Your Weekend Astrology for Jan. 10-12, 2020

Tomorrow is the exact, world-re-shaping conjunction of Saturn and Pluto in Capricorn, though we’ve been experiencing its effects for many months. We also just experienced a Full Moon and lunar eclipse in Cancer yesterday — opposite those powerful Capricorn planets — which is still ringing.

The conjunction and eclipse are essentially one event, and we are still under the influence of the eclipse. All of it together is adding up to a lot of energy, a lot of potential, and possibly some tension or confusion.

Most of all, this weekend’s astrology is an invitation to you to wake up if you’ve been asleep, and to get moving with what you’ve learned over the last 10 years or so if you’ve been awake (or in a process of awakening). With a number of planets and points in Capricorn, there’s a reminder to use time, authority and the structure of your environment well. Get strategic and purposeful.

As the Cancer eclipse separates, there’s an opening to feel your way toward a new vision for your life — and a new cycle of growth and creativity. Just doing a little of one thing you love, or one thing you’re trying to work toward, could be all you need. You don’t have to tag all the bases with one swing for your actions to count.

Note that Mercury (mind) is closely conjunct the Sun (conscious expression) and today exactly conjoins Ceres (food) in Capricorn. I’ve observed that for some this is feeling a little mentally pressurized, given its proximity to the eclipse and Saturn-Pluto. Other people simply feel alert and communicative.

If you’re feeling stressed or scattered, slow your pace down with everything. Give your mind the space it needs, with meditation or at least less stimulation; this is a form of self-nourishment.

It’s easy to get a little superstitious about astrology — worrying about aspects that some deem ‘difficult’, or fearing that if you don’t take advantage of the ‘important’ ones, you’ll miss your chance at growth or healing or doing what you love. Know there is always another chance, though it may come in a different form or flavor.

Keep your head out of the sand, dare to experiment a little, and be honest with yourself about what you want and need. If you can aim to do that, knowing that your capacity and results will vary day by day, you’ll be amazed what can unfold.

  1. an event somewhat fitting that happened Jan 8 on the Island where I live describes the Saturn-Pluto aspect: the waste management company’s multi-year “temporary use” permit expired and currently there is no place to dump waste. Some people reacted with fury. Time to deal with your garbage Pender Island! Fortunately we have an excellent recycling centre. I see it as another push to take a look at what we consume in the first place, first “R is reduce. Thanks for all the astrological and human insights, so clearly presented and helpful
