Aries (March 20-April 19) — Mars in your sign is serving as a confidence-building exercise. How that might develop is being shown all the ways that you fall short on faith in yourself and in your abilities. You might have missed these otherwise, as you do a great job of faking it when you have to. You will feel a lot better when you can connect to your core trust in yourself and what you’re capable of, as this will clear away several sources of anxiety that only get in your way. Yet you will feel like you’re flying into a head wind for a while, as over the next couple of weeks, Mars in your sign makes conjunctions to the North Node, Chiron and Eris, each of which contains much personal information about your relationship to yourself. Rise to each challenge cheerfully and with the willingness to learn, and you will be shown all that you need to know.

Taurus (April 19-May 20) — Venus traveling through your sign wants to think that everything is just right and good enough — the ultimate goal of any Taurus. However, you’re about to have one of your occasional shakeups and decide there is nothing you want more than change. So relax and enjoy the relative calm, and then don’t be surprised when you’re seized by an idea and the sudden impulse to make it happen. You’ve been working up to this ability for a while, and it must come as a great relief to discover that you’re capable of being spontaneous. True creative freedom with your own life requires the ability to do what you want when you want it — within the bounds of this world, or jumping over them somewhat. People around you will be happy to see that you’re giving yourself some room to play and explore. Do something for yourself, with yourself and nobody else — then next time maybe invite company.

Gemini (May 20-June 21) — Your chart looks like you keep waking up from strange dreams wondering what planet you’re on, and what century it is. This could also happen when you walk down the street and (for example) go into the direct recall of another lifetime. Let any such psychic events shake you out of your current reality. You’ve outgrown it, you need something new, and you’re about to get it — but not if you hold on tight. Any “unusual mental events,” — including restlessness, a shifting sense of space and time, or the urge to break free — are all positive signs that you’re letting go of your grip on a past history that is over and done. It’s still a few weeks before the Sun, Venus and Jupiter enter your birth or rising sign. Yet before that happens you get a series of wakeup calls encouraging you to fully show up for yourself and participate in your own life. You will soon be reminded how much you have to be grateful for, of which your charm and intelligence are but a small part.

Cancer (June 21-July 22) — This will be a truly unusual week in your social world, and if you don’t have much of one, now is your opportunity to opt in. Plus, for the next few weeks, you will have a spotlight shining on you, and all that you’ve achieved in recent years. Social and professional affairs are blending into one bold environment, and I suggest you make your presence known to the world in every way you can think of. This means making sure that people to whom it might matter are aware of your abilities, and getting into social situations to the greatest degree possible. Opportunities will be cross-pollinating between the two closely-related areas of existence. In the digitally-ruled world, people forget that in-person encounters are the most meaningful and the most enduring. They’re also becoming ephemeral, however, so it will be up to you to follow up on anything that seems like it might be an active social and/or professional lead. Human need and genuine kindness still make the world go round.

Leo (July 22-Aug. 23) — You have a choice where to draw your strength and power. It’s always the same two options, though lately they are written in bold italics. One possibility is from your worldly authority: being a boss, a parent, an official of some kind, or just officious. The other is a spiritual source, which for you must begin and end with a rare form of self-awareness. But there are some modifications. Currently the worldly authority approach only works with love, kindness and devotion to beauty. You cannot pull rank; you can only charm those you want to influence. The spiritual source equals self-awareness approach requires a kind of modesty that does not come naturally to you and does not really seem like it makes sense in our world of glam and glitter. Treat people like they’re just a little better than you, and a little wiser, and suddenly everything will come into focus.

Virgo (Aug. 23-Sep. 22) — Over decades writing horoscopes for Virgo, I’ve developed a core theme, which is your relationship to yourself when you’re in an intimate relationship with someone else. This deserves its own astrology book; it involves the placement of Aries (self-actualization, individual will) in the 8th house of your chart (deep involvement or merger with others; losing oneself; orgasm, death and surrender). With all that going on, deep involvement is alluring, though fraught with contradictions. For example, you do not lose your individual will no matter how deeply you merge with another person, though this has also been a source of conflict. (This is true for many people, but it’s especially poignant for you.) Aspects over the next few weeks keep this theme in focus: Mercury still coming out of retrograde in Aries, Mars now in Aries, and both planets making conjunctions to Chiron and Eris. Apropos of this astrology, I offer a few thoughts from Fritz Perls: “I do my thing and you do your thing. / I am not in this world to live up to your expectations / and you are not in this world to live up to mine.”

Libra (Sep. 22-Oct. 23) — What is unfolding in your life may seem to be about a relationship, but really it’s about the total environment that you call “the world.” However, the world often manifests through individual relationships, which are then mistaken for the whole-wide-world. This and this alone is the cause of much grief on Earth, as the events of individual relationships can seem to shake and rattle all of existence. Keep your sense of proportion over the next couple of weeks, as highly assertive Mars moves through your relationship house Aries (your 7th place) and makes contact with several highly sensitive points there. Actually, something of this nature has been going on for a while (since early April, involving the solar eclipse and the recent Mercury retrograde, still working itself out). Mars ramps up the heat and intensity. Be cautious of those who come on with the most bravado. They are also the most insecure and the least likely to respect agreements and boundaries.

Scorpio (Oct. 23-Nov. 22) — You may finally feel the possibility of renewal in a relationship or of relationships generally. At the same time, you may also be noticing a kind of shadow arching over the way you used to just be able to have fun. Your astrology is offering a couple of clues. One is the idea to be more immediate in your interactions, and less concerned with what you think might happen in the long run. At the moment, there is no such thing. The world is so unstable that all we have is now. And that is pretty serious, requiring an immediacy and the ability to get a feeling for who you are talking to, right in the moment. You may also be figuring out that seemingly permanent situations sooner or later must change. As for the just having fun part, the emphasis is now on you to create your own pleasure and your own sense of fulfillment, with no help from what passes for entertainment. It’s true that most people would go into rigor mortis without all this overwhelming input. You’re too intelligent for that kind of distraction.

Sagittarius (Nov. 22-Dec. 22) — Give yourself credit for what you’ve accomplished over the past few months; it’s more impressive than you may imagine. You may feel like you’re falling short creatively, though that’s merely a matter of confidence. It’s never easy to translate ideas into action, and in this world (usually Planet Yawn) a little passion goes a long way. So too does a small achievement that’s headed in the direction you want to go. Just keep going. The emphasis in your solar chart shifts to your opposite sign Gemini late this month, which means that more will be available in your environment. Let things come to you rather than you going to them. Know what you want, and what you want to do. But don’t limit yourself to your own concept of success because I suspect that the universe has something bigger in mind.

Capricorn (Dec. 22-Jan. 20) — Is someone intentionally keeping a secret from you, or are they minding their own business? It would be preferable to ask rather than to assume, or to guess. It’s important to keep the trust and confidence of the people close to you, and that means doing your part to keep channels of communication open. Meanwhile, this week’s aspects show that you may be willing to take a potentially large risk on something, and you might want to hedge your bets. The kinds of risks you want to take right now are creative, not speculative, and not athletic. You may be tempted to try something over your qualification level or needlessly dangerous. For a while, anyway, stick to the dangerous activity known as the creation of beauty and daring yourself to explore emotions that are disappearing into the digital age. Your senses will inform you. The feelings in your body will guide you.

Aquarius (Jan. 20-Feb. 19) — If you’re feeling antsy inside, then go outside. If you’re feeling restless about your space, then do some rearranging, which may involve clearing out rooms and closets, probably late at night. You need a sense of freedom in your home, and outside your home. Think of that as freedom to move, both mentally and physically. It’s also the freedom to think. More than anything, it must be, and feel like, your own space. It would be understandable if you feel confined or like you’re at the end of your tether. You’re actually at the beginning of an important new phase of your life, and there is always some uncertainty on the cusp of a new era. We are in one collectively — and you are on the brink of a new reality personally. It’s not happening overnight but the winds of change are unmistakable. The most important thing you can do is hold your center, and part of how I suggest you do that is by staying engaged in productive, pleasant activity.

Pisces (Feb. 19-March 20) — The next few weeks will bring you both financial opportunity and the motivation to make it real. Yet there is one caution, and it’s stated boldly: you must be true to your values. That is all that matters, more than any success, any acquisition, any win or victory. All those things are transient; what is crucial is your alignment with yourself, and your ability to be absolutely real with yourself. This may feel like being painfully real, or refreshingly real, or powerfully real — but you will know it when you feel it, because you’re tapping into a light within yourself that can see through the fog and the chaos of the world. You bring your own light with you wherever you go. As you do so, others will seek you out, and all you need to do is establish communication with them. You need to have no agenda; every relationship starts with hello, and then you will know what to do.
