Imminent Eclipse of the Moon in Pisces
Dear Friends Near and Far:
We are about to experience an eclipse of the Moon in the last sign, Pisces: the ocean that refuses no river. It calls attention to the oceans, which are overheating. The eclipse describes a need for cooling and also clearing the emotional environment.
The eclipse happens overnight Thursday to Friday, at around midnight Eastern Time, and will be visible anywhere you can see the Moon.
This is the last eclipse of any kind in Pisces until March 20, 2034, and the last lunar eclipse in Pisces until Sept. 19, 2043. That makes it special.
But how? There are both public and private matters at hand, and the place where they intersect. The individual/collective intersection known as the Aries Point has a mathematical hot spot at about 7 degrees of the mutable signs, close to where this eclipse occurs. It is an Aries Point event, just like something in the middle fixed signs.
I’ve suggested that this eclipse looks like an event that could precipitate the current oversaturated or rather supersaturated conditions of our era.
I have addressed my interpretation of the eclipse individually in last week’s weekly horoscope and for many signs, this week’s monthly horoscope (below). There is a lot to say and it does not lend itself to tidy interpretation. However, the fact that this eclipse aspects all of the outer planets and many of the Uranian points is worth taking note of.
Taken in a personal sense, it’s about embracing a broader and more interesting view of your own existence, as it exactly opposes the extremely myopic hypothetical point Transpluto.
The current horoscope is a major work and will stand up to many readings; it has taken days to write and years to prepare for.
I will have more detailed interpretation of the eclipse in the Starcast included with this week’s publication. I have also included a video which gives detailed visuals.
If you want the benefits of astrology, you must proceed thoughtfully and allow it to evoke your own answers from deep within yourself. Such is the nature of Pisces.
With love,
Your faithful astrologer,

Today is horoscope 1,616. Detailed readings for your Sun, Moon and Rising Sign.
Aries (March 20-April 19) —There is an expression attributed to Anaïs Nin (1903-1977) that says, “We don’t see things as they are. We see things as we are.” (This was inscribed on the storefront window of my photo studio, in a project devoted to the study of reflections.) I have wrestled with this one many times and many ways. A Course in Miracles offers a similar idea: projection makes perception. In other words, we see our thoughts and feelings projected onto the world and we take that for reality. Then there is the experience of being trapped in one’s own beliefs, and observing that when those change, reality changes with them. You need to notice this happen only once before you start to understand the power of belief — which is mostly to deceive. When you hear yourself say the word “believe,” train yourself to get a chill and stop where you stand. Ask what that belief conceals. Ask where it came from. It’s possible to train what one might call true perception, and this requires a degree of self-awareness you will need as the next month or so unfolds. It’s crucial to remember at all times that we live in a hall of mirrors known as the digital environment. It’s easy to forget; it’s easy to get lost; it’s easy to slip into ungrounded belief. And it is essential that you not do so. With Mars so active in your chart, it will be easy to go into an emotionally reactive state, and you must be vigilant against this as well through the month — but especially around the Full Moon on the 26th. Pace yourself and avoid needless conflict. There will be significant profit in restraint, and will be worth the difficulty and challenges in attaining it.

Taurus (April 19-May 20) — Notice the difference this month after Chiron retreats from Taurus back into Aries for the last time. When Chiron returns to your sign on April 14, 2027 (where it will be for about eight years), it will stand as one of a very few factors left in the feminine signs. Not ladylike; I mean the yin, watery, earthy, receptive, procreative and nourishing qualities of life. All the major sign transits of the past couple of years have been out of feminine signs (Taurus, Capricorn, Pisces and others) and into masculine signs (Gemini, Aquarius and Aries). Chiron will be on an urgent mission in the coming era, as the global crisis calls everyone close to the Earth they have alienated. You will be in personal possession of the focusing power necessary for this to happen. Chiron’s presence gives you significant responsibility; think of yourself as a world servant working locally, wherever you are. Taking care of yourself is essential — not in the solipsistic or self-serving way, but in the basic maintenance needed to fulfill the essential roles you will be called to play. These must be handled with humility and sincerity. Chiron leads from behind rather than being out front. Foundational to your process is understanding the difference between masculine and feminine, a distinction that is blurred or blotted out by digital exposure and its frenetic state of mind and body. I could say more, but space does not permit. What sums up everything is simply this: you must learn to discern when you’re being honest with yourself and when you are not. Make no assumptions, including that the answer to this is simple.

Gemini (May 20-June 21) — Life under the influence of “social media” and now make-believe digital people has reduced planetary consciousness to a junior high schoolyard on a bad day. The bullies have crawled out from under their rocks and are sunning themselves when they’re not hassling the rest of us; the tribes are getting more tribal. Many people somehow think that a string of libelous expletives, the unboxing of 100 Gucci pocketbooks or a mansion rented by the hour equals…credibility. As we enter the thick of this crisis — we have not seen the worst of it yet — you are uniquely suited to have something extraordinarily rare: environmental awareness. The recent arrival of Sedna in your sign (lasting another 50 years or so) describes you as being able to sense the invisible, like raptors sense the thermal air columns that power their flight. You may have hearing more perceptive than that of a dog. And like a cat, you can experience your own presence on the subtle planes. These are not tricks; they are your most important sources of input. You have seen how tricky the social realm is, and how people can conceal their true identity while claiming the best intentions. This has nothing to do with anyone’s appearances and everything to do with the feeling in your body that tells you when you’re in danger and when you are in good company. This will require experiments (which have already begun, and you have the results). You will need to set aside your idealism and recognize a concealed sales pitch when you see it. The essential lesson is that you learn how to tune in deeply enough, and for long enough, to trust yourself.

Cancer (June 21-July 22) — You continue to be confronted by circumstances that are outside of your control but not your ability to maneuver. Yet it’s critical that you see two things. One is how directly they source into your childhood and family imprinting, which established your worldview. To this end: you may have analyzed your parents to death and gotten nowhere; but have you sized up the psyche of each of your grandparents? What, exactly, was it about each of them? This will take some thought, and going beyond family mythology and propaganda. See if you can find representatives of these people in some form in your current life; and look for the imprints of other relatives in the people around you — particularly the truly helpful ones. Second is being clear with yourself about what you want from your time on Earth. It’s never too late to start. This will invariably involve your sense of mission. For Cancer, what you do is integrally connected to who you are. Others may be able to dodge this; they may be able to build their career on motives like earning a living or seeming important. You do not have this false luxury. But you’re in an extended moment where you must believe in yourself; at the same time you must be cautious of belief in any form. For most people, belief is a casual matter. For you, let it rise to the formal definition of “conviction of the truth of a proposition or alleged fact without knowledge.” Except for one thing: you have real facts and real knowledge — about yourself. Don’t let anyone throw you off of your own scent or commitment to your truth.

Leo (July 22-Aug. 23) — The world is still vibrating like an enormous bell from the rare, mid-August eclipse of the Sun in your birth sign. The corresponding lunar eclipse in Pisces occurs/occurred on Friday, Aug. 28. This arrived with a jolt designed to get out of your own way and have some direct experience of your potential. I don’t blame anyone for having an uneasy feeling about the future. It’s the nature of your disquiet that calls for some reflection. Leo is the ultimate “look at me” sign, though you seem reluctant to have people see that you might attempt something and fail or even display imperfection. Whatever you do going forward will require both the risk of leadership and of standing alone — or at least seeming to. Speaking of which: Pluto is now rooted into Aquarius, your relationship area. This is slowly dismantling the framework within which you had your partnerships and group affiliations. Pluto represents the profound influence of the technology environment, which people are treating more or less as a passing fad or wonderful new app. The approximate sensation for Leo is something like: Where am I? Why am I here? Who am I with? The lunar eclipse of Aug. 28 will open some doors and close others, drawing back the veil on the true nature of your commitments. The question is what exactly to do if you suddenly see through certain illusions that you were maintaining. What do you do if you feel the need to have more freedom of movement in the world? The answer is: Be honest with yourself. And it is probable that those around you are having similar sentiments — and that you share common ground.

Virgo (Aug. 23-Sep. 22) — A magnificent but nearly forgotten book The Lazy Man’s Guide to Enlightenment begins with the line, “We are equal beings and the universe is our relationships with one another.” (Note, I plan to begin your 2027 annual reading with this sentence, so you will see it again soon.) For you especially, relationships are the universe — of your identity and sense of context on Earth. This is due to the location of Aries in your chart: the sign of self in the place most influenced by the presence of (and the need for) other. Context is crucial; context is meaning, and you may have some deep and possibly concealed notion that the context of other is crucial to the meaning of your existence. This question seems to exist perpetually for you. You cannot evade it, and any self-awareness finds you opening your eyes right in the midst of this scenario. Virgo-infused Chiron now returns to Aries for about six months, which will help you consolidate all that you’ve learned in the past nine years. And what a nine years it has been. Using ‘context’ as a reference point, every single one has changed. Between 2018 (when Chiron first entered Aries) and today, sense of self, and self-awareness, have been bombed into what I would call the Woke Age of hyperbolic identity politics. Let’s shift frames from personal relationships to internal state of mind. Are you feeling aggressive? When you tap your inner witness, what is your mind’s relationship to violence? How do you feel when you witness people having their reputations destroyed? If you feel empathy and want it to stop, you’re doing well. (I continue this discussion in your extended Virgo reading).

Libra (Sep. 22-Oct. 23) — The Aug. 28 lunar eclipse in Pisces will keep reminding you of your need to take care of yourself. I don’t mean this in the usual TikTok influencer way, with $300 bath oil. I mean it in the free-of-charge way, which is about being emotionally centered, working at a human pace and keeping the sabbath holy. Pisces is your reminder to allow your creativity to do the lifting — with ideas that it’s your mind’s job to shape into something useful and beneficial. You cannot squeeze yourself through a tight opening like frosting from a pastry bag. Rather, you must coexist with the various responsibilities you have, and emphasize the flow in workflow. Move your desk near a window and work as close to plants, cats and dogs as possible. On the 22nd/23rd, the Sun moves into your birth sign and everything will make a lot more sense. Then on the 26th, the Full Moon in Aries shines a strange light on your relationships. By strange, I mean that Neptune is involved, and its cousin Borasisi. Question everything, until you feel like you have probed into what is true and what is not and have your bearings. I advise driving with your low-beams on so that you see more than just a reflection of the fog. The beliefs of others will be especially distracting, and you may safely set them aside if they seem designed to dissuade you from your life purpose. Nobody is in a position to judge you. Nobody is in a position to tell you who you are. Your true freedom resides in your self-awareness — which is a creature in constant motion.

Scorpio (Oct. 23-Nov. 22) — We live in a disturbing time of false certainty. Every day you will meet a few experts; and every now and then you know more than they do in their field of speciality and they’re revealed as charlatans or fools. Yet you could fall prey to this state of mind yourself, and I would urge you not to. With Jupiter arching across the top of your solar chart, the trap to fall for is your own authority. This might take any number of forms, but particularly of knowledge, and pride in your knowledge. The remedy is curiosity. For every statement you make, I suggest you have a strong component of “this is the part I don’t know about, and I’m planning to find out.” With Jupiter now in Leo (and Leo on the 10th all the time) it’s difficult to have any semblance of humility. Yet that’s your only hedge against falling into a trap, or an open sidewalk grate. Look where you’re going and emphasize what you don’t know. Know when you don’t know, and make sure you know when other people don’t know — no matter how persuasive. And now I have a story for you. Your chart reminds me of some lines from Allen Ginsberg that I just love. So I looked up the lines in google to get the text right, top return was the Planet Waves Scorpio horoscope from March 2010. “This moment in your life is offering you many unique pleasures, but you’ll miss the point if you feel like you’re being pushed beyond your limits. I’m reminded of some words written by a very young Allen Ginsberg: ‘Only return of thought to / its source will complete thought. / Only return of activity / to its source will complete /activity.’ Listen to that.”

Sagittarius (Nov. 22-Dec. 22) — You have a way of living — or a mode of living — where you take on the whole planet like you have the world by the balls. Unless of course you’re paralyzed by insecurity. If the former, I suggest you tone down the “I do what I want when I want and play by my own rules” thing. You exist in an entirely different reality than you did even one year ago. The line of sight from Gemini, your opposite sign, to Sagittarius, is being confronted by the vast unknown cosmos. The usual line of sight from Sagittarius to Gemini is “look at that cute little planet!” Developments over the past year have, however, thrust you into your environment in a way that demands awareness. Your sign may contain the core of our galaxy. But you are a human being walking among the other mortals, and within our critically fragile ecosystem. Gentleness of approach is called for. So too is maintaining a wide perspective, for which you are sometimes renowned, but you know how myopic you can be. Taking Sagittarius-oriented Chiron as your guide, you need to keep four feet on the ground. Think of yourself as an animal having a human experience rather than as a spiritual being having a human experience. Upcoming Chiron in Taurus, lasting for eight years starting in April, will be about being close to the actual Earth rather than your idea about it. Also here is something to consider: in Alice Bailey’s system of Esoteric Astrology, Earth is the ruling planet of Sagittarius but is not listed as among the ‘sacred planets’. This is considered alternately strange and offensive. I would invite you to consider why it is so.

Capricorn (Dec. 22-Jan. 20) — You want the world to be a better place, but it’s not that easy to make it so. In fact it’s very difficult, and many would say it’s impossible, but then, have they tried? Have you? It’s easy to give up; and a temptation to retreat into cynicism and a defeatist attitude. I say temptation as it comes with relief from responsibility. The world has its problems, and you have yours. And your problems are more important, yes? But you know better, you’re capable of more, and you understand that giving up in any way defies your inherently social and relational nature. You’re on this planet with a commitment and a purpose. It’s not an accident that you’re here. When you look up at the night sky and you see all those stars and galaxies and galaxy clusters, you might ask yourself how, exactly, you ended up on Earth right now at this time. How is closely related to why, since if the odds mean anything, you don’t belong here, and then you had to be the winning sperm cell out of 300 million. You’re likely to be feeling the burden of the past, related to your family — which you can see on a global scale. You know that the world is locked in a drama that verges every day on a death spiral. Ok yeah, right. A couple of things — please, get out of the house; find a haunt or a hangout or check out the bars and just see what’s happening. If you stay home too much you will languish and grow depressed. Take a trip somewhere, for fun. At least 100 miles away from where you live. And do your part every day to make the world a little more beautiful. Just a little — not a lot.

Aquarius (Jan. 20-Feb. 19) — Pluto in your sign is a bit of a loaded gun. A bit, that’s funny. You have the power. You may be a badass mofo and you want the world to know it. Then there’s that other thing where you don’t want anyone to see you, to notice you, to be too aware of your presence. That could spell trouble. You surely don’t want to challenge authority or tell your friends they’re full of shit even when you know they’re clueless. The social order must be maintained even at the cost of hiding your true talent under a ten-gallon hat. Meanwhile this Pluto in your sign thing fans out via other planets into Aries (for you, thinking and writing), Gemini (for you, risk and creativity), Virgo (contracts and mutual expectations, where you need to freakin’ relax just a wee little bit), Libra (the merging of spiritual and social), and finally lastest but not leastest, the Family Hunger Games shit show coming in via your dreams and making it impossible to meditate or fall asleep without your extended family showing up en masse. Your wacky grandma keeps appearing and telling you that you’re too fat, too skinny, too smart, too stupid, too feminine or not feminine enough. Did I miss anything? Jupiter, its rings and its 115 moons meanwhile are dangling the world in front of you like a plum. There must be more to life than holding your breath or acting like it’s been six hours since you last peed. I do my best not to give advice in this advice column, but here is what I suggest. Shake it up. Get moving. Get in the face of the world. Most of all, know when you don’t know.

Pisces (Feb. 19-March 20) — Scratch a Pisces and you’ll find a Virgo under their skin. That’s the theme of the Aug. 28 lunar eclipse in your sign, which is loaded with more Virgo than the FBI counterfeit documents fabrication bureau. You need a 1967 birth certificate from Myanmar? We got the perfect one, perfectly aged and antiqued complete with a little mildew. I’m not usually the “fake it till you make it type.” If I was, I’d be as famous as Chani Nicholas. But if I may make a suggestion, muster up all your confidence and come on strong, stronger and strongest. For a Pisces that’s still approximately seven on a scale of 10 so don’t worry. Assert thyself, enact thy plans, and cast off the personality husk that has contained you like a tight shoe. Forget your insecurities; they will fade to a dim reflection like the eclipse. Now, as regards all that Virgo. Where relationships are concerned, you must forget that the world thinks it’s one colossal H.R. department that has banned kissing within city limits. Way long ago, Paul Simon wrote these lyrics: “If you took all the girls I knew when I was single / And brought ’em all together for one night / I know they’d never match my sweet imagination / And everything looks worse in black and white.” It’s time to stoke your imagination and load your camera with Kodachrome and its deep, saturated colors and the greens of summer. Act like you have not a care in the world — and you will triumph over the concerns that you have. Most of those are emotional and not material; and to the extent that you gain control over your emotional life you will have mastery over the material. Eclipses are a time to end and to begin, and then the sky shifts into your sign of creative wealth, Libra. Stay tuned — to yourself.
