Aries (March 20-April 19) — The Scorpio New Moon is urging you to say what you could never say before — about the most taboo subjects. There are things everyone assumes are unspeakable and therefore unknowable by any other person. That has the nifty effect of making sure that you don’t actually know about them; that you don’t even know what you actually have in mind. Speaking takes thoughts and emotions out of the lurking in the background. Putting matters into words is committing to them, and in a similar way, spending money on something is committing to it. Both words and money are under the guidance of Mercury, and this New Moon lines up exactly with it. Your solar chart says there is a secret you’re keeping from yourself that you dearly want to know. Then you will understand yourself better.

Taurus (April 19-May 20) — You may consider yourself a trusting person. But if that is true, why do you have so many issues with vulnerability? Why are you on your guard almost all the time? This is going to come back to who you trust and why; who you don’t and why. Problems arise when you try to live with an untrusting situation and not say anything about it, since after all, saying something requires vulnerability. Then it’s possible to point to your partner and say they are the one who is not being open or receptive or willing to take a chance on honest communication. Naturally this comes back to a diversity of childhood conditions that led you to your emotional orientation. In the long run, how you feel about your existence is not about anyone else. How you feel about other people is about you and your emotional state.

Gemini (May 20-June 21) — You have a concept of relationships and then there is the underlying reality. One is the figure dancing on the stage and the other is the whole theater and all of its various spaces and people and history and potential. The temptation to stare right at the thing in the spotlight is distracting you, while you forget that someone is pointing the light on that person and that subject. It’s not just there. It’s not some kind of an accident that certain matters seem illuminated and everything else is in the dark. And for that reason everything else seems not to exist. But it does, and the real action is taking place backstage, or in the wings, or in the dressing rooms, or up in the fly loft where all the rigging is kept. You think you’re sitting invisibly in the audience when really you’re the director of the whole show.

Cancer (June 21-July 22) — The exact midpoint of Mercury retrograde coincides with the Scorpio New Moon. That translates into unusually deep insight into some life areas that most people prefer to avoid. Specifically, this is about sexuality being about much more than just sex. There is something you dearly want to understand about yourself; and something you want to express with just as much emphasis. What will come first, the understanding or the expression? You probably need to write and talk about your feelings, and then you will have a sense of what they are and who they are about. You may feel like you have to clam up and reveal as little as possible but your astrology shows a different picture: you need to be open and stay open.

Leo (July 22-Aug. 23) — The theme of messages from ancestors continues to vibrate through your astrology. This week’s very unusual Scorpio New Moon is calling you into a deeper relationship to all members of your family, whether with us on the physical plane or not. You may find yourself having memories of what people said to you long ago, bits of wisdom they imparted to you, or examples set by the actions that they took. You may develop a whole other point of view on who certain people were and why they were so important in your development. Pay close attention to your relationships with cousins and their friends. If you have misgivings about any of those relationships, you are in a position to come away with a different point of view.

Virgo (Aug. 23-Sep. 22) — Open up to the people around you — please. You have meaningful and important things to say that will benefit everyone, but you seem reluctant to be vulnerable. You may feel that your thoughts will not be welcome. You might feel like you’re thinking things that are too taboo. It’s true that you must be selective who you speak to about what particular subjects. Discussions with very close friends and siblings are the most significant right now. You will need to either initiate the discussion or respond to an invitation or opening to do so. You may find yourself wanting to speak about things you’ve held back for a long time. You may discover that you don’t know how you really feel about certain matters and don’t figure it out until you get into a conversation. Choose people who have a longterm record of being trustworthy with you. You are in sensitive territory.

Libra (Sep. 22-Oct. 23) — This is not the week to make big decisions about money and other resources. But it’s definitely the most brilliant week of the year to assess your situation and brainstorm new ideas. Do so thoughtfully and give yourself through the end of Mercury retrograde on the 29th — and about five or six days beyond. You are looking for clues and information and those will be forthcoming around the time of the station-direct. That is the beauty of Mercury retrograde. It can be difficult, but if you persist, and if you let your questions stand unanswered, at the end, there is always a perk of useful information. But you must be patient and you must know how to formulate a question, spot missing information and most importantly, know when you do not know. It takes discipline to stand there, but it will be worth it.

Scorpio (Oct. 23-Nov. 22) — You may make some discoveries about your parents that will amaze you. Whether they are present or not, there is quite a bit that you either do not know, or have suppressed from memory for some reason. Those secluded bits of yourself may make themselves known over the next week or so, and you will learn more if you get with any trusted siblings and compare notes. However, with Mars in Sagittarius, remember, this is not a trial, or moral judgment. It’s not about prosecution or being a plaintiff. Rather, at this stage you will benefit greatly from collecting information and seeing it in context. Even the seemingly bad things people have done will take on new relevance and meaning. Take the opportunity to put yourself in the shoes of those you disagree with.

Sagittarius (Nov. 22-Dec. 22) — Thursday’s New Moon way at the back of your chart may awaken you to some unimaginable facets of yourself. These could be feelings you didn’t know you were capable of, memories you didn’t know you had, or a window into an interior world apart from normal waking life. This may come to you in dreams or when you’re not really paying attention. This bold and inquisitive Scorpio chart opens up your most private places and states of feeling, at the same time raising many questions about how or why you feel this way. Revelations may come in the early morning hours. And if it’s in the middle of the work day and you remember a dream, stop and scribble down a few words to prompt you when you’re ready to go deeper.

Capricorn (Dec. 22-Jan. 20) — There are things you don’t want people to know about yourself, yet you can assume that they do. In other words, there is a dimension of your personal inner truth that mists and steams into your environment. And in that subtle way you are known. The mental or psychic attempt to shield yourself consumes a lot of energy. It also creates a disturbance that in itself makes it difficult to relate to others. In fact most people are walking around trying to conceal something about themselves. And yet it would make little difference if others knew — little except for how you would feel better being transparent and not attempting to hide yourself behind a scrim. You can afford to be honest, though most people are not so interested in taking the risk.

Aquarius (Jan. 20-Feb. 19) — Thursday’s mysterious New Moon takes place in a sensitive little crevice of your chart where you worry about your public reputation. In our time, everyone’s private life has been turned inside out or it could be at any moment. Someone can share all of your text messages and emails to them, your photo library can be hacked, and you probably reveal a good few things about yourself that you don’t need to. What I’m talking about is the place you might be inclined to make a conscious effort to hide, specifically to protect how others perceive you. What this often does is create a fixation or disturbance that in itself occupies your mind and also draws attention from the world. The solution to the puzzle of this chart is to experiment with revealing the very things you would be inclined to conceal.

Pisces (Feb. 19-March 20) — The Pisces solar chart is the real time incarnation of a spiritual approach to sexuality. By that I mean sexual ideas and the physical thing itself — both are essential to get the full benefit. However, the fact that nobody has ever heard of such a ridiculous notion may leave you wondering whether it actually means anything, or whether it’s even a possibility. Don’t let that stop you any more than people chowing down Burger King get between you and sushi.
