Mercury Conjunct the Sun; Venus Enters Aries

Good afternoon –

Piece by piece, we are moving through the most concentrated astrology in decades. Today’s horoscope is focused on the last quarter Moon with the Sun conjunct centaur Nessus. The current pattern is reminiscent of a setup in 2014 about which I wrote the article Mercury, Weaving the Story of Nessus.

In the Starcast above, I describe the Sun-Mercury conjunction on Saturday, March 7. This is the midpoint of the Mercury retrograde process. The next major concentration of events is focused around the Pisces New Moon on March 18, followed by the Chiron-Eris conjunction on the 19th and then the equinox and Mercury stationing direct on the 20th. So we are in a relatively calm moment, though there will be a burst of activity between the 18th and the 20th.

These Events are Personally Relevant

If you’re wondering what all this astrology says about you, I am the only astrologer to prepare detailed personal readings about it. They are in the form of the Inner Light – Inner Peace annual edition. By now you know about these. If you’re not already a customer, you’ve probably decided to give them a miss. However, if you’re wondering about what is happening in your life and the world around you, I suggest you reconsider.

These are the only readings of their kind, which bring the current events in Aries and others later in the year into a personal context that will help you settle your mind, give you context and focus your purpose.

I am also doing personal consultations this time of year.

Reach out if you want to contact me. You can reply to this email, or write to me or my colleagues at cs@planetwaves.net. I have excellent, helpful services at the Astrology Boutique, prime among them my Inner Light – Inner Peace readings.

Have fun. Pay attention.

Faithfully,

Planet Waves for March 5, 2026 — By Eric Francis

Aries (March 20-April 19) — How’s it going? If you’re reading this, I assume you’re still in your body and able to focus your mind. Those are the two basic conditions to align with as you are carried along this wildest of astrological rides. The Virgo lunar eclipse is behind you, though I wonder what you discovered earlier this week (or are still in the process of discovering). Let the momentum of change carry you through your current undoing into your rebirth. What’s happening is that you are emerging into your individual awareness, which means being awakened from the hazy, tribal mentality of the digital age. This is not easy, and people who truly find and express their inner being tend to be perceived as threats to those who want to stay asleep and hide out in the crowd. You don’t need to shoot the zombies, just don’t try to convince them of anything. That’s why they tend to bite.

Taurus (April 19-May 20) — Your home planet Venus has entered the Aries spectacular, so you may be in for a turbulent few weeks. But most of that is going to be internal twisting and turning, anxiety about family matters, and maybe a few bouts with the religious guilt you thought you got over years ago. You might try talking to someone about what you’re going through. But not anyone who is affected by your concerns or your state of mind — someone who is more objective and has no special investment in how you feel or any decision you may make. There is something in your psychic and emotional makeup that resists vulnerability. Especially now, with so much bubbling up from inside you, you might try confiding in someone you respect. You would just have to get over the notion that they might not respect you for being honest. The opposite is much more likely to be true.

Gemini (May 20-June 21) — We are now in the peak of a Mercury retrograde with so much going on that few will notice it’s happening. But you must be cautious, particularly in professional matters, as your reputation will be on the line when you’re least expecting it. Therefore, be cautious with what you say in public and in any electronic form. In private matters, be careful whom you confide in. The world is a repeating station right now, and every day there is some new ‘hot mic’ moment. Your strong suit, as ever, is your social acumen. You would be well served to keep your focus on business, and keep your eyes on ways to profit in the midst of the chaos of the world. With Jupiter turning to direct motion next week in the financial angle of your chart, legitimate opportunities abound, and your value is greater than ever.

Cancer (June 21-July 22) — Just when you forgot it was there, Jupiter in your sign turns to direct motion. This will reveal everything you’ve been missing. Internal movement will shift your perception of your surroundings. You may be convinced that potential has suddenly begun to manifest as if it was not there. It always was, and yet suddenly you’ll be able to see it. Now is the time to apply the “where preparation meets opportunity” definition of luck. Focus on preparation; be ready; get your ideas and your products in order. At the same time, look around for what you may not be noticing. Jupiter in your sign is a delegate of exotic and productive possibilities, particularly in any aspect of life involving publishing, travel, or any form of international business. So while you’re looking close-by, look at the horizon as well and notice the many things that have changed in recent months.

Leo (July 22-Aug. 23) — Aleister Crowley described The Sun tarot card (Atu XIX, associated with Aries and Leo), as describing “the sanity that brings freedom.” I have always remembered that from my early studies: when you’re sane, you’re also free. This implies seizing a measure of self-determination, which is not usually so popular, but that’s another discussion. The world seems to be going totally insane right now, and yet you can be sane, and you can be free. Events in Aries are urging you to take the long view of what is possible. You have to see past the extremely disturbing events on the planet right now and project your life past them. This is about claiming and colonizing the future, which is all but abandoned territory for most people. It must not be for you. Be bold and have a vision. Get people close to you involved. They are looking for leadership and a way out of what seems like the unmitigated angst and defeatism of our moment.

Virgo (Aug. 23-Sep. 22) — The total lunar eclipse in your sign is behind you, though it’s also shocked you to a new level of awareness about how you must live your life as an independent person. Independent does not mean abandoning anyone or anything. Rather, it means taking responsibility for your destiny as it includes the people to whom you have a commitment. What you’re really doing is choosing to not be held back by your circumstances. And at the same time it’s highly likely that you are done with certain commitments and involvements — as done as they are with you. All you need to do is be resolutely who you are. Be honest about your reality. You don’t need anyone’s permission. You don’t need anyone’s cooperation. What you seem to need rather dearly is the experience of standing uncompromisingly in your truth. Once you do, you will wonder how you ever lived any other way. And if you listen and notice, people will reveal exactly where they stand with you.

Libra (Sep. 22-Oct. 23) — You are waking up to see the world go wild. Choose your involvements carefully. While you are often at a safe distance from various mishaps and disasters, both Saturn and Venus are in your opposite sign Aries. You must be extraordinarily mindful of the space between where you end and others begin. Choose your involvements carefully. Keep some detachment and maintain your objectivity to the greatest degree that you can. There are going to be ways that the movements in the wider world and in your most intimate relationships reflect your reality; and there will be ways that they do not. The only way to tell is to use your discernment and make your choices carefully. The single most important thing you can do is to take care of yourself and attend to your personal business and your personal wellness as a full-time devotion. Let others do their thing. Show up for yourself at all times.

Scorpio (Oct. 23-Nov. 22) — Both planets associated with Scorpio, Mars and Pluto, are standing back from the current fray going on in Aries. This works in your favor, and you would best pause in pushing events and developments ahead. By the time Mars reaches the Aries Point and Neptune on April 9, enough of the smoke and smog will have cleared that you can see where you are, and have a better sense of who you are. Mars moving through Pisces may feel self-indulgent. I suggest you not waste this opportunity on partying in any form, but rather invest in your creativity, in whatever form it may take. Pisces is your friend, and yet it can easily be squandered on various shades of debauchery. Stick to what matters, and transform your idea of a good time into something that is self-creative and productive. This will change your ideas about the work that you do, a topic that will come up in a big way in April.

Sagittarius (Nov. 22-Dec. 22) — The themes of your life are running close to those of Scorpio. I won’t repeat what I said there. But all of it applies to you. However, more specifically, matters of self-development belong at the top of your priorities. You’re being pushed by a wide diversity of forces to mature, and that is a tall order in today’s mental environment. You can easily get lost in the midst of the self-indulgent, selfie-obsessed echo chamber of digital consciousness. I consider it crucial that you have reference points for where you were and how you felt in the past, particularly since 2018. It’s easy to give yourself a pass for how you’ve treated people, and to have a distorted view of how they have treated you. If you’re struggling right now, you might look at those topics. And if you’re doing well, that too is an invitation to look carefully at your expectations of the people in your world right now.

Capricorn (Dec. 22-Jan. 20) — Pay close attention to what is happening within your own four walls as well as your emotional body. This is where the turbulence and rare developments in Aries are most likely to manifest. And it’s where you can do the most for yourself and anyone who is relying on you for safety, security or protection. Make sure that the people around you are fed. Take care of the animals in your home and those that might come near it. The conditions on the planet now are demanding that you be your most mature, grounded and focused self. You are not doing this just for you. You are a pillar of the community and a safe haven for the people around you. There are things that you don’t want to do, or are not capable of doing, but that others are. Think of this as a collaboration where everyone offers what they can.

Aquarius (Jan. 20-Feb. 19) — Pluto is offering you a sense of meaning, purpose and an organizing principle for what you do every day. The primary message of this complicated and meaningful planet in your sign is to stand on your own and not succumb to the tribal nonsense that the world is dishing out on untold thousands of channels. This does not mean being contrarian; that is the bane of Aquarius. It does not mean being selfish. Rather, you are being called to maintain your priorities and to help people around you honor theirs. Pluto is an evolutionary driver. But in Aquarius, it can lead to extreme tribal behavior, groups that dominate individuals, and various extremes of not knowing when you don’t know. You are holding explosive power in your hands. That can also be a profound influence for growth, self-awareness and honoring the truth that we’re all in this together. Unless, of course if you say we are not. Which is it?

Pisces (Feb. 19-March 20) — Keep calm and carry on. While that is not an original turn of phrase, it would be an original thing to do in this moment of chaos, confusion and despair. With Mercury retrograde in your sign, now is not the time to come to any final determinations about yourself or anything for that matter. For you, the direction of travel is mostly inward. But your ruling planet Jupiter turning to direct motion next week will give you a much better sense of your possibilities, and open up your creative flow. This will allow you to find solutions to problems that have been irritating you for the past five months as well as enter new territory. Human creativity is the most vital resource in the world right now, and it always is for you. Make sure that is your first go-to if you have any unmet needs or desires. Keep a close eye not only on your money but on potential new sources of income.
