Planet Waves Weekly for Jan. 15, 2026 — #1,589

Part of an ancient stone wall
About 25,000 miles of ancient stone walls can be found throughout the northeastern United States and were very unlikely to have been made by the colonists or settlers. They are more likely to. have been made by Native Americans. Photo by Eric Francis.

Good afternoon —

Today’s horoscope readings and Starcast are based on Sunday’s New Moon in Capricorn and in some cases, the Aquarius ingress of the Sun on Jan. 19.

I am newly reborn from doing the Inner Light 2026 readings. I’ve studied every inch and degree of what develops well into 2027…and it is amazing. I’ve summarized my work in a new set of readings designed just for you. I’m about to embark on the Inner Peace audio readings. These will be just as beautiful…just as special. Many purchasing options include both.

Reach out if you need to contact me. You can reply to this email or write to me at cs@planetwaves.net.

Aries (March 20-April 19) — You’ll get the greatest value and the best results from working within informal social situations rather than corporate ones. People who know this tend to be much more successful, and it’s an important theme of your current time and place. Informal social situations are not necessarily easier, but you have a knack for them. And it’s more fun than navigating the halls of power and official roles. But there is one thing that you must accomplish within the corporate realm to be free of a situation that’s been vexing you for some time. This may involve knowing when to get out; when to cut your losses; or when to declare victory and move on. You still seem to have plenty of fight, and the path of least resistance or an exit plan may not be appealing. The deeper question is about what you want to do with your precious life force, your time and your creativity.

Taurus (April 19-May 20) —  You’ve grown accustomed to a way of life that’s probably not suited for you at all. You may have the benefits of feeling more with it and up-to-date. Yet this has distracted you from something deeper and more elemental about yourself that remains true. The change has happened over such a long time that you probably didn’t notice it. There are times when you do, and you feel like a stranger in a strange land. When and how did things get this way? The tide has risen gradually. While many facets of our world are not to your liking, when you’re called to leadership, you need to be in tune with the times. Over the next week, your responsibilities are likely to increase significantly. This is happening because you’re ready. Even if you’re not fully willing, you understand the nature of your commitment.

Gemini (May 20-June 21) — Matters of a contractual nature should have a fairly straightforward solution. You’d be wise to not prolong them by trying to get a better deal or sticking around for one more fight. You have better things to do with your precious time than shadowbox with the system. If your situation involves a person you feel wants a bigger piece than you, look around and you’ll discover a workable exit plan. If you need to, let someone think they won. The more important matter is how not to get entangled in situations where you give up authority over your life. It takes most people many years to learn this, and for you, it’s about time. Your quest for the foreseeable future is finding your way into a wider, more interesting world of people and ideas, where you will surely feel much more at home.

Cancer (June 21-July 22) — You have some wild progress to look forward to in the professional areas of your life, exceeding anything you’ve ever experienced. But I would drop one query and one advisory into the mix. The query is, what scale do you want to work on? Think that through. If you want to grow something, by how many orders of magnitude? There’s only so big you need or want to be. The advisory is, your true success depends on being fully present for your experience. Way too often, success, fame and fortune omit the necessities of growth and maturity. Your personal reality must come first, prioritized above any results in the world. You’re one person — the same person in every situation and all that you do. You have no part to act, and nobody to impress. Your only responsibility is to yourself — but that’s not being cut any kind of break. It’s the most challenging way to live.

Leo (July 22-Aug. 23) — Avoid situations where there’s any kind of confrontation, whether open or covert. This is for now, and the foreseeable future. You need a whole new approach that avoids any kind of blow-for-blow or head banging. Put yourself into a frame of mind where everything gets a negotiated solution. The essence of this approach is knowing what people’s interests are and using them as your selling points. Make it sound like all you care about is other people. I’m not saying sacrifice anything except a certain kind of conflict that way too many people are in love with. You will have to avoid the temptation of thinking that you can over-power others; but that approach is useless. The wider theory involves getting those people out of your life before they get any traction in your affairs, and not letting them get too close to you in the first place.

Virgo (Aug. 23-Sep. 22) — What are you struggling for? If I may propose something, it would be your independence. But independence from what? And what of all the benefits you get from having your interests intertwined with others? Such a thought process does not comport with a rebellious state of being; it’s about the ability to make your own decisions. However, maturity would dictate that you be aware of the various contexts in which you exist: the commitments you’ve made and what they mean to you, the expectations others have of you (whether grounded or not), and something akin to knowing whose property you live on. Maybe it’s yours, and if so, what does that mean? You might start with the exercise, “If I could do anything I want, I would do this.” As for partners: are you really interested? Do you want or need them? You must know and admit the truth and act accordingly.

Libra (Sep. 22-Oct. 23) — This is the time to get your house in order. Much has changed over the past year or so, and you need to reorganize and tap into the reality of your situation. Your confidence and sense of security are coming from entirely different sources than they ever have before. Your emphasis cannot merely be on not feeling insecure or addressing the source of your fears. That could take up several lifetimes and you would not make any progress. Most of your fears aren’t coming from you anyway. They are spouting up from the ancient ground of your ancestors, who had a lot more to worry about than you do, along with far less information, fewer resources and less freedom. Put your emphasis on what you want to create. Challenge the things you thought you were certain about. Dare to be real, especially when every factor seems to say you cannot.

Scorpio (Oct. 23-Nov. 22) — If you’re angry, it would be good of you to say so. I don’t mean to rage out. I mean express your feelings as a fact of your reality. See how that feels, and also, notice the response that you get. Anger implies a grievance; that implies wanting it to be resolved. The important thing, therefore, is the resolution and not the anger. This involves a communication process. There’s a fair chance that partners and even adversaries will be willing to either cooperate or make concessions, if you give them a fair chance. Therefore, speak the language of collaboration. Challenge yourself to propose solutions where everyone gains. This is not a hippy delusion from 1969 but rather the world we would live in without the obsession on winners and losers. Start by considering that it’s possible, and deciding that you want such a thing. Who knows, you might not. At least make a decision.

Sagittarius (Nov. 22-Dec. 22) — You may be the one person in your local vicinity who has your priorities in order and your head together. Or at least you’re interested in such a thing. What you have going for you is the awareness that everything is not all about you. In fact at the moment you’re a visionary of what would work for collective benefit. Nearly all the time, this is a protest chant rather than something people actually work for. For example, many of the food cooperatives that still exist today have their origins in a time not unlike our own, more than half a century ago. We need to breathe life into the spirit of how if you have an ideal, it’s useless without acting on it. And that might take some time, effort and/or money. Which in turn is more than we can ask from nearly anyone — but not from you.

Capricorn (Dec. 22-Jan. 20) — Saturday’s New Moon in your birth sign appears to be a moment of clarity and self-discovery. This could come on like thunder and represent a real and long-awaited awakening. The question is, will it last? Insights and revelations are one thing. Deciding that you have to embark on making difficult re-evaluations of your life situation are another. The deeper layers include a question of who you are in your relationships. You seem concerned, as if your identity is lost in a marriage or domestic partnership. Or you may feel like you missed the train. Whether this is about some response to history or the karma of your grandparents will require some contemplation. Questions of marriage and household structure deserve far more discussion than they get. There exist significant questions of both personal autonomy and the true meaning of cooperation, which are not easy discussion points in our self-obsessed age.

Aquarius (Jan. 20-Feb. 19) — Your deeper mind seems to be going around the clock with anxieties, cares and concerns that you’re not able to articulate. The bubble will burst over the weekend and you’ll feel much better when the Sun finally enters your sign on the 19th. When you emerge from this phase of quietly rumbling panic, you’re likely to have an idea about something you want to commit to. The thought pattern might be, “Now that I know this, I have to do that.” Or, you want to, or need to, and the point is — you’re probably right. But this kind of inspiration does not last long. Your own sense of motivation and understanding what is right must take over. You will probably need to make adjustments or give up one or more things to do this new thing that you’ve figured out deserves your attention. It will be easy to give up and do something “more fun,” if you think that is the meaning of life.

Pisces (Feb. 19-March 20) — The sense of “let’s get on with the show” you might be feeling is probably Jupiter retrograde; it’ll be over in about two months, after having started in November. However, take heed: Neptune is about to leave your sign on Jan. 26, not to return until 2175. These remain very important days for you to arrive at a vision for yourself, which I suggest you put into writing and preserve by hanging on the wall where you can see it. This is a “highest vision” kind of exercise, where you describe your idea of success, what you want to do, how you want to feel, where you want to be, and who you want to be with. Most of us live without any concept or vision, and few articulate it. Those who attain the greatest success and satisfaction know what they are aiming for, and know when they have reached that point. Take the time and thought — it will be well worth the modest effort.
