Change of Weather
Dear Friend and Reader:
The planet is still vibrating with the effects of Wednesday’s total solar eclipse, the first truly dramatic eclipse visible from Europe since Aug. 11, 1999. If you were following the internet you were treated to all kinds of dramatic images; it was a big one and people traveled from all over the world to see it.
The path of totality crossed Greenland, Iceland, northern Russia, northern Spain, a small corner of Portugal, and parts of the Atlantic Ocean.
In Christian Astrology, the first astrology book ever written in English, William Lilly said that if there has not been a solar eclipse in Leo for a while, there will be a change in the weather. This would take us back to a partial eclipse of the Sun in Leo, in 2018, but more notably, the Great American Eclipse that crossed the United States, coast-to-coast, on Aug. 21, 2017. And these Leo eclipses indeed indicated a change of climate — in particular, the psychic climate.
The United States went from men chanting “Her body, her choice!” in January 2017 to society pretending that all men are potential rapists in October 2017. How was that magic accomplished? Lawyers, publicists and Operation Mockingbird! But they succeeded in exploiting preexisting conditions and there was a massive change of conditions, at least in the United States. This was, of course, the first year of the Trump administration.

So What is the Change of Climate?
At least here in the U.S., people are putting a happy face on a generally morose mood. Economic conditions are feeding it, but mostly this is about people emotionally and socially parched by overexposure to digital conditions — and the “consumption” of toxic, vapid content.
We have fully blossomed into the nation of “bowling alone,” a concept that was an early description of social conditions back in the proto-digital age. By every indicator (from data to personal experience), people are more lonely, isolated, robotic, and anti-social than ever; staying home, hanging out less, dating less, marrying less, having less sex and more obsessed with TikTok.
To my senses, this has created a world that feels like a replica of the original, only with holographic humans seeming to roam around. And then occasionally, I meet a real person. Usually they’re a farmer.
So what would it mean for this climate to change? I continue to study every viewpoint on the “generative pretrained transformer” and “large language model” issue (A.I.) and I can see that we have gone into the phase of people sizing up the consequences without understanding them.
Will that change? Will that shift? And if so, in what direction?
The Mars-Ceres Conjunction on the Aries Point
One last item. During the eclipse, there was a conjunction of Mars and Ceres in the first degree of Cancer, activating the Aries Point. Whatever happens on or near the Aries Point talks about widespread personal implications. I described this conjunction as evocative of a food security issue (Mars, Ceres, Cancer) but I missed the obvious — warfare.
Per a report in The New York Times, the Russia-Ukraine war has now spread to Russia striking Ukrainian cargo vessels full of grain. The attacks on cargo vessels in both that war and the Iran situation is confirmed by the reliable, nonpolitical What’s Going On with Shipping YouTube channel.
The Ukrainians have also been doing the same thing to Russian tankers leaving Crimea. Additionally, flow of fertilizer out of West Asia has been severely disrupted due to the blocking of Hormuz.
Further, in February 2023, BASF (a unit of the former I.G. Farben) permanently shut down an ammonia production unit and associated fertilizer facilities at its main Ludwigshafen plant in Germany due to high natural gas and energy prices. This will have further impact on food costs and food security.
What amazes me the most is the lack of focus around these issues. It’s all happening in plain sight, yet it seems like nobody knows and nobody cares.

Today is horoscope 1,614. Detailed readings for your Sun, Moon and Rising Sign.
Aries (March 20-April 19) — Your emotions are likely to be untrustworthy now, so don’t assume that you’re right just because you feel something. Feeling is different from knowledge, insight or understanding. Emotion is even less accurate and you may be experiencing plenty of that. So stick to what you know and can document, and don’t be so sure about it. You can afford to be less sure; deep down you’re not so confident, and embracing uncertainty will feel good. In matters of love, express your care for others in tangible ways and allow some uncertainty in how they might feel about you. Your conduct, your example and what you offer matters more than anything.

Taurus (April 19-May 20) — Your ruling planet Venus is making an opposition to Neptune, making it unclear whether love is real. Well, love is real but the actual question is whether what you’re feeling is that thing; or what others are feeling is that thing. I’m not declaring it one way or the other, just suggesting that you would be wise to consider the possibilities. Love withstands the test of time, and the test of duress. There is neither contempt nor resentment. And where issues emerge, there is the instinct for compassion and the necessity to abide and not abandon. Where do you stand on these matters? Consider that the true test of love is whether you want to cook food for someone.

Gemini (May 20-June 21) — You are learning to put boundaries around your energy, one of the most important lessons of this lifetime. You are also learning how to specialize, which is a form of boundary. A helpful guiding principle would be to do the things that only you can do, and delegate everything else. It would also be helpful to delegate those tasks to someone better at them than you are. If not, your other option is to find someone willing to learn. Meantime, continue to pay attention to the difference between figure and ground. The thing you can see is the figure, probably irrelevant; everything else, such as what you don’t usually notice, is the ground. That’s where the action is.

Cancer (June 21-July 22) — With Mars and Ceres now in your birth sign, place your emphasis on food. Work with it as a source of wellness and nourishment today. Avoid what you know aggravates you, as in eliminate it completely, since you’re susceptible to toxic insults at the moment, including emotional. Pay attention to how what you eat makes you feel. There is also a historic question: when you were a child, did your mother offer you food with love, with care, with resentment, or indifference? Were you fed the right food for your needs and your body? Think about this carefully; it has influenced all of your values about food today.

Leo (July 22-Aug. 23) — The planet is still vibrating with the effects of Wednesday’s total solar eclipse in your sign. How are you feeling? Have you discovered that you have two approaches to growth: one of which is obsession, and the other of which is to follow gentle guidance? You are under guidance to not allow groups of people to persuade or bully you. You don’t have to resist, only refuse. It’s all good if you do your thing and they do their thing. Yet compulsion is a factor, and it’s easier to fall for than the gentle invitation to growth and wholeness. So you will need to decide for yourself what you want — based on what you think is available. Then you’ll need to stick to your choice.

Virgo (Aug. 23-Sep. 22) — Wednesday’s total eclipse may have let off some psychic pressure or churned up your deepest fears — maybe both at the same time. However, you’re still under considerable social pressure that you may not understand. If you’re out for dinner and someone suggests that you pay for the whole table, maybe suggest something else. Generally, you must be cautious in situations involving financial transactions, as others lack your generosity and integrity. Subject everything to a review of the facts and figures, and make sure you get the same total if you run the numbers in both directions, up the column and down. Don’t pay a credit card bill without reading the statement. Maintain a spiritual rather than progressional focus.

Libra (Sep. 22-Oct. 23) — Your ruling planet Venus is running a gauntlet for the next week or two, but don’t let anyone intimidate you. Stand your full stature and make sure you go out of the house looking good and ready for adventure. Then, make a point of believing nothing. You don’t need to let on, but you must scrutinize the claims of others, and go deeper and figure out what their agenda is. This is not easy and it may require an in-person meeting or a few conversations — email is too inscrutable to be worth much, though at the moment words count. Do everything in your power to be diplomatic and not seem overbearing; you have that skill and must utilize it now for the good of all concerned.

Scorpio (Oct. 23-Nov. 22) — You may be consumed by a spiritual hunger that you don’t understand. It seems to come and go, and you might feel if you ignore it, it won’t be so bad. What you’re feeling now is describing something real, and you would be wise to act on it. The nature of your craving is maternal. Nearly everyone alive today was raised under motherhood that was degraded and politicized by various special interest movements that were prominent from the 1950s to the present. They have left us lacking the nourishment instinct to take care of others. In fact the whole matter of caring is often laced with resentment. It’s time to set that aside, take care of yourself and take care of others, as a matter of daily devotion.

Sagittarius (Nov. 22-Dec. 22) — We live in a world where everything is allegedly “all about me.” The internet has become a wildfire of the vanities. Trillion-dollar chatbots exist to stoke people’s egos. Relationships have been turned into crude marketplaces. Dating apps can alter your appearance so you can sell yourself to the highest bidder. The message of the planets to you is: cast these things out of your life. Make the world a better place by allowing your existence to be in service of the needs of others. You’re excellent at serving yourself; it seems like the natural thing to do. Perhaps so; and in our era, offering your time, knowledge and resources to others can seem like giving away the profits. Yes, that’s exactly what it is. What did you think the profits were for?

Capricorn (Dec. 22-Jan. 20) — There may be someone around you acting strangely. You may not understand their needs, and their desires may seem even more odd. You might even wonder if they’re being dramatic, or honest. Or you might wonder if they’re talking about the right thing. The issue goes much deeper than surface appearances. You won’t be able to convince them to talk about their situation because they may not understand what’s going on. And it’s not your place to tell them. The best you can offer is to give someone you care about space to work out their own rather complicated situation, which goes back to their early upbringing. But you would be wise to see how a similar issue affects you, because it affects everyone.

Aquarius (Jan. 20-Feb. 19) — This week’s solar eclipse in your relationship sign Leo is providing you with much vital information about your environment. Pay attention. You are getting a look at who and what is behind the curtains and the scrims and off to the side of the stage. You knew there was a lot going on, but now you can sense just what that is. It may be annoying that certain people have been bluffing, holding back, or holding out — but you’ll be in a much more influential position as you start to assemble the puzzle. There may not be much you can do to change anyone, though you can see who you want to work (and play) with and who you do not. Make sure that’s a conscious choice based on real criteria.

Pisces (Feb. 19-March 20) — This is the time to set your work patterns in order and dive into new approaches to what you do. It is time to expand, both your visions and your methods. You will only benefit from this, and the bolder you are, the better you will do. But Wednesday’s eclipse is saying that you will need to let go of some old ideas and outdated plans to get the maximum efficiency from your efforts. Make room because big ideas are coming in, and nothing is too ambitious. Just remember one thing: when you choose what to do, pick something you love, because when you succeed you’re going to be doing a lot of it.
