Aries (March 20-April 19) — There’s an old book called How to Be Your Own Best Friend. In it, the author, Mildred Newman, writes, “Most of us haven’t begun to tap our own potential; we’re operating way below capacity. And we’ll continue as long as we are looking for someone to give us the key to the kingdom. We must realize that the kingdom is in us; and we already have the key. It’s as if we’re waiting for permission to start fully living.” Events of the next week will demonstrate how true this statement is. You’re likely to find yourself in a situation where you must stand up for yourself, get out of your own way, and also work for common or shared interests. This issue will be of life-changing significance and it is up to you to take the lead as both warrior and diplomat.
Taurus (April 19-May 20) — You have the answers and you have the solution, though as usual you may be hiding from yourself. In fact, you probably are, since that’s what you do best. Yet you don’t need to play games with yourself when you have your personal truth in your possession. You might think you lack the confidence to be real. I have good news: you build your confidence by taking the risk of being real — with yourself and with others. You may feel like you’re walking on thin ice, or even walking on water. But you are really on the most solid ground in existence, which is that of asserting your reality to anyone it might matter to — especially yourself. The denial game goes a little like this: you don’t admit something to yourself because if you did, you would have to reveal it to others, or even act on it. Yes, exactly!

Gemini (May 20-June 21) — Mercury is about to station direct for the first time since Uranus entered your sign. This will arrive with a psychic relief and a burst of energy that’s actually started already. It’s enough to help you dissolve or walk through or break through any creative block you might be experiencing. Or said another way: this is a moment when you can make a new discovery about your freedom to express who you are. Mars in your fellow air sign Libra is completing an aspect pattern that will light up the whole sky with bold determination. This describes the courage to violate some social norm that’s holding you back from actually being real. The result won’t be about being offensive, but you may feel like you’re transgressing some boundary. What you’re really doing is getting over yourself. Then keep going and see where that takes you.

Cancer (June 21-July 22) — Mercury stations direct in your money angle in a few days, so take the time to do a careful assessment of your situation. Check your balances on hand and balances owed; know your plastic from your cash. Focus on your highest priorities. There are, however, much more important topics than money at the moment. You finally have the grounding and the confidence to accomplish something that has evaded you for a long time, and which you thought was about luck or ability. Actually it’s about chutzpah and your willingness to rearrange your life to get the result that you want. Your most important environment is within you — not anything involving an external. You have your own independent source of energy that is driving you without any need for inspiration. The help you need will be there if you take initiative.

Leo (July 22-Aug. 23) — The Full Moon in your opposite sign paired with Mercury turning direct is now influencing you. You may have the idea that you can take on the world. That may be true, though the planets suggest you use diplomacy instead of force or aggression. You don’t know what you’re up against. You can’t really see your competitors, opponents or even your partners, clearly. Diplomacy is not manipulation; neither is it ‘passive’ aggression, which merely means concealed. Rather, when you sense a confrontation or a disagreement is brewing, get a conversation going and find out where people are at. This involves the now rarified skill of listening and evaluating in a way that’s not designed to funnel someone into a point of view they don’t really have. Handle difficult situations with finesse and you’ll build respect and help hold the world together rather than fracture it even more.
Virgo (Aug. 23-Sep. 22) — You’re not through making discoveries about yourself, and a significant one is on the way. There’s something here about figuring out how and why your self-confidence is so often blocked. This discovery will come with the drive to take action — though I suggest you slow down the movie. You might want to jump any time between now and when Mercury stations direct on the 11th. However, you’re still missing information that will prove to be very important. If you act without this knowledge, the results could be needlessly difficult and costly. Prepare for making the right choice at the right time. Stop and ask yourself if there is anyone’s confidence or trust you’re betraying in the name of your own personal gain or progress. If the answer is yes, you’re not ready to make your move. Have the difficult conversation. After all, you have nothing to hide, right?

Libra (Sep. 22-Oct. 23) — This may be a dramatic week in your life as Mars enters your sign and forms an opposition to the mighty Saturn-Neptune pairing. However, as outgoing as this aspect is, seeming to call for immediate action, it’s essential that you wait at least until Mercury turns to direct motion on the 11th before making any decision you cannot reverse. This is not about superstition or “following the omens.” Rather, Mercury’s current position suggests that there is important information you do not have at this time, and when you have it, it will change your view on your situation. You might even want to reverse course entirely, but by then it will be too late. Therefore, my best suggestion as your astrologer is to pause until you find out what you need to know. This development will be fairly obvious, but will take some time to decipher.
Scorpio (Oct. 23-Nov. 22) — I ended my most recent horoscope for you with the suggestion that you “pay attention to detail and to integrity.” It’s important to recognize that these things don’t matter to most people. Suddenly details are irrelevant and for most of the world, integrity is a joke. If people calmly accept a convicted felon as president, the world is in sad shape. What would it mean to not accept a felon as president? Perhaps people would be more vocal about not accepting him as an example. That’s the part that I find troubling: he’s taken by many as a hero. Can you say, “We don’t act like that in our family / company / organization / circle of friends”? Do you hold yourself to a higher standard in a world where you can get away with nearly anything? That’s even more important. You are an exemplar for many, and they are noticing you.

Sagittarius (Nov. 22-Dec. 22) — Two factors are working in your favor over the next several days. The first is the Full Moon in Aquarius, which will have the effect of the clouds clearing and seeing that you actually do have room to think and make decisions. The second is Mercury finally turning to direct motion in the area of your chart where faith in yourself and in existence meets your creative passions. Taken together, you have room to grow, whatever it is that you do. Yet you must allocate the willingness, patience and most of all, discipline to your development as any form of creative talent. In an era when you can have a computer write you a song in 20 seconds, it can still take months to master a single guitar scale. A story can take weeks of editing and a painting can develop over years. As for time, mostly, this is about willingness.

Capricorn (Dec. 22-Jan. 20) — The concept of recreation is gradually evaporating, and I suggest you not allow it to dry out. I don’t mean going on vacation or any particular activity such as waterskiing, but rather the deeper experience of ‘creating yourself again’. Yet this is essential now, in times when there are so many factors depleting our human qualities, our time and our flexibility. Mars has moved to the midheaven angle of your solar chart, and you may be feeling more ambitious than you have in a long time. You’re unlikely to want to sit still and you have a lot you want to accomplish. However, I suggest you mix this generously with a day or two of doing nothing special every week. And if something urgent comes up, pause, and set a (truly) realistic deadline — especially over the next five days.

Aquarius (Jan. 20-Feb. 19) — Mercury retrograde is about to end, and this has been taking place in your relationship house, Leo. No matter what others say or people do, you must keep cool. And there may be some hot-headed words that could easily lead to a misunderstanding. It may not be easy to pull back and be a little detached, or to focus on being observant, and not get dragged in. The key here is to not allow anyone to vamp your energy. So the less you feed the situation, the sooner it will blow over. Meanwhile, the Full Moon building over the next 48 hours could precipitate matters, so you must be careful now and avoid any and all confrontations. Everything will be different in about five days or so — unless you get drawn into a vortex not of your own design.

Pisces (Feb. 19-March 20) — Your efforts at work may be slogging a bit, as if you can’t quite get focused. But you’ve accomplished more than you think, which will not be obvious for another week or so. Meanwhile, over the next few days it’s essential that you get enough rest and take care of yourself otherwise. Stay hydrated and avoid sugar, weed and alcohol. You want full access to your actual energy emerging from within you, rather than what Chinese medicine calls “false fire.” You have plenty of mojo — you will see. What you get done over the next two weeks will more than compensate for any seeming delays, which are total illusion anyway. Guide your energy carefully. Set your most important priority as the thing that gets your first and best attention starting first thing in the morning. Then you’ll have plenty of time for other things.
