New Beginning Video Reading – Taurus in Motion, 2026-27

Taurus Extended Sign Description — May 2026

by Eric Francis with additional writing by Elizabeth Shepherd

Taurus (April 20-May 19) — OH HOW YOU LOVE bubble baths and chocolate bonbons. Even legendary quarterback Neal Stabler of the now defunct Continental Football League (COFL) was renowned for his custom bathroom spa, with a two-inch thick removable (for hygiene) pile rug in his modest home that he lived in for 24 years. In addition to being a renowned footballer, he was also a master confectioner, gardener, and collector of antique wooden radios.

The 2nd sign of the zodiac: Taurus.

And there you have the true essence of Taurus. Or one of the true essences. There is a persistent quality to your sign, which is the only Fixed Earth Sign — the one that depends on, and embodies, stability. There are many factors present in any chart; many attributes conferred by factors other than the Sun sign. Yet in Taurus, the Sun offers a kind of stalwart and enduring quality to who you are and what you do.
This does not always work for you. It is easy to get stuck, in a place, in a relationship, in an ideology, or in an emotional framework.
The fixed nature of Taurus has been under much stress the past seven years as Uranus, the planet of upheaval and revolution, has moved through your territory. In many ways this is the ultimate astrological contradiction. This has made it difficult to groom your image, hold your center and find solace in the past, as you so often prefer to do. Yet it has connected you to something essential in your inner nature.

The Inner and the Outer

Calm, collected and attractive on the outside, raging like a tempest on the inside, Taurus is the blacksmith shop of the soul. If you’re a Taurus, you’ve incarnated at this time for the purpose of being shaped and tempered.

Just be sure you go gently on yourself during the tempering process. And remember that such deep working out should be harnessed in the form of creative energy as well as sensuality. You need both.

Your sign is associated with the planet Venus, which is bright, beautiful and has an atmosphere of ammonia cooking at 900 degrees centigrade. It’s healthy to let some of that fire and passion out into the open. Taurus is a sign of the earth element, and is also a fixed sign, coming in the middle or peak of a season — which happens to be the season of Beltane, the pagan celebration of sex.

Your erotic nature is more promiscuous than you may want to admit, however, you also have a strong drive to bond with others. You must find a balance between the two. To learn more about yourself, look up the sign of your Venus as well as your Moon, two elements in your chart closely associated with Taurus.

Scorpio is your opposite sign — your 7th solar house that describes your partners and relationships. The traditional ruler of Scorpio is Mars. It is the thing you seek the most to relate to, being such a tactile person with such a spectrum of emotional desires and needs. Yet given the placement of Aries, also ruled by Mars, in your 12th house by whole signs, you may have a character trait of getting uneasy when people get to know you too well.

Venus Retrograde in Scorpio to Libra

This autumn, when Venus turns retrograde in Scorpio, there will be a once-every-eight-years kind of opportunity to look at these seeming contradictions and potential drama triangle between your erotic nature, desire for deep-bonding with others and the discomfort that intimacy can bring.

This can be a laboratory of sorts when it’s possible for all sorts of past loves, close friends and partners to make a reappearance — either in your thoughts and dreams or even on the physical plane. They show up to help you to evaluate the past experience from your current and changed perspective and begin to recognize in what way your relationships really are an expression of yourself and your orientation to existence. They may show up to remind you about things that have felt too uncomfortable to say.

For the fixed nature of Taurus, this is ground for creative innovation in places that can tend to get stuck. While challenging, it’s best to flow with the slow downs and reversals and notice which spaces open up, either in your relationships or how you orient yourself to and perceive existence.  Scorpio can look like a demanding and undesirable place to Taurus, is it really? You may feel some discomfort around questions that come up about intimacy, communication and invitations to deep change. These are ripe opportunities for self-observation.

Remember that confidence and digging in your heels are two entirely different things. You must handle your possessive nature carefully so as not to alienate others, and remember that as much as you might like to be ‘taken possession of’, this doesn’t really work for you. At a certain point you will need your independence and Venus retrograde in Scorpio will be there to remind you.

Venus will station retrograde in the first days of October and retrograde back to Libra, the other sign associated with Venus and the 6th place of Taurus, with its themes of work, daily habits and wellbeing. This placement of Libra here suggests that beauty, harmony, enjoyment, collaboration and clear agreements around exchange in your everyday surroundings and routines will generate greater wellbeing, relaxation and satisfaction. Allowing Venus its expression in these places can create the background environment and inspiration for your closest one-on-one partnerships, inviting greater harmony and closeness due to your own increased comfort and satisfaction.

Retrogrades are about review and reconsideration. Some of the themes mentioned may slow down and others may reverse. This is all part of the plan, and provides the necessary clean out and review so something new can grow in these areas over the next eight years.

Speaking of the Temptation to Dig in Your Heels

While you’re famous for your supposed stubbornness, few understand that you’re trying to work out your inner complexities and don’t want to make a move or a decision until you feel you’re all sorted out. But there is always more to sort, and at a certain point you have to go with the experiment of living.

In an era of unprecedented change, maybe it’s helpful to acknowledge that change is challenging for you. It’s easier if you think it’s your idea, so make sure you keep coming up with new possibilities to keep yourself on the move. And speaking of ideas, change is indeed easier if you are connected to your creative process. You might need to finally move because you want to do something with your space.

Not enough room for an art space, yoga area, recording studio or practice room in your house? It’s finally time to go somewhere bigger.

If home is indeed something you’re interested in this year, you will have help when Jupiter moves into Leo, the sign in the 4th house of home, ancestors and belonging in the Taurus chart. Home is akin to a kingdom for Taurus and one of the most important places for self-expression. This year is the perfect time for looking at how your ideas about home and tribe, or how your physical home itself could be ready to expand.

Not Just Any Other Year and the Scepter in Your Chart

Jupiter shines a bright light at the base of your chart for an entire year, starting June 30, which leads right into the foundation of your existence. You may discover not just ancestral patterns that are ready to be disrupted, but also some that are worth salvaging from the garbage heap, polishing up and creating a place of honor for. Through this process, you may find a deeper and stronger relationship with your origins that can guide you to a sweet harmony between self-responsibility and belonging.

The fixed cross (Taurus, Leo, Scorpio and Aquarius) continues to be in the forefront this year with Pluto fully occupying Aquarius, your 10th house of career, reputation and vocation. Most of the big astrology news is about Aries, Gemini, and Aquarius, and Pluto in Aquarius reinforces the focus on the angles of your chart, which indicates that this is a very important year for Taurus, especially since Venus plays such a pivotal role.

Pluto in your 10th house at its most essential represents the opportunity to take leadership over your life and set an example to others about how to do so. When Jupiter enters Leo and opposes Pluto in July, the themes of family may come front and center for you. This looks like the activation of an influential axis of power, like the scepter of a king or queen, and with this, you can choose the way you extend your influence through all your relations. The first step is to acknowledge the great influence you have, which is true for Taurus all the time, but especially during these transits. Jupiter’s opposition to Pluto will be brief, but it will be in Leo for a year. Pluto will be in Aquarius until the 2040s. So one step at at time.

One caution about Pluto’s presence in Aquarius is that your Taurean desire and need for a humanitarian-oriented career or vocation could be twisted and misshapen, unbeknownst to you, by forces operating within the transhumanist agenda. So many authentic and good impulses intended to support our humanity and life on Earth have been co-opted by interests more in service to profit and the conglomeration of power rather than to life itself. Most of this ‘business’ has nothing to do with the human it purports to serve, indeed, these values are inherently dehumanizing. When in doubt, it is the time for discernment, discretion and returning to the immediate experience of your body. Does the proposed activity support or diminish life on Earth is a question that could become an ever-present mantra for these times.

The Source of All This Rearranging

Aries (wherever it may land in one’s chart) tells us something about our self-concept and sense of identity. You have Aries in the solar 12th house — the really mysterious house where everything has the approximate logic of a dream. Things don’t really exist in the 12th house; they waft in and out of reality. So as solid and as tangible as you may aspire to be, there is often a missing element of self and this can drive you a little nuts. It’s often like your ‘self’ is hidden in another dimension.

Mars rules this house; and Mars has a second role, as the ruler of your opposite sign, Scorpio: it’s also your relationship planet. So the planet that represents your hidden or missing self is the same planet that represents your relationships. And when you put those two together, you get boundary issues. Is this other person you’re with really your secret self? Hmmm, sometimes it seems like they are. Your inner twin can seem to double as your outer twin or relationship partner. And then where do you fit in?

I suggest that you not think of this as being about personal relationships as much as a relationship to existence. Your relationship to existence is described by Scorpio as your opposite sign. Scorpio is sending you vibes that everything you do, such as breathing, taking a bath or moving house, requires you to change. You in turn react by trying to be as stable as you can, nearly all the time. Yet at the same time, you are enticed into a continuous relationship with surrender.

There is something about your struggle to feel secure in the world that involves the sense that some vital aspect of who you are is tucked away in another dimension. You keep trying to get into that dimension, or to act from there, and yet at times you wonder whether it really exists, or it you’re chasing some dream of yourself.

You need to live in your truth, rather than living a plan or a concept. It can take a long time to make these distinctions.

Lose Yourself to Find Yourself

You actually can lose your mind, in a way, during an intense 12th house experience. There is really no such thing as the human ego in this house. Because yours is the only sign with Aries placed here in your solar chart, this suggests a kind of lost quality much of the time. It is difficult for you to initiate activity. The sign of SELF, vitally important in any chart, is your house of SELFLESS. If you ever wonder why it’s so much work for you to seize hold of your will and do something with it in a timely fashion, we really don’t need to look much further than this fact.

Aries is a challenging sign to have in the 12th house because it is the energy of self-presence, I am, ego-consciousness. To have the energy of self in this parallel universe kind of gives the feeling that you are in a different room all the time.

You have your identity, but deeper in there’s this other identity that you can’t normally get into. There’s not really a way into that that doesn’t involve some kind of access point to the 12th house. It can drive the classically Taurean impulse to fantasy, driving a rich inner world.

Now with Saturn, Neptune, Chiron and Eris in Aries most of this next year, this looks like the deepest of reviews and renovations of your inner being, but also the generation of more points of access and ways of engaging with this mysterious part of you than ever.

If you are in touch with your dreams, notice how they come through and what they say. The creative potential of Saturn and Neptune may easily come through the dream world and show you how their resources can be used. Saturn and Neptune together indicate the creation of something new. Saturn prefers the practical, disciplined and concrete and Neptune responds to inspiration and vision. Sometimes through engaging in the most practical of activities on a regular basis, the vision will come suddenly, or late at night or in the early morning hours when the tired body is resting and waking consciousness has let its guard down.

Eris has been a destabilizing factor in Aries while Chiron has invited focus and coherence into the parts of you that you may have lost contact with. This is an opportunity for recovering some of these lost, essential parts of yourself, something that may have been left behind in childhood, forgotten in another realm or gone missing amidst the changes of the digital age. Especially as Chiron will be making its move from Aries to Taurus and back again over the next year, this is a fruitful time to be questioning who you are and who you might be becoming; who is this inner self and what is ready to emerge into the daylight? How are you changing, which ingrained emotional habits are you ready to let go of?

Information about this can come through in many ways: as unexpected and seemingly unexplainable sadness, unease, or memories suddenly surfacing. Observation is a powerful tool; what happens if you follow these sensations and ask your subconscious mind where they come from? You could try using any creative tools you have at your disposal and explore with freeform art, dream, fantasy, song, writing or time spent in nature — all doorways into the world of the 12th house.

Feet on the Ground

Reality checks will be important and I recommend keeping Venus and your sensual nature close by, with more than frequent check-ins with your body and its experience. Are you cold, hot, hungry, thirsty, satiated? Do you feel the sun shining, the rain falling, the wind blowing? Are those fluorescent lights putting all of your synapses on edge? Are you holding your breath? Come back to your body as often as you remember and set an alarm if you have to.

The Taurean Venus loves wild nature and doing what you can to nourish the Earth and Water of your being during these times of intense Fire and Air will help you stay oriented. You have your points of grounding. It may be helpful to think of grounding as bringing into physical form, located in space and time. You have your ways to stay connected, whether yoga, your art, your garden, your grandchildren or taking care of goats. Your connection to the Earth and to Water is primary and these elements will conspire to help you remember and to ground in your most essential self while we are all dreaming this new era into being.

This brings up one last thought: It may be easy to feel that we are at the mercy of these larger-than-life forces, but Taurus is not set up to be a victim of someone else’s idea of fate. As a wise fool once said to Veruca Salt, and we would be wise to keep in mind, “We are the music makers and we are the dreamers of the dream.” Taurus always has this power, and the planetary alignments this year are serving to remind you that it is so.

    • Hello Patricia,
Thanks for your question. I have sent you an email with a glyph key for the chart symbols. We do not currently have a page that describes their meanings, but if you use the search function at the top left of the page, next to the ‘Donate’ button, you will find many resources, especially for the minor planets Eric uses. Please let me know if there’s anything you can’t find.
