Leave something behind — a business card, a gift, a favor. In any ‘usual’ time in history, this is an excellent practice of Dharma — acting as if to hold the world together. In our time, you’re more like the one surviving marathon runner carrying the sacred torch, though the more apt metaphor is that you are re-weaving both your psyche and your physical reality. The real culprits in this mess are all digital, and our tendency to let it substitute for the actual gathering of humans to fraternize, trade and take care of one another. Going shopping was never so spiritual.

Planet Waves Weekly for April 15, 2022, for the Libra Full Moon| Go To All Signs
By Eric Francis Coppolino

Aquarius (Jan. 20-Feb. 19) — Mars has finally made its way into Pisces, where it will stop irritating you and start motivating you to get your financial affairs in order. First, you want to know the absolute truth about what the numbers add up to. It’s unlikely to be as bad as you may fear. Yet there’s something far more important, which is your need to understand your priorities, and connect them to your deepest values. That is to say, make up your agenda based upon what actually matters to you, and very likely has for a long, long time. We are now in the moment where there is no time to waste. There is no time for random anger, judgment or conflict. You are an Aquarius, potentially one of the most humanitarian signs (that rarely lives up to its potential). Make it so.

Planet Waves Monthly Horoscope for April 2022 — Part 2 | Go To All Signs
By Eric Francis Coppolino

Aquarius (Jan. 20-Feb. 19) — Digital technology and many concepts and experiences related to it have become the core spiritual issue of our day. That nobody seems to be calling this out is typical; for most people, there is no such thing as a ‘core spiritual issue’. But then it is fair to wonder if digital could possibly be one: what has Netflix got to do with your personal evolution? What about Facebook changing its name to Meta? How could this be personal? What about using your phone for everything? Those, and about a hundred other ‘what abouts’, add up to the way that humanity and each individual person has been transformed to the point where they take on characteristics of computers, want to merge with computers, or imagine that they are some sort of artificial intelligence device. This behavior can be sly: thinking in algorithms, or a series of if/then statements that proceed steadily to an absurd conclusion that goes unnoticed. It includes someone sending a Venmo invoice to their friends after they had dinner at their home, and much that would have been called obnoxious even 10 years ago. Humans have the tendency to become like their tools, many examples exist: for instance, thinking people (yourself, others, etc.) should act like an app and deliver instant results. Any time you are expected (or expect yourself) to have no feelings, you’ve been digitized. This is not actually who you are, though it is being imposed upon you. And you have some decisions to make, all of which will be based upon who and what you think you are. Consider that all of this digital obsession is an artificial contrivance, and it’s being imposed on us with enormous pressure, speed and duress — always for the gain of others. You have deeper, more humane values than any of this. Make contact with them (meaning with yourself) now while you can, and stay in contact every hour of every day. May your mantra be: I am human.

Planet Waves Monthly Horoscope for April 2022 | Go To All Signs
by Eric Francis Coppolino

Aquarius (Jan. 20-Feb. 19) — Through late March and into early April, a series of planets make conjunctions to Saturn in your sign. This is the perfect setup for a mental rollercoaster that you may already be experiencing. It will help immensely if you can guide your attention to a deeper level of awareness, and tap into your spiritual nature and healing abilities. You have access to these areas of your consciousness, though they possess a quality different from what is currently dominating the world, and that quality is silence. Moreover, you need to allow yourself to be guided by your inner sensibilities rather than by image or appearance. Even if you think you usually take this approach, it’s not the one that is supported or welcomed by the current digitally-driven world. We have all been thrust into a kind of marketplace that is imposing a public-relations approach to everything. Words and images have been reduced to commodities, and as such, nearly all expressions carry a commercial inflection. We are at a stage where every form of communication can be considered a form of advertising. Stranger yet is nearly everyone thinks this is fine. Sometimes for fun I ask people if they remember before YouTube had ads, and so far, I cannot find anyone who does. Activity in your adjoining sign Pisces is encouraging you to subvert all of this through a modest, quiet approach to life, and to offering what you do. Honoring the values of generosity, empathy and friendship are the ones to encourage. The spirit I am describing is that of taking care of an abandoned cat or dog. The purpose of doing so is never for profit, gain or even paying your way. Your true purpose is to help any critter who needs your kindness, love and attention.

Special Edition for New Moon — March 3, 2022

Aquarius (Jan. 20-Feb. 19) — How do you determine that something you knew previously is incorrect? And when you discover that, what do you do? Being a thoughtful person is not so stylish these days. In fact, it’s never been more chic to pretend you know absolutely nothing and cannot possibly rub two brain cells together, much less get a little spark. While some have figured out and indeed thrive on the deceptive power of playing dumb, this not only contradicts your long-held self-image, it’s entirely asinine. And as a social force, it has spread through the entire society. I’m waiting to turn on the TV and see a public service announcement for why it’s a great idea to drive drunk or even better, to leave dangerous medicine where children can find it. Though few have given it a name, what we are contending with is the effect of robotics. That means thinking in binary, and worse yet, using what journalist Celia Farber calls algorithmic morals. Please, challenge yourself to be an ordinary analog human no matter what all those cyborgs are trying to get you to do or think.

Planet Waves Monthly Horoscope for March 2022 | Go To All Signs
by Eric Francis Coppolino

Aquarius (Jan. 20-Feb. 19) — One by one, you are facing your fears. That is another way of saying facing the unknown. Every anxiety, unease or dread covers something else, and you want to know what that something is. So think of every fear as a lid that you can lift or pry off and find out what is going on beneath it. One clue from events developing in your neighboring sign Capricorn is that much of this subject matter involves sex and sexuality. This is your 12th house — the unconscious, the unknown, the lost and the hazy. While matters of the 12th can seem below the boards and behind the scenes, they have a way of driving what we think of as normal, everyday consciousness. Saturn now in your 1st house is putting up a kind of personality front, which is serving to obscure your deeper nature from view. Yet you perceive the world as you really are, within yourself — not as you may appear to present yourself to others. You are not your image, and it’s vital that you shed all notions that you are. Below the surface of your personality, you are a far more daring, adventurous and saucy person than you let on. Now is the time to bring the actual, true, real person within you to the front of your psyche and what you show the world. Why do this? There is power in honesty, and much energy conserved by not maintaining any kind of cover up of your inner nature. The real benefit comes from not attempting to split your character in any way. That is a waste of precious life-force energy, and whatever elements of yourself you may conceal will have a way of rising up and cause chaos due to neglect or refusal to allow them to work, play, and explore the world. You might ask yourself what negative consequences you fear. Perhaps some of them represent valid concerns. Yet at a certain point, you must take the risk of being wholly truthful about who you are, particularly with the people with whom you’re the most intimate. Now is the time when anything else may be removed as an option, in service of reality.

Planet Waves Horoscope for February 3, 2022 | Go To All Signs
By Eric Francis Coppolino

Aquarius (Jan. 20-Feb. 19) — You give a little more than you think you can, and Saturn will give you a lot. Friday morning’s once-in-a-lifetime conjunction of the Sun and Saturn at the midpoint of your sign is urging you to do the right thing for the right reasons. This means being scrupulously honest with yourself, and keeping your focus. You didn’t come here in this lifetime to have fun. You are here to serve, to participate, and to call forth your deepest humanitarian motives. That rarely means going with the crowd, or doing what everyone else is doing. In fact, if you find yourself agreeing with too many people you know, that’s a good time to question whether maybe your point of view needs a good going-over. If you’re worried about being rejected, shunned or called crazy, claim your Aquarius birthright as an ardent individualist and stand apart from the consensus view. Just because many people believe something doesn’t make it correct. The history of thought is perfectly absurd things being accepted as unquestionable, until that particular narrative falls apart. There are two other critical messages coming from your current astrology. One is to make sure to cultivate your introspective view: that is, have a relationship with your inner being. The digital world has all but eliminated our inner lives, and that is the very thing that makes us human. Potent activity in Capricorn for the next few weeks is calling you there, and should be leaving you with more questions than answers. This is astrology designed to draw you inward, without any respect to what others might think if they knew what was in your mind or your feelings. You must have total freedom to desire, need, feel, regret or crave to explore. Second, pay close attention to your motives. Seek to understand what is driving you. Be aware of how your feelings about yourself influence how you feel about everyone and everything else.

Planet Waves Monthly Horoscope for February 2022 | Go To All Signs
By Eric Francis Coppolino

Aquarius (Jan. 20-Feb. 19) — The Sun has joined quite a collection of planets and points in your sign. It is quite a gathering, in the true spirit of Aquarius. Shall I name them? Retrograde Mercury of course, which may be the focus of your attention. Then there are centaurs Chariklo and Crantor, and asteroids Astraea, Icarus, Urania, Hermes and Diana. And then there is Saturn, the classical ruler of your sign (which I am almost always chronicling; you can review nearly any recent Aquarius horoscope, particularly your TUNE IN 2022 reading). In this session, let’s consider Mercury and Chariklo. Mercury in Aquarius is the original “know when you don’t know” placement, and the retrograde suggests a review and the asking of questions. If you follow your curiosity, and you’re honest about your missing information, you will be taken on a deep inquiry as Mercury re-enters Capricorn on the 25th, and then makes a conjunction to Pluto on the 28th. This alignment of the planet of mind and that of transformation lasts through Feb. 11. This will grant you a level of understanding that may come at the cost of giving up some cherished belief, including something you may think your identity depends upon. Note that: you may be clinging to an idea that is blocking your view of reality. What that might be? How about the thing that you’re most certain of, or that you get offended when someone questions it? Mercury in this instance might represent ‘the hill that you die on’, when defending some concept, or living with it unquestioned. So that means questioning and not being afraid that any actual discovery you make will change your concept of who you are, and maybe even your experience of who you are. This, in turn, can entirely renovate how you see the world and your relationship to it. You might not like this while it’s happening; the proverbial Red Pill does not have a good name for those not committed to honesty with themselves. Then there is Chariklo, a longterm visitor to your sign (through 2028). She is about abiding love and bearing witness. These things, too, call for actual honesty. For you, there is no other way forward.

Planet Waves Monthly Horoscope for January 2022 | Go To All Signs
By Eric Francis Coppolino

Aquarius (Jan. 20-Feb. 19) —  Now is a good time to reveal your secrets to yourself. You have plenty; they are percolating around your subconscious like coffee pots working overtime at the international Mahjong championship. This may have you feeling new, unusual or resurrected forms of anxiety, or even a touch of panic. You may also be noticing that some unusual desires are rising to the top of your awareness, things you would never say and might want to quickly push back under the surface. I suggest you allow it all to bubble up into the world of waking consciousness. Further, I suggest you treat your thoughts and feelings — no matter how seemingly strange, challenging or inappropriate — as if they are a kind of personal sacred text. Pay particular attention to all that is not ‘nice’ but is rather strange, transgressive, seedy or disturbing. You won’t have many opportunities like this to get a look at what is going on deep inside you. Unusual astrology now unfolding through early March is making your deepest thoughts accessible. Each contains a message for you, or raises a question. Each idea is a kind of nutrient that you need to bring up and integrate into your whole being, rather than leaving it locked down in the dungeon. If something you think, feel or say to yourself is embarrassing, pay special attention to it, and follow the feeling back toward its source. There is normally a slippery veil thrown over this whole dimension of your being, and it’s easy to glide past it and not recognize what your own deepest inner being is saying to you. Your dreams take on particular relevance now, and you might want to frame your inquiry as a dream journal or personal pillow book (I suggest you keep these records offline and in physical written form, to give yourself some sense of privacy). This discovery process is going to help you change your priorities, come out of denial, and help you focus on what is genuinely important to you.
