You’re probably aware of how certain relationship histories weave into what you need to restructure in your life this year. Chances are those roots extend into even older family imprints. It may feel as if others hold more power than you do, but that is not the case. The more creatively and courageously you open those doors, and encourage emotional movement, the more you will withdraw old projections and let go of whatever has held you back. Breakthroughs are right around the corner.

Written in the Planets for Thursday, Jan. 9
When the Moon enters Cancer today at 3:43 am EST (8:43:07 UTC), it enters the eclipse slipstream. If you have not already, this is the time to begin putting some energy, focus and tangible action toward whatever you would like to grow and reap in the next 6-12 months. Even touching just a little on something you love could manifest results down the line.
The penumbral lunar eclipse peaks tomorrow (Friday, Jan. 10) at 2:10 pm EST / 19:09:58 UTC. (A penumbral lunar eclipse is when just the edge of the Moon darkens a little.)
The Cancer Full Moon that precipitates the eclipse actually peaks a little later, at 2:21 pm EST (19:21:10 UTC). And on Jan. 12, the Saturn-Pluto conjunction is exact. So this eclipse is a direct part of the Saturn-Pluto event, and the longer-term process of resolution and restructuring it represents. (You can read more of Eric’s take on this astrology and current events here.)
All the objects that will be aligned with Friday’s eclipse pattern are later in Capricorn. Yet today the Moon will make contact with Jupiter and the powerful, transformative centaur planet Pholus.
With Pholus being the planet of “small cause, big effect,” and Jupiter the planet of expansion and freedom, this looks like an ideal warm-up to the eclipse proper. Think big, and feel how much space you can take in your life. Then make small moves with specific intention. It will help you occupy that space the way you’ve long been wanting to.
