Philosophy of Astrology
Astrology is all about “knowing things,” though it rarely faces what is called the epistemology problem: How do astrologers know what they think they know? The discussion of astrological matters is rife with assumptions and generalizations, and rarely gets to the bottom of the matter: astrology is a product of consciousness. This pre-recorded class is the prerequisite for other classes going forward. I will take you from the philosophy of the Greek astrologers to the 17th century revival to the 19th century revival, into humanistic astrology, psychological astrology other contemporary approaches. This is a broad survey class that will teach you how to ask one question, mainly: how do I know this? Special guest appearance by Andrew McLuhan, discussing The Circular Language.
How to Read Your Own Chart
What is the best approach to reading your chart? Whether you are staying for curiosity or self-actualization, this class will help you learn how to work with your own astrology (and not have it come with spiritual setbacks). Where do you start reading your chart? What gets priority over something else? What if you find things you don’t like? How do you work with what you don’t understand? I will bring the passion and beginners mind of a spiritual seeker and the wisdom of working with people for 25 years. Companion class is The Philosophy of Astrology, which covers the topic of what astrology is and why it tells us anything.
Meet the Planets – Part 1
This is an introduction to the classical planets used in astrology: the Moon, the Sun, Mercury, Venus, Mars, Jupiter and Saturn. We will see the structure these fit within and learn to use the Table of Essential Dignities. I will also cover the modern planets Uranus, Neptune and Pluto.
Meet the Planets – Part 2
This is an introduction to the minor planets, starting with Ceres, Chiron and Eris. We will take a survey of the various classes of planets: classical, modern, centaurs, asteroids, Kuiper objects, scattered disk objects, damocloids, hypotheticals and others. We will learn how to use the minor planet ephemeris and the Chiron ephemeris.
Chiron and the Healing Journey
With the blessings of my friend and colleague, Chiron master Melanie Reinhart, we are offering this class based in part on her work, and what I learned developing her ideas. We will provide a collection of my written materials on Chiron. Highly recommended are Melanie’s books Chiron and the Healing Journey, and my personal favorite, To the Edge and Beyond. Review of my prior Chiron classes is strongly recommended.
Following one’s lifetime Chiron transits has a way of opening up the natal chart like few other methods. In this class, which originated at the Omega Institute, we will learn how to select transits, eye the chart, and interview the client, and learn what to do with the information.
