Planet Waves by Eric Francis for April 30, 2026

Today’s extended readings are based on the chart for the Scorpio Full Moon on Friday. From the article, sent separately:

Cogency in an Environment of Chaos

Mercury conjunct Chiron in the Full Moon chart emphasizes the need to seek some cogency in an environment of accelerating chaos. It’s available, if you want it. Seek and ye shall find. If you think you’re confused, perhaps ask what role the confusion serves. Usually it is a form of insulation from awareness. As long as you’re confused, you have an excuse to withdraw awareness rather than to raise it.

To confuse means to pull apart. Are you really pulled apart?

One last point to consider. Mercury and Chiron are conjunct Sphinx. So we have a new thing to confront: a mystery. People read mystery books and go to mystery (suspense) movies but I think actually, tend to hate actual mysteries.

The former Astrology Studio / Birthday Reading series has been replaced by the “In Motion” series of sign readings, published throughout the year. These readings include your solar return but go much beyond that idea, looking at transits that develop in your chart over the next 12 to 14 months. A solar return is the positions of the planets on one day; I am looking at movement throughout the whole year. In Motion readings are offered separately and also included with the Astrology Pass and the Galaxy Pass.

Are you wondering what the all of the current astrology you keep reading about means for you?

My Inner Light – Inner Peace readings are in the top-two annual editions, giving detailed, sensitive and human-centered readings that cover events lasting years into the future. That’s because so many important transits begin in 2026. In this reading, you will learn about the effects of Uranus, Neptune, Pluto and Chiron, as well as many of the smaller planets that are important factors in the mix.

Planet Waves for April 30, 2026 — By Eric Francis

Today is horoscope 1,603. Detailed readings for your Sun, Moon and Rising Sign, with a new photo series, “Rocks Never Sleep.”

Aries (March 20-April 19) — The coming few days will reveal the deal-maker or the deal-breaker issue. However, I would propose that you’re in the stronger bargaining position and that others must make the most of the necessary concessions. They may try to convince you that they are the stronger party, but this is so far from reality that the only way to know the truth is to test it. The way to work that test is to hold your position. You might make a list of token concessions you’re willing to make that you don’t care much about, just so you have something to offer. That means knowing the core value — not your perceived value — and keeping that in mind. Perhaps I should add that the underlying condition is genuine fairness. Are you in a position to evaluate that for yourself? The theme of the 21st century is everyone is a king or a queen and entitled to the whole pie. This, of course, cannot be. So as the one who holds most of the advantage, you must decide what is fair, and be fair about it.

Taurus (April 19-May 20) — The Full Moon in your opposite sign Scorpio will serve you by releasing some kind of deadlock in a relationship or partnership situation. But you must not use too much leverage. And while you may be aware of the vulnerabilities of others, and the ways they may be putting on a front of some kind, it’s important to see yourself in them. The dangers of projection are way too significant to ignore right now, and the digital environment is a hall of mirrors. That’s why it’s so confusing and exhausting — we don’t often know that the person we’re responding to is ourselves. One property of this environment is an extreme of us versus them, largely characterized by a political view of events (cue: Glenn Beck on Fox Radio talking about how he allegedly hopes all Democrats don’t “hate America” — the whole concept is a self-serving lie that merely stokes polarization). This takes many forms. Do what you can to ramp this down and not ratchet it up. There’s more common ground than nearly anyone recognizes, and in truth it’s the only ground there is.

Gemini (May 20-June 21) — Your ideas are different from most of what you see and hear; your sense of who you are is also different. But this can be intimidating in a world where people are canceled for sport, where ideas are stolen, and where difference is often punished. Forget the propaganda about the only way to succeed is by being who you are, spoken by people whose face resembles a plaster cast. It is difficult to be different, and you are being called upon to master the fact that you are who you are. Let’s begin with the elegant truth that you cannot change your reality. Sure, you can read The 48 Laws of Power and learn how to be a bullshit artist, treating life like a poker game. Or, you can engage the fundamental confrontation of existence, which goes a little like: I am who I am, and you are who you are, and I’m not here to meet your expectations unless we have all agreed to them in advance. Most of those expectations are in your own mind, not those of the people around you. There are times you are better served by negotiation and others when you must do your thing.

Cancer (June 21-July 22) — The imminent Scorpio Full Moon looks like it arrives with a creative or sexual breakthrough. Yet this is something to work in the background or off to the side, rather than the front. This is wisdom direct from Tantric tradition, as well as any form of what might be called ‘shamanism’. Deep alchemy must be kept from general view, while you draw upon that energy and present yourself to the world at full strength and while standing on a strong foundation. Whatever the internet or growing older or religion or government propaganda have done to us, that foundation is emotional, sexual and physical. It’s about a relationship to the instincts and genetic instructions that have guided humanity through thousands of generations. (This unbroken chain or endless spiral of life also includes a connection to astrology.) We need to connect with these underlying layers of existence more than ever. You have that connection available to you in abundance right now. On the outside, this looks and feels like being human; allowing your facial expression to express how you actually feel; and saying out loud what is true for you.

Leo (July 22-Aug. 23) — “We are equal beings and the universe is our relationships with one another.” So begins the guide to psychedelics and the trip known as life called The Lazy Man’s Guide to Enlightenment. This was considered sage wisdom in the 1970s and is something of a joke today. Equal beings? It would seem that the whole purpose of civilization and relationships is to top everyone and everything — a truly strange fantasy. But one way or another, we are in it. The equity theme shows up with the forthcoming Full Moon pointing right to Varuna in your birth sign. One of the newer slow-movers, it was discovered in 2000 and given the name (20000) Varuna. In theme, it’s about the leveling of the playing field of existence. Its discovery year is the one when we enter full digital conditions, so it’s a beacon in our technological society. This is a time when madness and radical inequity have seized existence. Varuna has one other crucial theme: the honoring of oaths and contracts. This has become another comedy act in our present world, though I suggest you take it seriously.

Virgo (Aug. 23-Sep. 22) — The challenge of Virgo is how to establish your independence from your relationships without blowing them sky high, running away, or acting like a contrarian. There’s also the bit about whether relationships are mutual or one-way. However you discern this, it’s an active process. And it involves a probe into determining the reality of your situation — such as whether you belong in it or not. Recent events in Aries may have provided you with a moment of truth, a kind of ultimate reality check to teach you where you stand. The kind of situation you’re in tends to be about the need for independence at the same time your identity is invested in that from which you want to be independent. This has a way of being the ongoing, perpetual paradox of your life. Interdependence is fine if people honor one another’s autonomous existence. Many years ago I learned a lot from an astrology client whose boyfriend would not ‘allow’ her to go to community college because she might meet someone she likes better. But that arrangement only works for someone who does not want to widen their horizons or learn to stand on their own feet.

Libra (Sep. 22-Oct. 23) — We live in the time of saying anything to anyone to get their attention, which I am sure raises the short-hairs on the back of your neck regularly. While this is the flavor of the century, there are those who will say something you may consider strange but who are sincere and not manipulative. You will need to listen carefully and follow your instincts. Be cautious of the ones who make everything about themselves. Meantime, the transits of both Venus and Uranus into Gemini are designed to widen your horizons and remind you that you live in a much bigger world than you ever imagined. Seven years of Uranus in Taurus have been stuffy and confining. They have also imposed on you the idea that everything is a transaction with too many hands in the pot. And you’ve grown tired of the “whoever can smash the most gets the richest” school of business that rose to fame and acclaim during Uranus in Taurus (2018-2026). Uranus now in Gemini is an invitation into the universe of ideas and possibilities. So keep an open mind and look far abroad for the best possibilities.

Scorpio (Oct. 23-Nov. 22) — The message of Friday’s Full Moon in your birth sign may be as simple as not making such a drama about changing your mind about something. Scorpio is a ‘fixed sign’, but it’s often fixated on the idea of being so. I’ve never looked this up before, though the word ‘fixed’ pertains to the fixed stars — the ones that supposedly don’t move. From our standpoint, they only appear to drift because the Earth is wobbling on its axis. Yet every star we can see orbits the galaxy and is moved by many other forces — so, not so fixed after all. Anyway, the Moon reaching full phase in your sign is a reminder that nature is cyclical and you’re part of nature. From a practical standpoint, I suggest you investigate any attachment you might have to something you know is not true. There is likely to be some important facet of life where you know that you’re being deceived. You might like it that way because then you don’t have to consider what is true, contemplate the truth, or address your reasons for not doing so. Jesus was right — there is freedom in truth. How do you feel about that?

Sagittarius (Nov. 22-Dec. 22) — Any real idea is going to be offensive to someone. By real, I mean sincere, original and having the power to change the world a little or a lot. That’s generally considered a good reason not to say anything about it, or to mask it over with normalcy. But this is not about other people. The person your ideas move generally — and particularly the idea you have right now — is you. When you acknowledge something, you are in a sense compelled to act on it, to make a decision, or to change your world view. And mostly you would be compelled to admit something about yourself, which could even be as basic as your creative power. Then there is the matter of financial relationships. Is there anyone in your life with whom you cannot be real because there is some kind of transaction or support involved? Are you invested in something that is making a profit but is not quite as scrupulous as it should be? I would propose that psychic envelope needs to be opened up and the contents seen for what they are. Your integrity has no price, nor should it.

Capricorn (Dec. 22-Jan. 20) — It’s probable that you’ve never had less faith in people, including many close to you and those in the world around you. The persistent abuse of trust is enough to bring down the spirits of any practical person. Capricorn in all forms will be in a recovery phase for a while after witnessing all that has been done to the world in your lifetime and all that’s being done to it now. It’s true that most individuals don’t care so much about the world as long as they know where their next meal is coming from. And not knowing is pretty distracting too. But as the child of matter/mother/Saturn, you are part of this world and it is part of you. This world is held together by faith, which is another way of saying the dharma. You must invest your faith in something or someone. Part of that can be you, though that’s a limited relationship. The dharma extends to the whole world, a world that dearly needs to be held together. The Scorpio Full Moon will light up your faith in yourself and also in something important to you.

Aquarius (Jan. 20-Feb. 19) — Beware of change for its own sake. Yes, sometimes it’s a good idea to rearrange the living room to see if it can be done better. I’m talking about the kinds of changes that software developers make, moving around all the options and changing the names of things for no reason other than to give them something to do. Society and everyone in it are being driven relentlessly by nonstop movement, so-called innovation and what everyone from businessmen to public health officials call ‘disruption’. This is supposed to be the good and necessary thing: mess shit up, and send everyone scrambling. I suggest you be more adaptive, by which I mean consciously flexible and making changes where only necessary to stay in the flow. Why might you accept an update to the software version of a device? What is contained in that code? The same questions are necessary for any change you might make or go along with. Your mind and emotions need rest, consistency and coherence. That is different from rigidity. A flexible, adaptable approach is essential.

Pisces (Feb. 19-March 20) — The Scorpio Full Moon will illuminate several potential paths by which you may move forward. It will also illuminate one or more false paths that you know are wrong for you because they inherently lack truth or veracity. There are others that you know are correct for you because they align with something in your soul nature and other facets of your values. And while what you see may seem to be about ideas, I assure you it goes deeper to the ideas that are the fundamental essence of your nature. This reminds me of a term from the Seth material channeled by Jane Roberts: probable selves. These are simultaneous versions of an individual that exist across parallel, non-linear realities. These ‘selves’ represent alternative life paths, choices, and outcomes stemming from different decisions made in various, equally valid, dimensions of existence. But let’s place this into the context of your current existence and the options you have available now. Imagine that the Full Moon lights up a number of potential choices, approaches or pathways that are available to you. Be aware this is a real phenomenon, being shown to you now for a reason.
