Moonshine Horoscope — Virgo Full Moon Edition

Aries (March 20-April 19) — Mars, the ruler of your Moon sign, is powering its way through Pisces. As it moves through this water sign it will run into another quick-moving planet, Mercury, which stations retrograde Feb. 23. You can think of this as a steam engine moving forward at full speed going down a wormhole that was laid across the tracks. The momentum does not slow; instead the driven focus of Mars is turned inward. Instead of a slow process of discovery, there will be the sensation of sudden arrival, like you snap around a tight corner very quickly and figure out something about yourself. What you’re coming into contact with is a real, tangible assessment of your talents, especially concerning those that bring the things we often consider as ‘worldly’ success — money, recognition and advancement. Take note how you move boldly through life doing things your own way, even if it differs from how others say it’s ‘supposed’ to be done. This attitude comprises much of the foundation of your success. — by Genevieve Hathaway

Taurus (April 19-May 20) — You are coming into contact with a kind of pleasure that nourishes you on the deepest level. This isn’t the kind of pleasure that you get from winning a soccer game. Rather, I’m referring to the kind of joy that resonates deep in your soul and with your higher self. Part of gaining this clarity is the understanding that nourishment and pleasure are indeed important and have value.  Part of valuing something is consciously prioritizing it in your life. You have a choice over what you do with your time — at the moment you are being called to put it into the most authentic expression of yourself. The activities that bring you the most genuine joy are cluing you in as to where to invest your time. Be proactive each day in where you place your time and energy, doing more of what resonates the most with your soul and less of what you are ‘obligated’ to do. Obligation is not self-renewing, yet activities that bring you authentic pleasure refill both your creative and energetic wells. — by Genevieve Hathaway

Gemini (May 20-June 21) — Your internal and external landscapes have the sensation of rapidly expanding. This can come with the feeling of being stretched too thin. I suggest you take time to pause before making any changes; what your emotional body experiences and the information it’s providing may not accurately represent your current situation. Draw on two skills you know very well: observation and detachment. Step back from any growing emotional tidal wave and pause before canceling any engagements. Shift your perspective slightly to see where you are at the moment. From this place you’ll notice two things — that you do have enough emotional stretch to feel what is passing through without being overwhelmed, and that with a little bit of extra structure added to your day you’ll have plenty of time to accomplish all that is on your plate. — by Genevieve Hathaway

Cancer (June 21-July 22) — An idea is working its way to the surface of your psyche, pushing up from deep within you to be communicated outward. This idea you’re working with involves your changing relationship to your emotional needs and how you honor those needs. Creating and holding healthy emotional boundaries is increasing in importance to you. You have spent time working and reworking your approach to your boundaries, almost with a sense of fixation about getting it right. Expressing what you’ve honed and crafted is the next natural step. Traction to find the words you seek is becoming available, but involves some emotional detachment. Approach discussions with partners from a place of honesty and vulnerability, holding back strong emotions so they do not distract from your message. This will allow you to translate what you’ve wanted to explain to those around you in terms that will facilitate their ability to support and honor the boundaries you are setting.

Leo (July 22-Aug. 23) — Having a Leo Moon can mean you want to take care of everyone, everywhere. And your chart right now is highlighting the positive influences you can have on the larger world. There’s plenty of energy at the moment to help you expand your ideas. The key is to make the connection from something tangible to something more esoteric. To feel emotionally satisfied and grounded, you need to be doing daily work that supports people. I’m not talking about helping your neighbors fix their roof or helping the little old lady down the street bring in the groceries, but rather participating in the world on a scale larger than you might normally imagine. I suggest you consider work that benefits the collective rather than just your neighborhood. Remember that one of the deepest needs people have is for connection with other people — to feel noticed, recognized and valued. Offering these things doesn’t take much effort, just some intention. — by Genevieve Hathaway

Virgo (Aug. 23-Sep. 22) — The Full Moon next week is taking place in your Moon sign. During this time I suggest you do something than can feel a bit unnatural — go with the flow, both with yourself and with partners. Be careful of frustration and self-criticism, and of criticizing your closest relations. For you, relationships strike an emotional and satisfying note when there is a strong element of creativity, artistic quality, fluidity and depth. Relationships are often a reflection of our inner struggles, inner growth and work we need to do. You are in the process of an inner journey into your emotions through the lens of your relationships. Hold space for information and answers to manifest regarding some healing work you’ve been doing for a while. During the next few weeks, you’ll be making much progress in healing these issues. Part of holding space means giving partners in your life grace to be imperfect; I suggest you take the same approach with yourself. — by Genevieve Hathaway

Libra (Sep. 22-Oct. 23) — Your psychic body is becoming increasingly sensitive during the next few weeks. Think of this as the aspect of yourself that knows something is true without needing external verification. Put another way, it’s a gut check, something you feel deep inside that resonates as true and genuine. This is particularly meaningful for providing information about the direction of your life and the choices you make. Your intention and desire to act are condensing to the point where something solid can manifest in the form of healing. Consciously move through emotional blockages belonging to your father and his ancestors. Your emotional memory is filled with imprints from attitudes he passed on to you, including his anger and pain. How did he deal with those emotions? What was the impact on you? Once you identify his tendencies and emotional states, it will be easier to put them aside, and you will slip into a new state of being without all those blockages in the way. This new space of existence will come with an increased sense of emotional balance. — by Genevieve Hathaway

Scorpio (Oct. 23-Nov. 22) — The moment you’re in is one of examining where the sexual meets the spiritual, and where you fit into that spectrum. If you clear away all the guilt, shame, fear and jealousy, for you sex has a distinctly spiritual quality. It’s a source of creativity and direct connection to the energy of existence. I propose you consider that how you feel about sex mirrors your feelings about existence. The reverse is true as well. Consciously examine your feelings, working through the layers, then extract any unneeded shame or jealousy. Consider the actions you’ve been taking and the driving motivation behind them. Magnify those choices that are based on love and acceptance, and alter any patterns of using sex for control. Openly sharing yourself with a sexual partner will bring the connection and support that you are seeking. — by Genevieve Hathaway

Sagittarius (Nov. 22-Dec. 22) — Dynamics in your relationships, especially those involving women, may seem overly emotional or blown out of proportion during the Full Moon. A lot of energy is magnifying emotions at the moment; it’s a good time to pause and apply some distance to the situation. I suggest you view new developments less as complications and more as learning experiences. Like an image moving through a projector, a small image can appear very large on the wall — but in fact it’s still a small image on a slide. Start consciously working with your own emotional state before addressing partners. This will help you have an honest and grounded conversation with the significant women in your life. Handled with thought, care, love and holding space for all parties to grow, you will create deeper and stronger relationships. — by Genevieve Hathaway

Capricorn (Dec. 22-Jan. 20) — You are a natural leader, which has its roots in your connection to the past and all the knowledge contained there from many generations of experiences. Like a massive old-growth tree, your inherent strength is attractive to those around you. Many view you as someone who is strong through even the most chaotic and difficult situations, thus making them instinctively defer to you. At times, this quiet authority you exude has led to power struggles with people who seek authoritative roles but are not good at working smoothly with other leaders. This influences you, often causing you to work in a negative way. Make contact with your sense of security, and leave your insecurities at the door. You possess naturally what others are only faking. Feeling able to expand as authentically ‘you’ into your space at work will have a ripple effect, bringing a sense of emotional satisfaction to all involved — including those where the relationship feels built on friction. — by Genevieve Hathaway

Aquarius (Jan. 20-Feb. 19) — I pose a question for you as the next few weeks unfold: What is your concept of self-esteem based on? You can think of this as what makes you feel good about being you and where those beliefs came from. You’re working through a process of sorting out which approaches to self-confidence are working for you and which are not. Saturn is one of the rulers of your Moon sign, and despite all your Saturnian energy (marked by structure and crystallization into physical form), for you the sensation of feeling good about your existence is actually much more fluid, intangible and slippery. Take time over the Full Moon to re-engineer your concept of self-confidence, basing it on an innate knowledge that what you bring and offer to the world has value. — by Genevieve Hathaway

Pisces (Feb. 19-March 20) — Your Moon sign is a very busy place over next week’s Full Moon, with Neptune, the Sun, Chiron, Mars and Mercury all moving through Pisces. This is bringing you into contact with a deeply personal and authentic connection with your essence, also thought of as soul. Make time over the next few weeks for your creativity. You’re going to be particularly tuned to the wavelength that is your inner creative fire, so take time to be immersed in your creative projects. I’m referring to projects that have a tangible component in the physical world — photograph, sculpt, paint, make music. You are like a tuning fork being struck and producing just the right note; use your inner feeling of innovation as your guide to where to take your projects. — by Genevieve Hathaway
